Out of curiosity... when do you start putting presents under the tree??
Normally we wait until really close to Christmas, but this year DH got industrious and bought and wrapped all of his early. So we’ve been putting gifts under the tree pretty much since we put it up.

If I have time to wrap early, I'll tuck all the non-Santa stuff under as I do it because it looks nice. This year I will be frantically wrapping on Monday so I won't even bother to put stuff under until Christmas Day.

After the kids go to bed Christmas Eve. I have a 2-year old though, so putting anything out earlier would likely result in opened presents. Growing up nothing went under the tree until Christmas Eve except presents that came early from other people (i.e. out of state grandparents).
I wrap as I shop and put them out ASAP. Santa gifts get wrapped and hidden and then brought out Christmas Eve.
We had friends over this weekend and one of them was SHOCKED that I would put them out so early. And then I realized, I have no idea what most people do. Growing up, they were always out early, but my family is weird, so I can't ever rely on what we did as "normal."

Ditto. Plus we have a puppy now so the presents will go out late at as possible.
k3am we do what you do. Growing up nothing got put out until Christmas eve. My sister still won't put the gifts from her out until right before we open Christmas afternoon because my mom is a horrible snoop. Mom always has a good excuse why she had to move your box and it drives my sister bonkers. Me I don't care.
Packages shipped straight to you question. BIL sends everything to us directly to avoid paying shipping. Everything is addressed in DH's name. Last year I opened stuff and wrapped it and then put it under the tree. Do WPs wrap gifts that were shipped straight to you from Amazon or wherever?
We have 3 kids 7 and under and I definitely don’t trust the 5-year-old or 2-year-old boys not to open presents early, so I don’t see us putting gifts out early for a long time. This year we fly cross country Monday so Monday night and Xmas eve will be spent furiously wrapping things I shipped there.
I volunteered in DD's class today for their holiday party. It was cute and DD was ecstatic that I was able to be there.
I didn't realize I was a germaphobe until today. I was in charge of the cookie decorating table, and the amount of kids who licked their hands and then tried to reach in and grab decorations was amazing. I did my best to keep kids from licking stuff and hand sanitizing if they did, but never have I ever had less desire to eat a cookie than I did after watching that.
When we make cookies at home, the kids get their own to decorate and they’re kept separate from everything else. I make treat trays for school and neighbors, and NO ONE HELPS.
DD2’s class had a gathering today. Each child did a short presentation on Christmas in another country. The kids did really well. They each memorized their speeches, sang songs, learned how to say “Merry Christmas” in 9 different languages. And then food. Cookies, fruit, etc... and after the kids went through the line, licking their fingers along the way, not one parent took food 🤢.

Kid 1 was terribly sick for several days, then we managed to have one full day of school/work before kid 2 got sick. Now kid 1 has a cold. We are going to germ-ridden until global warming takes Florida.

Immune system supplements for kids? Recs?
So in certain situations (daycare) I feel like illness is inevitable. Kids have to get sick to build up their immune system, and it’s normal for a kid to get 6-12 colds a year. That being said we always get the flu shot, and I’ve seen studies that elderberry binds to the flu virus so it doesn’t replicate as much but those are only for influenza. In terms of colds I’ve had luck shortening them with zinc. But if it’s truly a nasty cold bug (rather than a mild or medium one), I’m not sure anything helps except managing it once it gets here.
I was just putting new clothes on our elves when DS, age 5, walked into the room to tell us his nightlight was flashing and needs new batteries. I don’t believe he noticed the two elves sitting next to me, but omg. I got caught elf-handed.
It’s not quite getting caught having sex, but right now it feels awfully close!

Sometimes I give kids probiotics. I am not sure it is going to help much with a cold but I think they are supposed to help your immune system. Also when everyone is sick I make sure everyone takes their daily multivitamins; I am less diligent about that the rest of the year.

People around here swear by elderberry syrup. They also exist in gummy form.
In our family we don't really take it but looooooots of people have recommended it.
DH and I had a date night that totally got off on the wrong foot and it wound up sucking.
Earlier in the week we found out that the structure of the trust for the home we purchased for MIL subjects us to a large tax filing fee. If we change the structure, we avoid the fee. It was explained to me that we have one person l as head of the LLC, and others could be added as members.
Turns out DH is setting up a single member LLC with him as the single member, and I am nowhere on the paperwork. He dropped this while we were sitting in DD2’s classroom waiting for her Christmas show to start. I was shocked, but did not address it. He asked me to sign the paperwork tonight, and I literally said, “I am not pleased with this.” He got very offended. And things just went downhill from there.
I'm over cleaning house, wrapping gifts, cooking, laundry, helping DD with gymnastics. All I want to do is work on my painting but feel like I can't with the mountain of chores hanging over my head. DH is cleaning the garage to get his ATV out so he can go play tomorrow. Argh!!!
I’m trying to actually use this vacation for some self-care. I’m getting a massage first thing in the morning before taking the kids to get Santa pics. And on Friday I’m getting a much-needed facial. My poor skin is so dry and in such need of exfoliating.

After a week of a sore throat that wasn't getting better yet no other symptoms, I went to the same day clinic today and was given antibiotics for a sinus infection. Weird since I haven't had a runny nose. At least it's not strep or the flu which is rampant in my area right now.
I think DD1 has a stomach bug. I don't feel 100% either but I'm trying to will myself to keep it together. This means she can't go to daycare in the morning. Which means I can't wrap or prep a single thing while she's home. I haven't even started wrapping yet. I was banking in a full day alone on Monday. And they don't go back to their dad's until after Christmas morning. I'm supposed to host an entire day of various people on Wednesday.
Our van is packed and we are ready for a 13 hour drive to Quebec! We are going skiing at the gem of a mountain that I grew up going to and I haven’t been in decades!
Some presents coming with us packed in the stow and go. Seat is down in the back and luggage and skis for 5 are in the back and turtle too.
Omgosh I am so excited. This mountain is literally my happiest place on Earth.

December 23 and now I'm officially done Christmas shopping, lol. As I was going through Santa gifts last night, I realized that I needed two more things for DD. Thank goodness my local Meijer just got in a couple of the "surprise" toys DD had on her list.
Have fun campermom! We’re flying our family of 5 to the East coat today (5 hour flight). I am so not a road trip person and 13 hours in the car sounds like torture to me
Well, I was pretty much through shopping but DD just dropped a new game on Santa during our visit. Luckily, I needed one more thing for her to even things out, so it’s all good.

And apparently no one on the planet has Pictionary. Damn it.
