1. I love my mom's dressing. It is so good. She has no idea how to tell me to make it. Just throw a bunch of things in with some biscuits she has cooked, so good luck to me if I ever take over the meal.
2. I am regulated to the non important item for my mom's. Macaroni and cheese. Like we need more carbs. I also make a banana pudding for my moms and green bean casserole has been my assignment at MIL. My specialty is my deep Dutch apple pie that I will make tomorrow. I make one for each location and serve with ice cream. I only make these on Thanksgiving and they are so good.
1. Dressing. Assuming I make it right. Last year it bombed so badly. (We had 2x more people than normal, and one family of vegetarians, which I tried to accomodate. What really ended up happening was I had 4x more dressing than normal, and none of it was very good.)
2. I make the dressing and green beans. Occasionally the cranberry suace. DH makes the turkey and I farm out the rest of the items that I don't care about.

1. Turkey. It's one of my favorite foods and Thanksgiving turkey is the best.
2. This year is new for me. Usually I would just make rolls and my bourbon chocolate pecan pie. This year I'm making everything except for sweet potatoes. I'm a little nervous about it all turning out, but luckily it will just be my parents and DS so it's not a big deal if something doesn't turn out right.
1. Turkey gravy...I actually really don't like the whole turkey dinner over indulge meal. My mom cooks about 3 times a year as my siblings love it. Like she will by 3 turkeys and store them in the freezer for later.
2. Nothing. Last year I made pies and desserts and my mom also made dessert (frozen Sara Lee Pie) and we had to eat that. My made from scratch stuff got sent home as leftovers. So I'm really doing nothing this year. I will make DD a pumpkin pie and keep it at home.
2. I’m bringing an app (smoked salmon and crackers) and a salad (kale with feta, craisens, and pepitas and a homemade pumpkin vinaigrette). I usually sign up to bring salad because it’s easy to transport. Sometimes I sign up to bring pies because again easy to transport. I never volunteer to bring things that need to stay warm.

1. I can't pick one thing! I love stuffing (my mom makes Pepperidge Farm), green bean casserole, and my mom's cranberry sauce. Oh and my mom's homemade pies that she makes like her mom and grandmas did.
2. I make yeast rolls using my paternal grandma's recipe. They are a family favorite. They take about 1/2 a day to make due to waiting for the dough to rise, punch it down, let it rise again, and then roll out, cut, roll into crescents, and bake.

1. My favorite is also my mom's stuffing.
2. I'm in charge of buying a pie. I used to be in charge of green bean casserole but I got sick of making it, so then I was relegated to purchasing a pie from the company I work for as punishment for my insolence. I'm cool with it.

1. My moms cheese ball or apple crisp. I don’t actually like most thanksgiving foods so I’m making an apple crisp because that’s my favorite fall dessert. 2. I’m making it all. So I’m subbing for some things I do like. But I’ll still make turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes (with the good stuff in them), and salad.
1. We all love the stuffing. I use Stovetop but add sautéed onions and mushrooms. 2. I make everything and have for more than 20 years. MIL doesn’t cook. She’s bringing this nasty apricot jello salad that DH loves. I don’t eat, cook with, or touch jello. Ever. Under any circumstances. I told DH this year he better learn to make it or it dies with his mom.
1. My favorite is green bean casserole. It's one of the few sides that translates really well to a gluten free version so everyone eats it. Before going GF I'd have said stuffing. 2. Wine? Basically that's all I'm entrusted with. I'm not a good cook. I buy the gluten free ingredients and my mom and dad cook it all for me.

1. It’s a tie between cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce. H makes really good cranberry sauce.
2. I don’t host thanksgiving and usually get assigned vegetables but idk that I am known for anything. I like to roast Brussels or make lightly sweetened glazed carrots. This year I’m making green beans sign bacon and onion because it is the girls favorite. Also bringing H’s cranberry sauce and cranberry muffins .
1. DH makes awesome scalloped potatoes and brussel sprouts gratin that I love. Alllll the heavy cream.
2. I make cranberry cornbread and sweet potato casserole. Pies are normally my thing, with a great homemade crust, but this year our friends offered to bring pies, and I'm letting them since it is a lot of work.
twinmomma, DD and I love green bean casserole. We eat it at least once a month. When I was single I would sometimes just make it for myself and eat it for dinner. Now the only time my dad gets it is for holidays since no one else in my family likes it and my mom says it is a waste to make it just for dad.
1 - Sweet potatoes. I make them in this sticky brown sugar glaze (an NO marshmallows!) and they are so yummy!
2 - I do all the cooking and host and I love everything about it! Hosting Thanksgiving was always my dream, and now it is mine and I will never let it go! Lol! We'll have 14 people total.

OMG, my mother in law does this too! I make this beautiful dinner 100% from scratch and she always shows up with this bowl of orange jello that has shredded carrots and celery in it. I do not understand it! She always says, "It's DHs favorite." And yet, he never eats it.

WHAT!!!!?? Jello with carrots and celery? In what universe do you put vegetables in Jello? Not that I touch Jello anyway unless you count the time it had Vodka in it.

Unfortunately this is indeed DH’s favorite. It also takes up 3/4 of my fridge since she makes it in a large Bundt pan and puts it on a cake transporter and then makes about a gallon of homemade whipped cream in another gigantic Tupperware bowl to put on top of it.

1. I am looking forward to pumpkin pie because DH doesn’t like it and never wants it. And for some reason he is making it for me this year. I am aware I could buy it anytime but it seems a waste to buy another pie when we usually already have apple and key lime.
2. DH makes everything and loves it. I’m on clean up, and enjoy not cooking.

Confession: I love jello salad. But I’ve always only had it with fruit in it, like strawberries or peaches. Maybe a small amount of whipped cream. No carrots, ew.
This picture is 2 years old, but there it is. Right in the middle - orange jello with carrots and celery. It physically hurt me to even take a picture of them. Well, that and the rolls I burned. Womp womp.
1) sauerkraut. The smell of it make sure me think of my grandmother. My parent host Thanksgiving and we’d have always had 20-30 people. My dad would run out and get my grandson and age would wouls with us while we prepared. When I smell it simmering I think of those times with her. It’s amazing how powerful smells and memory are.
2) This year there will be 32-35 people and I am making the mashed potatoes. I will probably make 13 lbs, we like leftovers. I will get off early today and so will the kids, and I’ll peel and cut them and put them in water overnight. Then tomorrow I’ll boil them and mix, then I spray Pam into two crockpots with pats of butter and keep them warm.

1. Honestly? Everything!! I love Thanksgiving dinner. My dad makes my late grandma's sausage stuffing, and it is always the best. Plus, mashed potatoes and pies!!
2. My school sells these HUGE apple pies as a fundraiser so I have been charged with that for the last 10 years. The kids and I will also bake a loaf of Trader Joe's GF pumpkin bread to share.
