DS2 is 15 months and the past couple weeks I've been struggling with constant clogs. I woke up this morning with a huge, painful clog. I've been working on clearing it all day. My body is achy, but I don't have a fever. Could this be mastitis? I called the OB, but the on call doc wouldn't prescribe anything because I have no fever and I haven't been in to see the doctor since DS2 was born almost 15 months ago. Wondering if I should make a trip to urgent care.
I don't think there's any point to urgent care. They probably won't prescribe unless you actually spike a fever. Take soy lecithin and keep trying to clear it. Could go either way!
Is it red or hot? I don’t think they’ll prescribe antibiotics without additional symptoms. Hot shower with a large tooth comb, dangle pumping, and soy lecithin.

The wide tooth comb recommendation is no joke. I was always able to get my clogs out that way then dangle feed and my symptoms cleared up. My OB would prescribe abx over the phone for others so call yours before heading to urgent care.

Ugh my ob also won’t prescribe without a fever. Definitely do the hot shower and wide tooth comb, heat, dangle pump, and if you have a massager or an electric toothbrush use that. Best of luck.
My OB prescribed me antibiotics without a fever when I had subclinical mastitis. Didn't even make me come in to the office. I went to see the hospital LCs about a bleb, and they noted that the clog behind the bleb was turning into mastitis (it was tender and red, and had been coming and going for like a week), so they told me to call my OB. My OB said she trusts the hospital LCs for this. It was a 2 week course of antibiotics so that was a PITA, but between the abx, the lecithin, and all the other clog clearing methods, it was gone in about 3 days.
That bleb stuck around for another 2 months, though. That asshole.
Well, it turned into a fever.. I was able to get antibiotics, but I can't still clear the clog. I've tried all the tricks. Ugh, it freaking hurts.
Have you tried a milk bath? Get in the bathtub and massage the infected boob like crazy. Then as soon as you get out of the tub feed your baby. I’ve had 3 clogged ducts in the past 9 months and that has worked for me twice.
starburst, I guess misery loves company because I just developed a nice sized clog in one boob and a small one in the other. Joy. First clog I've had in a few months.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I feel a million times better since starting the antibiotics, but I still can't get rid of the clog and it hurts. I've never had such a stubborn one. I've taken hot showers, used a wide toothed comb, soaked in an epsom salt bath, massaged, dangle fed, used an electric toothbrush, applied a heating pad, upped my lecithin, and still nothing. So frustrating.
Do you have a manual pump? (Medela harmony?). That was the only thing that worked for clogged ducts for me. I would use it while bending over. Hope you are already feeling better since starting medicine. My OB had me alternate Advil/Tylenol too for the fever.
