A man who stabbed two people to death and wounded three others in a "terror-related" attack was shot dead by police on London Bridge after he was held down by members of the public.
The suspect, Usman Khan, 28, had been released from jail on licence in 2018, half way through a 16-year sentence for terrorism offences.
Of course idiots from the US are coming down on Sadiq Khan (Mayor)...and getting blasted for it considering we don't have mass shootings over here and our knife crime isn't that much more than comparable cities in the US. Gun crime, a lot lower.
OMG, the radio news had not mentioned how the bystanders had stopped him. I had assumed three people had just managed to overpower him and knocked the knife out of his hands, not deployed fire extinguishers and a narwhal tusk!
Brutal to have this happen anywhere in the world. Can’t believe he was already serving charges at the age of 19/20. What hatred exists.

He doesn't get sympathy from me, but this does just make me think about how permanent brain washing like that can be. Can you imagine all the other things he could have done with his life? Instead he was indoctrinated to hate people. It's just a tragedy all around.
Major kudos to the brave people who jumped in to stop him.

I know, it’s wild. One of the men who stopped him has reportedly done time for murdering a disabled teenage girl. Really something all around. I’m glad they were able to stop him, very sad for the families of those who didn’t make it Edit: he was on day release for the murder, I thought he had finished sentence. What a situation.
This is the craziest story. Narwhal tusk as weapon, murderer as hero...
Also, convicted murderers get day releases?
All strangeness aside, my heart goes out to the families of the two victims who passed.
Both the terrorist and the murderer hero were there attending a prisoners reform conference type thing at the fishmongers area. So it’s part of why he had the day pass, participating in reform.
One of the two victims was a presenter at the conference he was at. This makes me question "random act of terrorism" or if it's a matter of a terrorist going after somebody otherwise known to him (plus a bystander).
I’m not trying to be. I know humanity has always been cruel and vicious, but as our better natures try to fend off evil, the results seem to turn increasingly surreal and phantasmagoric. We are that desperate in this life that decorative narwhal horns become protection from evil. I’m sorry if I came off flippant.
