For those of you who have Christmas dishes or mugs, etc. how do you store them off-season? I could maybe find some space in an out of the way cupboard, but my kitchen is pretty small. I've also considered getting a storage tote for them and putting them in the garage with other Christmas stuff. Just curious what others do. TIA
I don't have Christmas specific dishes, but I have a slightly nicer set of white dishes with a silver trim (dinner plate, dessert plate, and matching mugs) I have a quilted dish protector set similar to this - smile.amazon.com/dp/B071CYTRYG/ref=twister_B07T6C6R8S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 - and I store them in my linen closet on my "entertaining shelf." It's my designated spot for all my serving dishes for hosting or taking to parties that I only use a few times a year.
I have service for 12 of Spode's Christmas tree pattern. When it's not in use, I keep it in a closet in the basement. Some fits in china protectors like these:
Others are in cardboard boxes. Some of the serving pieces are in a plastic tote. I do a complete swap with our everyday dishes for the season, so one set is always down there.
I don’t have a full set of dinnerware, but I have a lot of Christmas serving pieces, and they’re all in Rubbermaid totes in the basement, with bubble wrap between each piece for protection. For a full set of plates, I would get those padded dish storage things like Susie linked.
We mostly have serving pieces and mugs. We just use our China for dishes at the holidays and those are always stored in the buffet in our dining room. The serving pieces (I have a lot because my MIL brings me new Spode Christmas tree pieces every year) just live in the cupboard above the fridge the rest of the year. We have a subzero so that cabinet is very high and just not useable for anything but longer term storage. The mugs we just keep in the mug cupboard all year lol

Thank you for not saying Tupperware.
At least Rubbermaid actually makes storage and organization products in addition to food storage, so even if people use that as a generic term it doesn't bother me.
Now that I got that off my chest (lol)...
My mom kept her holiday dishes in quilted cloth protectors on the shelf in the lower part of her China cabinet.
We have special dishes that we keep in wooden boxes from IKEA, next to our Christmas ornaments, in the wall of pax wardrobes (also from IKEA) that we installed in our master bedroom.

This is so interesting to me! Could you share about when/where you use so many sets of dishes? Especially, when you take them to other parties.
I struggle so much with using my grandmother’s china. I have a full set. And I always use the dollar-store plates when I host because it’s easier to wash. I wish I could make them a priority.
Also, to answer the OP, I store my Christmas mugs/dishes in their original boxes with the Christmas items in totes in the basement.

Mostly at parties of my own making. I used to host a cookie and ornament exchange every year (with lots of savory snacks), plus Super Bowl, and then the occasional book club. Most recently it's been Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.
I have this stupidly large tiered serving thing to help raise the table when doing a buffet, some random crystal ware for things like nuts, olives, pickles (probably 1/2 of it my mom gave to me; she loves to throw parties and loves to buy random Mikasa crap). I also have a variety of platters for cookies, meat/cheese trays, sandwiches, etc., and various sized bowls for chips and dips.
I actually haven't actually gotten out the entire set of "fancy" white dishes in probably two years or more though. I had my last ornament exchange at a wine bar and didn't plan one for this past season, and a few years ago we bought a new set of all white everyday dishes. I don't bring the actual dishes (to eat off of) anywhere, I only take serving dishes places (usually just to the library for one of my book clubs, and in that case most of the time it's only my dishes there, so I don't have to worry about them getting lost).
But when we first moved into our house a space big enough to host a party we had like, 2 white dishes, and then 7 black stoneware dinner plates and 8 black stoneware salad/dessert plates (one dinner plate broke). I really hated the waste of paper plates when I was hosting at my own house and have a dishwasher, so I bought a cheap set at Linens and Things. (They are dishwasher safe, but the silver bit seems to fragile to hold up to daily use.)
I've been thinking about getting rid of them, but when I do need/want them they are so handy. And I don't have more than 2 other mugs that match, so I'd want to keep the mug set, and then I'm like, "well, if I keep the mugs I should also just keep the dishes..." LOL!

In the china hutch with the nice dishes. Our christmas dishes aren't a dining set; they are a set of cute reindeer dessert plates with matching glasses that I picked up at Crate and Barrel years ago. We use my grandmas china for the main meal and the cute stuff for apps and dessert.
Ugh. My dad keeps talking about having me take the Christmas dishes but I really dont want to store one more thing that will be used for such a short period of time. I'm struggling with where to keep the Dept 56 Christmas Village too
