I have a one day work week, so this is my Monday and my Friday, rolled into one. And there is pretty much nothing on my calendar, so I’m hoping to get some stuff done.
This week is going to be pretty nuts. There are so many things I want to do with the kids. Tomorrow a guy is coming to measure our house for new floors. (I’m so excited!!!) Wednesday I’m going to take the kids to the Gaylord for snow tubing and to see the Charlie Brown exhibit. Thursday is Thanksgiving. Friday we are spending some time at an indoor water park. Saturday I’m taking the kids to see Frozen 2 because DD hit a reading goal and her prize was to choose an activity. She chose to take her BFF to a movie.
Kicked off our Monday in a solid Monday way when DD1 couldn't find her glasses anywhere. Frantically searching and being aggravated is not how I wanted to spend our last bit of time together before I ship them off for a week and a half with dad. We eventually found them in a bowl in the playroom kitchen. *shrug*
I work today, tomorrow, and a half day on Wednesday. I'm torn between working late to catch up on projects or going home to purge the playroom and the girls' bedroom before the chaos of the holidays. I'll head up to my parents' house on Wednesday and stay up there until Saturday morning. Then I'll come home and spend the weekend with beau.
I am seriously going to hurt somebody. Apparently, I go out of town 1 night and DS got his mirror knocked off by a passing car and no one thinks to tell me. My coworker asked me about it, her son told her. I hear 40 minutes of some bullshit hunting crap, but this, not important.
On a better note, I got some amazing deals this weekend and am done Christmas shopping for DD. I got some great deals at Bath and Body works for coworkers, and got DH a sweater for half.
DH is taking DS to the doctor this morning. He has been up 2 nights with a really sore throat. I hope it is strep. The last time he did this it was a virus that lasted for a week. With strep I can get some antibiotics and he should be good by the break.
2 days of work this week!! Work late tonight, I have to go to a fiscal court meeting. I seriously need some sleep in lounge time in the mornings.
DD didn't sleep last night, I'm not sure what's going on. Need so much coffee. I ended up next to her in her twin bed. On the plus side, she has been asking us to take the training wheels off her bike, and we did yesterday. She just took off biking. Like by the end of the time that we were at the park she was starting kicking off herself. It also motivated DS who we have been working with on riding a bike with no training wheels for the better part of a year to step up his game.
This morning was very Monday. DD2 was ok, but DD1 could not get it in gear today. 25 mins to get dressed, 30 mins to eat a cup of yogurt. Packed nothing last night, so we were late to school again 🙄
DH and I just went to start the process of a kitchen remodel by meeting with a designer. She seems great, nothing is a problem, and she’s coming to see the space tomorrow. The cabinets we wanted are 25% off until the end of the year. If we order at the latest possible point in Dec (around the 20th or so), it will take 4 weeks to deliver, then th wey can stay at the warehouse for 2-3 weeks, then get delivered here. Soooo, kitchen may start sooner than we thought. It’s so exciting! Band terrifying...
I have a migraine that has settled in my right eye. Hoping it resolves soon as I have to pack for our Thanksgiving trip and clean the house for the kitchen lady. We are heading to MIL’s on Wed AM, returning Sat afternoon.
I'm not super excited about this week. I have to work all week except Thursday, and because other people are on vacation I have to open and fill in Tuesday, open and close on Wednesday (closing early), and help out on Friday instead of doing my own work in my office. Meanwhile, my co-worker is going to Florida. I shouldn't be jealous, but vacation sounds so nice. I only have to hang in there 3-4 more weeks for out vacation. It just feels like it is taking forever to get here. I am not wishing the time away. It's just hard being dark at 4. At 9 at night, it's already been dark for 5 hours. DH has for some reason taken back over the laundry (we switch back and forth with no real rhyme or reason why- maybe he does it more in the winter?), so I "napped" on the coach for 2 hours yesterday. I have it in quotes because I don't think I really slept because I had had coffee earlier, more like deep relaxation.
We saw Frozen 2 on Saturday, and had a date night where we got more gifts for the kids. We aren't supposed to be buying as much because of our trip, but it is seeming that way. I will get the nephews their presents after Christmas, so I am not worrying about them, so just immediate family and MIL/ FIL/ SIL/ Mom. It was a relaxing/ fun weekend but I am still a bit blah- maybe the time of the month.

I work today and tomorrow, and then have the rest of the week off. The kids also have school off Wednesday through Friday, so I'll be able to spend time with them and do some things around the house. DH is working Wednesday and then is off Thursday and Friday. I'll do some shopping Thursday early morning at Meijer (Midwest superstore chain) and then any other Black Friday shopping I'll do online.
We're going to my parents' house for Thanksgiving, which I'm happy about. I love my mom's cooking and she makes homemade pies the same way her mom and her grandmas did. Apparently my sister won't be there, so it will be a really good and stress-free time. My sister's opinions do not at all align with mine, DH's, or our parents, and she's not afraid to blow up over someone accidentally bringing something up, so it will be nice to not have to walk on eggshells the whole day.
Weekend was pretty good. DH's birthday was Saturday, so we had MIL, my parents, and my sister over for lunch. MIL is so weird. She wore a Christmas sweater and a baseball cap that had the phrase, "cute but psycho." The cap definitely had the second part right, but it's just not something that most women in their early 60s would wear.

It was a pretty good weekend with DS. We went to Costco and the farmers market, and then just stuck around at home.
This week will be busy. I'm working a half day today because of a dermatology appointment and meeting Beau for lunch. DS's P/T conference is tomorrow followed by basketball practice and then I have another appointment Wednesday. All while trying to get ready for Thanksgiving. I shouldn't be stressing because it's just my parents and DS for dinner, but I want to make sure I have everything organized. Friday I go to my parent's house to see my niece and her family, who I haven't seen in several years. Beau is so agreeable and is willing to tag along to anything, so he'll join me Friday and then we'll spend the weekend together.
rere I "borrowed" my Dad's car when he was out of town for work when I was 16 and knocked off the side view mirror backing out of the garage. I had it put back on by a mechanic before he came back. Apparently he always wondered why that mirror would no longer adjust position automatically but didn't say anything to anyone about it at the time. We laugh about it now.
My Monday started out pretty well because there was an elementary school assembly and DD was part of a really cute video the 2nd grade teachers put together for the class project focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the kids' environmental efforts. She also got to go up onstage for running the most laps of girls in her grade at the school jogathon Friday, and both she and DS1's classes won the pizza parties for their grades because their classes ran the most laps. So it was a proud mom morning.
Over the weekend we decorated for Christmas, DD played a soccer tournament with 3 games, and we went out with friends Saturday night. Now I have an insane 3 days of work and then hosting Thanksgiving and then we leave for Fiji Sunday night.

I had an electrician out today to replace an exterior light fixture that was broken by some sort of sports ball (likely a football, likely thrown by my husband). In the process of walking around the house the electrician noticed exposed wires where the electric lines come into the house. The quote for repair is somewhere around $3500. We'll have to fix this as it is a monster safety concern. I am so aggravated because every time I get something fixed something else crops up. And that is not an insignificant cost. We are trying to get the house on the market this spring and this was not in the house repair budget. I am going to get a second quote, but that is proving harder than I expected since this is more than just a simple residential electric repair.
Weekend was really long. Hosting a state gymnastic meet is a ton of work. It was my first meet to work and I worked every shift (stupid me) so had a long weekend. DD hung out and worked concessions, awards, raffle, and just had a blast. I had so many of our parents tell me what a great helper she is and how happy and smart she is. I also got tons of advice on how to get her ready to compete and which coach she should get privates with and not her current coach and why. It was an eye opening weekend.
Very frustrated with DH who got to spend all of Saturday at home alone. I asked him to winterize the patio and put up the Christmas lights since it was 55 and sunny. He did neither and did nothing around the house or yard all day. I have no clue what he did but I was very cranky. He didn't even do laundry but waited until I was home to start his meaning I didn't get DD and my laundry done last night. Argh
Busy week. No team gym practice but DD is dropping into power tumbling to work her back-handspring on Mon & Wed. Wed I'm helping set up the book fair at school for next week after school. Oh and they are talking valley snow so I'm hoping the weather guys are wrong as I don't want snow. Supposed to go over the passes Friday to visit friends for the weekend but they are talking major mountain snow so will probably be the mean lady and cancel.

Ugh. Thank goodness it’s a short week. Dh had an awful race weekend but thankfully is okay after a head on accident on track and only has a sore toe. It was awful to watch but glad he got up quickly and wasn’t hurt.
I think we are switching ds2s school in January as the school does this weird thing where they move up the three year olds in January who are enrolled in jr k the next fall. Since we are planning on doing jr k somewhere else he’d get left behind all of his friends and stay in the three year old room. We weren’t planning on moving until next fall but if he’s going to be left with no friends I’d rather change now than change twice. I’m so bummed because he has a couple of really close buddies he will miss. I wasn’t planning on having to deal with this yet.
I’m super swamped at work and just want a break. I ordered groceries today and it’s been more than a month since my last order so we’ve done a great job of pantry/freezer eating and surviving. And now I can make thanksgiving dinner too.

I've been in such a mood lately. Thank goodness for a short week. I have 5 peers who manage teams in my division. All of our direct reports are now doing this "best practices" phone call once a month but not including anyone higher in the food chain in the calls or the correspondence. It is supposed to be a peer-to-peer thing. I get it but every one of their best practices from their first call was a big "no-no". My teammates are ignoring this fact because my absentee boss thinks it is a great idea (despite agreement that all of the best practices from the first meeting shouldn't be done).

Ugh. I feel you on the mood. It seems like I’ve been in a crappy mood and feeling down since my SIL passed. I know we are still grieving but I can’t seem to kick it and crap just keeps piling on. Hoping decorating for Christmas this weekend lifts our spirits.

I’m off this week. DD1 is off and DD2 will be off as of noon tomorrow. I cleaned my house this morning with nominal help from my oldest child. The house was somehow destroyed again in the process of putting up Christmas decorations.
In between the cleaning and destroying ofthe house I took my oldest ice skating and then went to a barre class and as I sit here waiting for youngest child to fall asleep, I’m unsure I can feel my legs.
