for those of you that buy these, how long do you continue to use it throughout the week? we got one over the weekend and my husband and I are debating whether to use some of the leftover chicken tomorrow for pitas.
Probably longer than I should? LOL My general rule with leftovers is to use it before the week cycles. So, if I made/bought it on Sunday, I'd eat it up until that following Saturday. My lunch today is leftovers from Saturday and also happens to be chicken. I would still eat it tomorrow if I had any left.
If I don’t have 3 immediate meals planned for it, I pull the meat off and freeze it ASAP so I don’t forget about it.
If I don’t get around to removing the meat to use or freeze, and it’s been 3-4 days, I just use the whole thing to make broth, or I freeze the whole thing to use for broth later.
I’ve cut way back on buying the whole chickens because I’ve realized that I’m not too interested in using the meat more than twice and therefore i don’t want to be wasteful.
I tend to go about a week. I bring it home, pull all the meat off it and then use it for salads and stuff. It's just me so it takes a couple extra days usually to eat it all.
That would be a big no for me! I can only eat reheated meat if it’s *in* something. Reheated plain chicken or any other meat taste so bad to me, but I could eat, say, chicken enchiladas with the same chicken for days. I have issues.
I have this same issue! Reheated on the stove in mole = amazing. Reheated plain chicken in the microwave = nope nope nope.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of reheated meat, but if it's something that I can repurpose, like turn chicken in to soup, or steak in to fajitas, then I am much more likely to eat the leftovers. I'll also eat leftover meat cold, like cold fried chicken, or turn rotisserie chicken in to chicken salad, or leftover shrimp as a salad topper, stuff like that.
