I just got the call! I was expecting it to be a lateral pay move plus a moving stipend. Turns out that it’s a 20% raise plus a moving stipend. I’m ecstatic! Now I just need to break the news to my mom. Eeekkk. But I’m so flipping happy!!!!
If anyone has any advice about living in Indianapolis, please let me know!
I love Indianapolis!! My cousin lives close to downtown and has previously lived in the Fountain Square area. Both seem great. When we lived there, we lived in Carmel and Zionsville (which I loved and was good for us with kids). The Monon Trail is great (my SIL lives along it in Carmel near Bazbeaux and Sun King - that’s our favorite). The Mass Ave area has tons of restaurants we love.
We moved ten years ago and I’d go back in a heartbeat - we come back 5-6x per year to see family and try to pack in all our favorites.
Oh wow congratulations! That’s awesome. I don’t know anything about Indianapolis but I hope you love it there. How far of a move will this be?
It’s about 750 miles away! I’ve never even been to that part of the country, so I have no clue what to expect. I’m hoping to make a quick weekend trip up there to view rental homes sometime closer to my moving date.

I lived in Indy before, such a fun place with lots to do like a big city, but still has a smaller feel to it. My brother and his family live in Carmel and love it. I have friends who live downtown, Broad Ripple, and Zionsville. I still meet up with friends and go out on Mass Ave. You won't be bored.
I've never lived in Indy, but a friend of mine moved to MN from there and couldn't believe how much more expensive Minneapolis is than Indianapolis. Depending on where you live now, you could see a big bump in income.
I just called my mom and broke the news. I could tell that she seemed sad, but she told me that it sounds like an opportunity that I shouldn’t turn down. She said that whenever I go to look at rentals, she wants to come with me and turn it into a girls weekend. Then she got all sappy about how proud she is of me for being so independent, successful, and driven. 😢
