How’s it going this week? Can you believe Christmas is a week away? Are you ready???
My Dad sent a very generous gift for us and we were able to purchase a lot of the things on our registry that we still needed and had the 15% completion deadline from amazon to score more. Huge relief and feeling very grateful! A’s brother and his family are coming for just one night on Saturday and then I’ll look forward to a quiet week. I’m sleeping a lot these days now.
I'm in full on grinch mode around here. DS is being such a dick lately, which is an inconvenient time since I still need to dig deep, feel some love and get him some gifts. I'm at the point where I just want it over. DD did facetime me yesterday and is excited to come home and is making DD a tie blanket that's 3 yards long...she didn't realize how long that would be, so hijinks ensue! She also asked if we can do a couple of the family tradition things we used to do, so my grinchy heart may grow a couple of sizes after all. I did also buy the granddog a sloth-mermaid toy, because it's half sloth and half mermaid lol.
I did back to back sweaty classes this morning and feel strong AF right now. I really want to go out and do something fun on NYE but I don't think I know anyone doing anything. I need a drunken dancing giggling night like crazy.
My 4 concerts, 3 doctor appointments and 2 Christmas parties are finished! I am officially cleared, medically, for surgery you guys. It's actually happening. Surgery is estimated to be late Feb/early march depending on insurance timing.
Also had two biopsies, a colposcopy and a pap yesterday to followup on the cancer scare. Initial visual was good so keep fingers crossed that everything is ok.
This week, omg. Three birthday things. One early xmas event with family. And bf's band plays next Monday. Then two other christmases. Hereere we go. Luckily this is mostly fun stuff. Just, you know....super fucking busy.
I just paid for four dance costumes, so there went most of my extra money. Good thing I'm done buying Christmas presents! I just need wrapping paper and cards and I'm done.
Today is my last regular day of work this week. Tomorrow we have a training day with tacos and team building. Next week I'm only working two days! I can't believe Christmas is next week!
She sent an email out listing all the meals for a week....each day breakfast and dinner and what her and my MIL have decided we will be eating all week.
It’s Wednesday now, but here I am! I like my new job, but I’m still adjusting to having a daily commute again. It’s just so people-y to sit in an office all day, and having to care about what I’m wearing is a PITA.
I am so not ready to have 17 people descend on my house next week. I’ll have all the family here from Tuesday-Thursday, with smaller groups arriving on Monday and leaving on Friday. I have already threatened to kill my mother at least once and she’s not even here yet. It had to do with the grocery list she sent me, complete with ridiculous requests (she wants the pumpernickel loaf to be round, but the rye bread could be either round or square, she wants specific brands of condensed milk, and the shrimp may be either small or medium sized as long as they are non-tailed) and an ask that I save my receipts so she can reimburse me for “her” stuff. Sure mom, let me go into a busy supermarket and have your items rung up separately so that you have a receipt for your $30 of ingredients while I buy the other $200+ of supplies for a massive dinner 🙄🙄🙄. Then there’s the fact that all of my siblings and their families have offered to contribute food and drinks but one (did you guess my sister? You’d be right!) I plan to drink the whooooole week long.
Oh man chalupa, I will have drink for you tonight. That is some crazy nonsense.
I woke up yesterday AM with a crazy burning sensation on my left eye. Come to find out I have sty in my eye, not on the waterline area but on the inside of the lower lid. So not only does it burn but it constantly feels like there is something in my eye. Do you know how hard it is to fold up a heating pad properly to get it in the corner of your eye? Let me tell you, it is not easy.
I was suppose to have an eye appointment today for new glasses and contacts but that is a no go. Fantastic.
So I now have 3 different dr's appointments next week - the week of xmas. Yeah, like who has time for that.
OMG mags and chalupa, I will drink for the both of you tonight. That all sounds like special versions of hell.
Tonight I'm going to a team dinner with one of the teams I work with. The fact that they consider me part of the team is really nice. Stressing about what to wear, of course.

My kid goes to her dads for the week Friday afternoon so I won’t see her until Friday after Xmas when it is my turn to have her for a week. I have no family in this country so will likely be spending Xmas eve with my Italian and equally family-less friend and her family. Xmas day I have no clue. Probably just be staying home. I guess I don’t really care except then afterwards people always ask what you did for Xmas and it sound kind of pathetic when you have done nothing. The good apr about not having family here to not having my kid is that I don’t have to worry about all this gift buying and giving. I of course buy my DD a few gifts but that’s it. I don’t even have to buy anything for myself to put under the tree (I just have to figure out what Santa will give me this year because surely my DD will want to know ) in other words, it will be a quite week for me without any stress!

chalupa, that is utterly ridiculous of your mother AND your sister. I am thankful that in my family it's expected every get "assigned" something, determined by the host. Last year my sister tried to pull the "but I'm flying in Xmas Eve" card to which I promptly responded "well, I'll go buy the appetizers on your behalf and you can pay me XXX dollars."
mags. LOL. Does that mean if they plan the meals they are also doing all the cooking? AKA you can sit back and do nothing??

I think I've officially reached the "fuck it" stage of the holidays. I'm hosting (for the second time ever) and my family always eats beef on Christmas (which I don't really eat). I was stressing myself out about "making it right" when finally I told myself not to worry about it as the worst thing that can happen is that I ruin the meat and I'll never be volunteered to host again. LOL.
I also have no ideas for most people, so they are getting cash and gift cards. And in addition to tickets to a comedy show, I'll just buy P a really expensive bottle of bourbon. Done. Fuck it.

If you assign things, why are you making a meat you don’t want? I sure as shit would be making something I’d like to eat. Holidays are too stressful!

I don't really eat much meat so on holidays I always just eat sides. So, you bet your bottom dollar all the sides are ones I like, hahaha. The meat I do eat would be a PITA to make for a crowd so I'd rather just eat sides and make something I wouldn't eat.
