How far would you travel

at 38.5ish w?

My HS reunion is Saturday evening, about an hour and 45 minutes away. I’d have someone else drive, and could leave at any point if it becomes too much. I wasn’t planning on going, but my bff thinks she might so now I’m reconsidering. I’ll also ask at my appointment this week if they’d even ok it, just curious if I’m crazy for considering it. lol

I would not go. I think my doctor said no further than an hour after 35 weeks. My son was born by 38+2 so I definitely say no.

Hard pass. At 38.5 weeks I only want to sit on the couch. I wouldn't go to a reunion regardless of location!

But to answer your question, I wouldn't want to be more than an hour away.

Agreed, an hour is as far as I would go at that point on pregnancy.

When I was pregnant with DD, I was at a practice where you see all the doctors. So the one I saw the most, I told about my plan to rent a house on a lake and chill the week before DD was due. It was 3 hours away. He was fine with it. When one of the other doctors found it, he was not fine with it. But at that point, everything had been paid for. We made sure we knew where the nearest hospital was and how to get there. Vacation was over 7/7. DD was born 7/9, but it's not as bad as it sounds because she was a scheduled c-section.
My biggest fear was going into labor at work and having one of my colleagues/EMTs having to help me deliver. But I think the idea of an old classmate helping me deliver is worse!! I probably wouldn't go.

Ugh. The more I think about it, the crazier I realize it is to consider it. But it’s my 20th! And I haven’t been to any others. And I was really excited about standing in the corner with my bff snickering. lol

That's what Facebook is for lol. My BFF and I definitely text "did you see so and so's post?!".

And yeah. I hadn't even consider the idea that a former classmate could help deliver in an emergency situation. Nope nope nope.

I’m not on fb so I rely on her lol but we definitely do that already!!

I'm 38 weeks now and wouldn't go further then 30ish minutes away.

I had #1 at 39+5 and was induced with #2 at 41+1 and the farthest I plan to go after like 36 weeks is 30, maybe 45 min. I also have SUPER quick labors, and I have no interest in having #3 in the car lol.

i wouldn't go. but i'm 30 minutes from our hospital on a regular traffic day, easily 45-60 on a bad traffic day (of which we have many unfortunately).

I went to my mom's house for 4th of July when I was 38 weeks, with my OB's blessing. She said no more than 2 hours away. Mom lived 1.5 hour away at the time. I think I was there the whole weekend too, Fri-Sun.

My labor with my second baby was 4 hours from start to finish.

While I didnt stay long, I went with H to pick up SS 1 hr 30 min away at 39+1 from a camp, and had a scheduled c-section at 39+4. That being said, we live anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour from the hospital depending on traffic. It didn't even occur to me to ask since its normal routine on the weekends to drive an hour+ across the city for my step kids tournaments.

I would go if you are feeling good. I was still working at that point, and with traffic could easily be that far from the hospital. I also felt great, and wasn’t in any pain. But then I also didn’t go into labor on my own and had to be induced when I was over 41 weeks.

I’m feeling much better in the last few days, and this is my second- my first was a failed induction at 41w so spontaneous labor hasn’t really been on my mind. I’m still working, but live about 9 minutes from the hospital (in a tiny town).

Now I feel like an idiot because I have given no extra thought to going out of town this weekend, at almost 37 weeks. We'll only be 2 hours from my hospital and I figure they have hospitals all along the way if something went crazy fast.

Never asked my midwife, either. Though come to think of it, when scheduling another NST I did tell her I would be out of town and she didn't ask where/how long.

So clearly I would go, but I'm a FTM and don't know any better
