Has anybody seen it yet? Without giving any spoilers- is it scary? Is it worth paying full price for? We can go tomorrow for $11 a ticket or we can wait 10 days and go on $5 Tuesday. The previews make it look like such a heavy movie.
We are going for sure, but haven't yet. I heard a disappointingly awful review on the radio from a local guy. It sounded to me like the songs aren't nearly as good and plot is kind of lame, but kids will still love it. He kind of indicated it seemed like it should be a DVD only/not theatrical sequel!!! I mean, man, how could Disney blow this? Maybe this guy just has a weird opinion, who knows.
He said it's not as scary as the previews make it look, but again, I haven't seen it. He said there's a lot of wandering around in a foggy forest.
I saw it today (our real estate agents booked the theater and gave tickets to previous clients, so it was free except for the snacks!). My 4-year-old isn’t fazed by movies so he was fine, but there is definitely more sadness and some parts that may leave kids thinking something really bad happened to two characters (trying to avoid spoilers). Really sensitive kids would probably not enjoy a few parts.
The songs aren’t very catchy, and there is a painfully cheesy one with Kristoff at one point. I have been singing a song from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, which we watched last night, all day. I just saw Frozen 2, and nothing is even close to being stuck in my head. But I am calling that a good thing.

Not hard to imagine, really. I liked the original, but it seems like it would be hard to sequel. The beauty of the original was that they set up the classic Disney tropes, and then went a different way. That seems really hard to sequel to me. And if you've read any of the Frozen picture books (my kid's favorite thing), there's lots of crappy follow-up material possible.
Of course, we're still going to go see it. Haven't yet, but I kind of already promised it.
We saw it this morning (for free, through my work). I enjoyed it. Not necessarily as good as the original, but I laughed at parts & felt warm 'n fuzzy at other parts. There were some intense moments where DD (4 years) asked to sit on me, but not too scary.
I'd wait the 10 days for cheaper tickets. This week end is going to be crazy busy.
I really liked it. My 6 year old wasn’t scared. My sensitive 9 year old freaks about everything but isn’t into Frozen, so he didn’t go.
I hate how reviewers ruin everything and I try to stay away from them because then I feel like then I just pick it apart like the reviewer did. I did not think the songs were as good, but the plot was good.
I think whether you spend the money now or wait is more of a budget question than how good the movie is. I mean I don't think $22 is too much to spend to occupy my kid for 2.5 (with previews) hours. But you can certainly wait if you have things going on and would rather have it be less crowded and only spend $10.
I'm waiting for cheap Tuesday tickets, but I'm also waiting for it to not be so crowded. There's a showing starting every 30 mins in our local theater, and even next tues I would have to sit in the front row for any show where there's tickets still available.
We went to a Frozen event at the bookstore today and one of the young employees said she saw it and loved it. She said there is something really sad, but she said there were more songs than the first and they were great. She also said Olaf was hilarious!
It was okay - no great songs. My DD is sensitive and she was mostly okay. Said she didn’t like it afterwards, but was engaged and watching the whole thing. It’s an okay movie on its own, but not if you compare it to Frozen.
We just saw it and my kids (9 and 5) really enjoyed it. I thought the songs were not as catchy, but my daughter is singing one of Elsa’s big songs still, so they must be a little catchy. I feel like I enjoyed the plot more this time than I did with the first movie.
There aren’t any really scary parts, but there are some sad parts that kids might have a problem with (mine weren’t, but my kids aren’t very sensitive when it comes to movies/stories).

I liked it and found a lot of parts really funny. My 3 year old climbed into my lap twice, but the 6 year old was fine. I wish Disney hadn’t made the Kristoff song so cheesy- I mean I was intentionally cheesy, but I wish they had gone a different direction.
We just saw it today. We both liked it, laughed in some places, a little teary in others. E1 sat in my lap for a little while but I don't think he was really scared.
The music was good but not as good as the first. I agree that the Kristoff song was cheesy. I mean, it was funny at first but went on for too long. My 18 year old niece didn't understand why her mom and I were laughing at it though.

I thought the tone was uneven. Like super serious at times and then silly with random callbacks to the first movie. The plot was way too complicated - like unnecessarily so. Reminded me of a line from Mad Med when Don hears an ad pitch and says “every time I hear ‘and then...’ I want to change the channel.” My 3 and 5 yr old liked it.

That song was the best one, it was by weezer I think

We saw it today with friends. The kids all enjoyed it, and my friend enjoyed it. It was worth seeing in my opinion, but definitely fine to wait for cheap tickets/less crowds if you don't have a kid begging to go ASAP. My dd can be sensitive (to scary things, or sad things happening to animals mostly) and didn't have any problems with this. But she probably wasn't paying as much attention to the deep, sad stuff that was mostly about family, betrayal, loss, etc. because it wasn't action based, and was distracted by a cute creature. If your kid is really perceptive, it might be a bit intense, but not really scary IMO.

My only complaint was the previews. Not sure if this was just my theater or everywhere but the previews were 25 minutes long. And since most people had showed up early to get seats by the end of the movie the little kids were getting antsy and needing to use the bathroom which made the movie theater very loud.

Definitely just your theater we only had Mulan, a Pixar movie, and another Disney movie.
I really enjoyed it. As good as the first? No. It definitely played to an older set of kids (by design). Our young kids were not scared but did get antsy. The Elsa songs were pretty great and the effects in showing Arendelle at the beginning and end were just beautiful. I’d see it again, and I’m sure I will. Multiple times.
Kristoff was done dirty by the writers though. He deserved better than he got. ETA: Kristoff is a favorite of both our kids so they were a bit disappointed.

We saw it today and liked it. I agree, the songs weren’t as good as the first. However, the 2 songs they play at the end, same songs from the movie but sung by different people, DH and I both thought those were better versions. DS, 7, is my sensitive child, and he did climb into my lap at one point, but as we were leaving the theater he asked if he could watch it at home yet.

We saw it today. I really liked it, as did my oldest (8). My 5-year-old is sensitive to scary things and said he liked it but thought it was a little scary. My 2.5-year-old fell asleep halfway through and was antsy. She loves Anna and Elsa, but I think the movie itself was over her head.
I thought the music from the original was better, but I was overall really pleased with it! Whether or not it's a must-see now probably depends on your level of interest in it. My oldest was 2.5 when the first came out and saw it in theaters 6 times, so she was a major fan and we splurged and saw it this weekend. If the kids were "meh" on it, we'd definitely wait for cheaper tix.

I would wait for the cheaper tickets. Not as good as the first, but had a decent story. The songs weren't as good as the first. DD and I only went opening weekend because we were invited to go with friends (mom and daughter). DD doesn't go to school with this friend, but they are like two peas in a pod, and I really like the mom (and actually the whole family) so I try to make it work out for them to see each other as much as I can.

I loved it, I think my mom liked it, too.It was darker than the first movie, but not necessarily "dark." I really liked the story. I didn't take either of my kids. DS didn't want to go, and DD is still too little.

I ended up seeing it because I couldn’t wait. I really really liked it, as did my 6 YO DS and 3.5YO DD. I loved Kristoffs song! After I got home though, I was thinking it was a little complicated, but overall the story was good.
