I stepped wrong 2 weeks ago and fell down one step. I wrenched 2 ankles and slammed my shin into the bench and badly bruised it. A week ago I saw my chiropractor and she adjusted my ankle and gave me exercises, but she didn’t look at my bruise since they can’t do anything about bruising.
The bone on my shin feels like it has a bump on it, but I suppose it could be inflammation and other stuff just from hitting my shin so hard. It really hurt when I did it- a lot but it never felt broken to me. But with it not feeling smooth like my other leg I wonder... But if a bump is still healing I think that could still be it. I’m 2 weeks out.
I am not sure my regular doctor has x- ray or casting abilities, but I could see her or urgent care. It still doesn’t feel broken at all, but I suppose I could have chipped something but wouldn’t it still hurt? It feels tender but that’s it.
Part of me is proactive and part of me is like wait a week and see if the swelling goes down more.
I think it if happened two weeks ago, you’re already past the period where they might want to do something immediately. So I don’t think there’s a huge amount of urgency now.
The same thing happened to me with my hand - I got a pretty early X-ray and the person who read it said she thought it looked fine but would refer me to a hand doctor anyway. I got in with the hand doctor two weeks later and they said if I had come to them right away they would have done something to fix it, because it was broken. But by the time I saw them it had already healed in its broken position and they said since it wasn’t really bothering me, we’d just leave it.
If yours really is bothering you though - maybe that’s a good reason to go.
