My first race, the Warrior Dash, is next Saturday. I know it's just a go have fun thing, but I'm slightly competitive, want to do the best that I can, and don't want to wear myself out the week before so can we pretend it's just like any other race?
Here's my planned exercise for this coming week:
S - 3.1 mile run (my long run as of now) & 30+/- mins yoga for runners
M - 30 Day Shred + additional strength training (core and upper body)
T - Run hills 2 - 2 1/2 miles & 30+/- mins yoga for runners
W - 30 Day Shred + additional strength training (core and upper body)
T - Walk with stroller. I'll go to a flat track for an easy stroll. 30+/- mins yoga, an easy flow, not power
F - Rest
S - DASH!
How does this look? Am I over/under-doing it? Would you change anything?
If this works out I'm thinking I'll use this schedule again for future races.
As long as you won't be sore on Saturday from your upper body workout on Wednesday (seems like you have enough time in between,) I think it looks fine. I was surprised to find my arms and back pretty fatigued after the Warrior Dash that I did. There will likely be pile up at many of the obstacles, so mentally plan for that and don't get annoyed/frustrated. Have fun and enjoy the festivities afterwards. We had a really fun day!
That sounds perfect! Let us know how the race goes. Also, is the "yoga for runners" a DVD you have or a class? Tell me more! I have been looking for something like that.

I use doyogawithme.com
I think someone on here (maybe it was ML?) suggested it. It's free and has a lot of videos for all different levels. They have a 20 min video for pre-run, a 20 min video for post-run, an injury prevention video, and I think some others. I really enjoy them.
