Today is the last day of my staycation. I mean, I still have this weekend, but it’s my last work day “off” since 12/20. I’ve jumped online a few times, but for the most part I’ve just been lazy which has been amazing. I’m currently sitting at a bagel shop while my cleaners are at the house waiting for stores to open so I can go shopping.
It's my last day of working from home. It has been bliss and I am sleeping so good. I dread having to take the take the train again. But part of me is ready to be among people again.
I waiting for DD to wake up and I am hoping she sleeps till 10 because I have calls till then (one in which I am hosting) and I need to take her to my MIL. I have kid duty after work because DH is going to Austin sans us to pick up my other DD.
I took our new car in for an oil change this morning, and they said we are going to need 2 new tires. I'm not shocked since it has around 46k miles on it, but ugh. I have spent more money on car related stuff than on any other expense (aside from fixed bills like rent/SLs/etc) in the last year. At least 2 tires is only around $180 for this car. I think we're going to wait until next month regardless.
I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning. I've been trying to stay off the scale but I need to watch what I'm eating a lot better. It's right after the holidays so I'm not surprised my weight is up, but it was up around 7 lbs since the last time I weighed myself (probably a month ago?). Hopefully that was a fluke and I didn't actually gain that much. Because I'm already plenty overweight. I really want to not care, but I also can't wake up someday weighing 300lbs and having related health issues so...
I tried repeatedly to book bus tickets for travel within Italy and the stupid site WOULD NOT WORK and kept declining my payment. I mean I tried probably 10 different times, on multiple computers, with different cards, etc. So this morning I booked train tickets. They cost twice as much and take an hour longer, but I just can't chance being unable to get from one place to another and leaving stuff to the last minute stresses me out when it comes to stuff like that (which is funny given what a procrastinator I am on a lot of things). I'm pissed at the bus website. I can't seem to find any bus alternatives that let you book ahead, though, so at least I've booked something I guess.

I whined and complained about going back to work on a Thursday, but I actually am glad we did, because now it's Friday and I have a whole weekend ahead of me.
Plumbers are coming back today to install the new faucet we needed. Happy 2020! The sprayer hose had a leak and they weren't able to find that same hose in stock and a new hose would have a new attachment hence the whole new faucet. Except our current setup has 4 holes and most only have one now so we'll have a plate covering the old holes. I think it will be ok.
I'm meeting a guy from SMU to practice case interviewing at noon and I'm really not prepared and I'm pretty sure I'm going to embarrass myself. Oh well. I'll never have to see him again.
This afternoon I'm going to let our dogs swim in the pool. Our older dog that we're putting to sleep tomorrow morning LOVES swimming, but she can't get herself out of the pool anymore so that meant no swimming once it got cold because we have to stand in knee deep water to lift her out. But seeing as it's her last full day on earth I figure I can suck it up. She's definitely telling us it's time, though. She's pooped herself on her bed twice a day every day this week.
Shipping shit blows. UPS lost my parents' Christmas gift shipment. It was a Yeti cooler, the backpack one, for their boat, and some other random stuff (puzzles, a NYT crossword book). I wrapped the smaller stuff and placed it inside the cooler itself, then wrapped the cooler, then put it back in the Yeti cooler box for shipping. H paid $34 on 12/16 to ship it (1 state away--WTF UPS?).
What H DIDN'T do was insure the box for the full value of the contents. And I don't have a receipt for said cooler, b/c it was given to H as part of a compensation package for work (there is no "purchased receipt"). So, now, we're only going to get $100 (standard insurance) + a refund of the shipping cost. I can't "replace" a Yeti cooler for $100--the cheapest one is $250, and I ain't spending that on a damn cooler for my parents--they would be pissed off that I spent that much OOP. As a comp item, fine. Paid for OOP? Nope.
I'm just mad AF, at myself and H for dropping the ball on how we should have handled the shipping. And, on top of it all, now I don't know WTF to get my parents for Christmas. JFC.

I'm so sorry about tomorrow but you're definitely doing the kindest thing for her., Love that you're giving her a fun last day. I took my Bailey girl in the car (her fav) to McDonald's and got her a cheeseburger on her last day. <3
I have the flu and it suuuuucks. I have barely moved in 3 days. My dr put me on tamiflu so I’m hoping it helps a little. Also, even though I know that the flu shot isn’t 100% effective I’m still annoyed that I got the flu even though I’m really good about getting my shot each year! I’m being petty about it.

Just an fyi, we had a pull down from the faucet type sprayer that developed a leak in the hose. I called the company, Moen, and they sent a new one for free. I am not handy, and I could easily install it with no tools. Just needed to know the model number.
Sorry about your pup. My heart goes out to you, as you say goodbye. Hugs.
I'm WFH with DS again today. I am hoping for another quiet day and to get him out of the house a bit this afternoon if work is not busy, but it's also raining :/
wildrice, I'm in the same boat as you. I try not to weigh myself too often and usually hover around the same number (which is higher than I would like). I had my yearly physical on Dec. 30th and I was up 9 lbs. I was kind of horrified. I know it's post-holiday and I've been eating and drinking a lot over the past 2 weeks, but I really need to get a handle on this. One more party this weekend and then I swear I'm cracking down, ha.

I'm going on vacation next week, so I know I won't be really shaping up until we get back (the 21st). I am going to try not to use that as an excuse to eat everything in sight until we leave, though, lol. I hope we both get a handle on it! I will be doing a lot of walking on our trip so I hope that offsets some of the vacation gain.
TR I'm really sorry about Stella. I think it's lovely you are taking her for a swim today, though. She's a lucky dog to have parents who have loved her so much.

Thank you. Ours is a separate sprayer and I don’t even know the brand of the set, let alone the model. Oh well. The new faucet will be an upgrade at least.
Last weekday of break. I am so glad we came back from holiday travels early enough to have a big chunk of time at home. It's been the perfect mix of productive, fun, and relaxing. I'm planning to use the next three days to do a lot of prep for the next couple weeks of Girl Scouts, PTA, and life in general.
Ugh. Bathtub is *still* leaking. An actual plumber should be here shortly and I really hope they can quickly diagnose the issue. It seems like it shouldn't be that big of a deal based on where the water is coming from, but I don't really know what's going on with it. The whole thing is really stressing me out. I don't like water issues.
My dog is having issues adjusting to the new house. I set her up in a bedroom and I gave her all of her favorite things (including the couch from our apartment since I’m buying a new one). She will not stop barking and freaking out. I took her to daycare yesterday to wipe her out. Still having issues. I bought her a cozy new bed and she tore it to shreds. She’s dumping her food bowl out all over the floor. It’s only her 2nd day in there so I’m sure it will get better, but damn.
I can't "replace" a Yeti cooler for $100--the cheapest one is $250, and I ain't spending that on a damn cooler for my parents--they would be pissed off that I spent that much OOP. As a comp item, fine. Paid for OOP? Nope.
That stinks--I hate that feeling of having lost something of value and not being able to replace it.
I was at the Yeti HQ store in December to use a coupon and saw that they sell slightly imperfect coolers at that location for discounted prices. The smallest hard-sided cooler that usually sells for $250 sells for $100 there and each one was listed with the imperfection (scratches or dents). Give them a call and explain the situation and see if they can ship one of the reduced price coolers directly. The phone number for the campus store location is 512-501-6179 and they were very helpful when I went in there.

I have a few friends with the ozark brand from Walmart that really like them. I’m sure it’s not a yeti but they’re around $40-50.
Last day of break! I spent yesterday afternoon in my classroom making copies and planning the week. I’m so glad I went in yesterday. I don’t have to think of school until Monday morning.
DH and are going to the gym at noon and then my team from school is having a party tonight. We try to all get together at least once during break. It should be fun.

Today we have professional cleaners coming to do a "move out" deep cleaning on old house before photographer comes to take pictures of it for the listing.
I'm sitting in the living room feeling a little sad. Probably more than a little. Even though it's way too small and not practical at all for us to keep, I love this house. It's been a good 5 years.

Yes! Totally get the Ozark brand. I was just talking to my cousins about this and they have a bunch of friends who are commercial fishermen who say to get ozark. The yetis are insanely expensive!
But I am sorry that happened I would have been so excited to give an “extravagant” gift like that also.
