I'm disgusted with most (or all) of Trump's judges, but this one really feels like a gut punch because it hits home. If people like Pitlyk had their way my daughter wouldn't exist.

I just saw this and I am losing my whole shit.
Especially in light of the horror show bill in PA recently that specifically targets people doing IVF (the one requiring death certificates for fertilized embryos) I feel like I’m being re-traumatized every time I open the news.

Wtf. I hadn’t heard of this bs bill in PA either. This is all insane.
What does pitlyk think of adoption? I can’t read the whole article without losing my shit, but it sounded like she opposed surrogacy because it “disrespects motherhood and lessens the mother child bond”? Or am I way off here? Is she just against IVF or also iui? What about the use of other ovulation inducing drugs? What a piece of shit.

I didn't know about this, but holy shit! Fuck those assholes putting this forth.

A bunch of fertiles were all in with their wide eyed “omg are they going to comb through my period clots how would they ever knowwww” and I about lost my eyes rolling back in my head. For once this isn’t about you, it’s about eroding IVF rights and since all repro rights are connected how about you pause and worry about this with me/for me instead of vice versa, yeah?

I truly cannot understand how IVF or surrogacy disrespects motherhood. It’s basically the literal opposite of that.
I’m sorry to everyone this hits even closer to home for, what a bunch of BS this all is.
Not to defend her in ANY way, shape, or form, because this is abhorrent, especially for a federal official, but the Catholic view says that reproduction that doesn't involve, uh, both parents creating the life, physically, like really physically, is forbidden, because it takes God out of the equation. There are better explanations for that theology, I suppose, but the basis is that anything that doesn't involve sex isn't allowed because, as we know, religious people are OBSESSED with sex.
The thing is, if you actually go through it, IVF is kind of NBD. It's kind of a REALLY big deal, obviously, but when you're going through treatment you just go to progressively more aggressive treatment and your doctor tells you to consider IVF and you go in for a consult, and, assuming you're lucky enough to afford it and/or have really good insurance, it's literally just the next step in a process. It's like taking a medication that doesn't work to help your eczema and then moving onto something stronger, in a way.
I just finished reading a book called the Family Gene, a mission to turn my deadly Inheritance into a hopeful future. The very idea that using reproductive assistance to avoid having a child with a deadly gene, or for some other reason, is somehow a threat to the sanctity of motherhood is such a blow hole of flim flam, it is indefensible and morally repugnant.
My BIL has a rare genetically passed disease that is genetically carried. At this point, we do not know the exact gene, though there are some ideas. It is believed to be maternally passed, which in theory, would mean that my kids and BIL's kids would not have it, but do not know for sure. If we knew, when we were having children, you can bet that I would skip to the front of the line to prevent my kids from slowly being unable to drive, move without pain, work, and function, as they entered their 40's and 50's, because that would be the most maternal and moral action I could ever take.
It goes along well with this non-sense from Ohio, John Becker. Who elects fools who think like this?

This is what makes me dislike religion. If for YOU personally, you want to follow these ideas - have at it. Do you. But when you try to impose your religious views on others, it angers me. The lack of respect for differing views is astounding sometimes.
I don't understand this logic at all. Don't these sorts of people believe that women exist only to be mothers? You'd think they'd want a woman to have children by any means necessary.

Keep in mind that the people making these rules are celibate men.
As for the lay people, some may have these beliefs but when they personally (or their close family) are affected by a genetic condition or miscarriage, suddenly it becomes ok because God told them so.
