The dishwasher that came with our house is very old and seems to have died so I'm on the hunt and reading all the things. I'd love first hand experiences, especially after our bad experience with the samsung fridge.

My advice is no matter what brand you end up buying, make sure it's a quiet one. I have a new GE in my rental right now and it's loud. It does this weird pumping sound several times throughout the cycle and it's very annoying, especially at night.
We bought this one for our old house and loved it. (The price was a lot less then? Sale maybe? We paid $680, current price is $980.) Super quiet, 3rd row for silverware, and we could fit so much more in it compared to the old one. And it had a food disposer in it, so no need to scrape plates. We bought it based on price point, reviews, and that it matched our appliance set.
We only had it for about 6 months before we moved, so I can't tell you about it's longevity. But the warranty at Costco is doubled, and we ended up using (not the dishwasher's fault) and they replaced it for free.
I have a Bosch and I like it a lot. It’s very quiet, and it doesn’t have a typical bottom heating element, so I can put stuff wherever it fits. I also like the 3rd drawer for utensils.
I got this one. Costco double warranty sold me. I've used the warranty twice now. I do not like it. I swear it takes forever to wash my dishes and is doesn't dry things even with the extended heat dry. I can't put the silverware thing in the door because my forks don't fit so it is on the bottom rack. The 3rd rack is great for my silicone muffin cups but nothing else and it causes the glasses rack to not hold any of DH's jumbo tall glasses he loves so I'm stuck washing them by hand.
Overall I wish my 1986 dishwasher I took out was still in because it washed and dried my dishes better than my new one.
I love the silence of my Bosch. Totally worth the stupid price I paid. My house is tiny and with my old dishwasher you could barely hear the TV when it was running.
We've had it almost a month. So far I like it, and it's pretty quiet. I love that top third rack for small things. I love that the controls are hidden, because I was always bumping the controls on my old dishwasher (which had a control lock, but sometimes I forgot to turn it on). Because of the third rack and utensil sorter in the door, I feel like I can fit a whole extra day's worth of dishes and utensils, so I'm running it less (and saving on our electricity bill) than our last one.
ETA: I just realized this appears to be the same or similar one 186momx said she doesn't like and had to use the warranty for...so now I'm a little nervous...

on my FB page people are commenting that without the heating element your dishes won't dry. Although honestly we have a lot of top rack stuff, so maybe not having the heating element would be a better fit for us...?
We have a Bosch, and yes they are designed not to entirely dry the dishes especially plastic. I don't mind because I open it up and it dries or I put it in the cupboard, and it dries in there. But some people do mind it, and if that would bother you then I wouldn't recommend it. I do like how quiet it is.

our current dish washer doesn't dry the dishes much at all. I never thought of it being a drawback until people commented about it.
Which is why shopping for appliances drives me nuts! Whatever weird thing about the machine we have is something I'm used to. When I get a new one there will be other weird things that I never even thought of and then I'll get all mad about those things. ha ha. Bosch and Kitchen Aide are getting rave reviews on the FB group. I do also normally like the way GE stuff looks.

Ya, this. Usually it's just tupperware that I throw in the dish drying rack on the counter so it doesn't phase me much. My regular dishes come out fine.
We had a Bosch. We ran it when we left in the morning. Our stuff was generally dry when we got home, but I don’t know if that was just a matter of how long they sat after the cycle was complete. We loved that dishwasher. We have a Kitchenaid now and it seems ungodly loud. But it works. I’m not replacing a perfectly good appliance, so we are stuck w it.
We also got a Bosch a few years ago. It’s so quiet we regularly open it while it’s running on accident because you can’t hear it. It does have a light on the bottom to indicate it’s running, but we still open it accidentally sometimes.
It dries our dishes just fine even without the bottom heat element.
I wish we would have gotten the one with the third rack for utensils or whatever, but what we have works.
Ours died suddenly a few years ago right before DH was about to leave for a few weeks so we had to buy one that day and we found that Lowe’s didn’t have many in stock, so if you are in a hurry don’t get your heart set on a particular one. We didn’t want to wait because I didn’t want to hand wash while DH was gone and he wanted to install it. That’s probably not the case for most people, but it was surprising that I picked one out online and then they didn’t have it or our second or third choices in stock when DH went to buy it.
covergirl82, we had a power outage that fried the computer part of it. The dishwasher was running when we had the outage and we very seldom have outages so weird. The other time was the drying heating part which the repairman found when he was putting in the new computer.
I try to run it at night and then I open the door and pull the racks out to air dry in the morning while we are gone all day. I will say it is very quiet.
I think we have the same one as k3am. We've had it for almost six years now. We run it every night and it has needed one repair for not draining well - that was a quick fix by the appliance repair guy. I'm not particularly sensitive to whether it makes noise, since we usually only run it at night, but I haven't noticed it being loud.

To add more to your dilemma, we have a heating element and run our plastic stuff on the lower racks with heated dry and no issues.

Yes to all of this. We have the Bosch too and love it. I open it and let the plastic air dry before unloading.
Welp, your thread is timely. Our dishwasher has been acting up and today the top shelf came unhooked and a glass broke in there, so we're pretty sure that there's shards inside the components, so now we're weighing getting a new one vs. the cost of having the repair guy out... Thanks for jinxing us.

Let me know which one you pick. I still haven't ordered one.
If the one I linked earlier weren't $300 more than we paid for it two years ago, I'd get that one.
If I can find one with no handle, that would be great. Because we currently have to open the dishwasher in order to open a drawer because the old owners had a massive design fail. But we've lived with it for a while now and it's a rarely used drawer, so won't be picky. I'm hopeful DH can get it working well enough to limp by until we find a good sale.

No dishwasher today. Honestly, I thought it was a mistake that when I ordered the estimated delivery was 11/15 and an installer called me to deliver this saturday.
Ordering a product and an install from Lowes is such a cluster for us given the DC, Store, and Installer all being different companies and different systems.
At least I've had this problem often enough that when I do encounter an issue, I create conference calls of all the parties (since the Lowe's store wanted me to call the DC and the DC wanted me to call Lowe's and they were both acting like I had somehow contacted an installer which of course I didn't! They contacted the installer and the installer contacted me since I bought the install from LOWES!!).
It's annoying though, because it feels like I'm paying good money to force the sale, delivery and install to happen rather than getting any kind of service.
mustardseed2007 - I feel the same about Lowe’s and Home Depot. It never goes smoothly. I’d rather pay more and order through a mom and pop place.
We are lucky to have a warehouse store nearby - not a chain, but a no-frills warehouse with great stock. If you have a truck, they will load it on the spot - I feel like Lowe’s never has anything available. It’s also actually cheaper than Lowe’s, so a win-win. But if that wasn’t available, I’d totally go to a local mom and pop and pay through the nose for better service.

It's what I should have done. I was debating with my H whether we should use this as a reason to cancel the order now and demand not to be charged anything for restocking or whatever, or waiting to see if it comes in. We decided to wait....but I just have a bad feeling about this.
