It has been a long full week. I am ready to sleep in a couple of days. Still helping my new staff through some of the initial training. I got to start my day drinking my favorite coffee at DD and DS's school, for work, so that helped start a Friday.
Tonight, I am taking DD to meet a friend to get their ears double pierced. She is super excited and had to curl her hair this morning for the event. I am looking forward to going to bed early. DH is working this weekend, so it should be low key. Tomorrow, we will go to church then hopefully watch the game.
Sunday I am entering a soup cookoff for the kids old private school. I am doing a creamy chicken noodle and spicy cornbread. It is not a winner, but its good, people like it and it is for a good cause.
I took a sick day today. I actually went in, and I’m doing a couple of teleconferences this afternoon, but mostly I’m taking the day off. I got a haircut, but am just lying low, feeling borderline crappy.
I don’t think we have any plans this weekend. It’s a reprieve before a whole lot of weekends in a row of birthday parties. I would love a low key couple of days.
In other news, DD got the song she’s going to play for her guitar recital in early April. It’s “Mean” by Taylor Swift. Or more specifically, the chorus of the song and maybe the intro plus chorus if she’s really doing well by then. I’m so surprised she’s going to be able to play an actual song and not Row Row Row Your Boat or something. She’s so excited. Now the question is whether she’s going to sing along or if she’s going to let her teacher sing instead.
Tomorrow will be a fun but very expensive day. We have DS1’s bday party for 15 kids at Dave and Busters, and then we’re going out with 3 other couples at night (so a brewery plus dinner plus babysitter). And I’m getting a hair blowout in the morning
We have basketball, and I have the wake of my co-workers husband on Saturday. Then Pinewood Derby on Sunday. Actually not sure if we will have a car by check in tomorrow because apparently things went sideways which they always do. I don't want to know about it, and DH doesn't want to tell me. Worst case scenario since this is our third year, he can repaint one of the other 2 cars.
We started our weekend early and are in Tahoe. We spent the big bucks and put DD in ski lessons, DS in daycare, and I’ve given up on snowboarding for the day and am hanging out in the bar. Where there is a DJ that’s been mixing Taylor Swift since I got here.
I feel like this week was just never ending and insane. Especially for a short week. I spent 8 hours in a conference room training groups of staff to get the whole company on new software today so I'm officially fried. Beau and I are going out to eat at a fancy restaurant tonight to celebrate my promotion and his place opening. I'm looking forward to a nice, grown up night out. Tomorrow is his son's birthday party so I'm taking the girls. Which means I'm also meeting his ex wife. I knew that all along in the back of my head, but it really hit me today. Yikes.

DD has a birthday party Saturday night, then Sunday night there's a going away party for a family that is moving out of the neighborhood. Complete with a bounce house and everything. We're going to go for a while to that.
We're also supposed to have a playdate but the mom hasn't gotten back to me as to exactly when they want to come over so I don't know when we'll know...
Well if the state doesn't return my phone call in the next 2 hours I will be getting to stay home and not work tomorrow. I called at 9 after 20 minutes on hold they gave me an option to leave a voicemail or continue to hold. I left a voicemail and have been waiting for a return call since. I'm really glad I haven't spent the entire day on hold due to high call volume. The weather is supposed to be nasty all weekend so a low key weekend is in store for us again. DH has to work tomorrow!! I think I might make cookies with DD, grocery shop, clean house, laundry, and take a nap both days.

I’m exhausted. I forgot my thyroid medicine for 4 days and it caught up to me. I’m on day 3 of taking it regularly and still not back to normal. I’m an idiot and busy and know better.
We have basketball, futsal, and the pinewood derby tomorrow. Last night I helped with check in and judging. Poor ds and dh will never win for the design because I’m a judge so I can’t vote for them. Ds’s car is amazing though and they deserve it. It was 100% ds’s design and dh helped in execution.
We also have the school dance tonight so I have to take ds whole dh and ds2 get to sit at home and chill.
I’ve been sick with a cold all week. Blah. DD has ballet, then a birthday party to attend today. It’s at a roller skating place and she can’t skate, so I see myself having to hang around the whole time to keep her from melting down. Gotta grocery shop but I think I’ll wait till after the party for that because we’re having heavy rains this morning. Double blah.
I’m heading to a funeral for the father of an old friend. He was sick for a long time, and she is devastated. I didn’t know him well, so I feel awkward about attending the graveside service. So I plan to leave after the church service.
Later, DD1 has a birthday party. We talked about maybe taking the kids out to dinner to celebrate their progress reports at school.
Tomorrow both kids have basketball a few hours apart, and DH is leaving early afternoon for a business trip. He will only be gone for a few days but I hate when he has to leave over a weekend.
I’m too old for snowboarding. If I were better at it, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I took some epic falls and today I’m paying for it. DH is going back up with a friend and the girls will be staying at the cabin with the kids and going ice skating for a bit. Which wouldn’t be an issue if it were just DD going, but DS wants to skate and will need a LOT of help.
DS1 woke up screaming in the middle of the night and said his ear hurt. So we went to the doctor on the way to his 6th birthday party and it turns out he has an ear infection. At least he felt well enough to still have the party, and he and his friends seemed to have fun.
