question about order of home changes

I'm totally new to doing anything other than minor changes (like switching out a light fixture). But, I have a few things I'd love to do to my home in the next few years. Two things that are the top of my list are having built-ins done in my living room and pulling up the carpet on my main level and doing hardwoods or LVP.

I guess my question at this point is, does it matter which order I do these in? I'll financially be able to do the built-ins well before the flooring but don't know if it matters that the living room is carpeted now. Hopefully this makes sense! 😊

Well if you're doing built-ins, they should remove the carpet and basically build the built-ins on a base on the subfloor.

Then they will put the tack strips down in front of the built-ins and cut the carpet accordingly.

Yup. What ssmjlm said. You can do the built-ins as long as they remove the carpeting.
