I think my agency is about to go from two days per week of work at home to one. So disappointing.
After 7 months of living with us, my parents put an offer in on a house. Fingers crossed it’s accepted! It’s been fine with them here, but it will be nice to have the house to ourselves again.
We skied yesterday and then I went to see Little Women with a friend. It was really good! It's not really my kind of movie, so I was glad that I enjoyed it so much. Makes me want to read the book. I am not sure if I've read it before, but if I have it was when I was a kid.
DH and I talked about our summer vacation yesterday while on chair lifts and I think we've decided to stay in Colorado instead of flying somewhere. There's too much in flux with my job (and not knowing what my PTO situation will be like this summer if I switch) and we both want to use some of the bonus money we're getting to pay my mom back from when she helped while DH was unemployed. It will feel good to reduce that debt to her, even though she never mentions it and told me awhile ago that we should take our time and not pay her back until the kids were done with daycare. As much as I was looking forward to getting out of the country, I'm actually really excited about this. Steamboat is kind of a home away from home for us, so it will be really nice to spend an extended amount of time there and just relax somewhere familiar.
DS1 came down with a mild fever last night. He's otherwise acting ok, so we're just keeping him on ibuprofen, but it looks like it's going to be a lazy weekend at home. I've got groceries to pick up and need to make a Costco run. Other than that, just usual meal prep and laundry. I'm hoping to get a lot of reading in now that I finally finished that book that was dragging. I'm enjoying Evvie Drake Starts Over a lot; it's been a nice change of pace.
I am going to a combo yoga/Pilates class in a little while. Hopefully j don’t make a fool of myself. Then just grocery shopping and chilling until we go to my sister’s tonight. I found out last night that my old office (which was a terrible terrible situation) is still using marketing material with my photo on it. So I emailed the office manager asking to quit doing that. I hate them so much.
It's pouring rain here so I am spending my morning planning our summer vacation. We are going to Colorado, which is a really big trip for us, and I'm trying to figure out how much driving my kids will be able to handle without us all wanting to kill each other.
We are unlikely to go back to Colorado, and each of us has a different "must-see," so I'm trying to put together a realistic schedule that stays within a doable budget. I think I may need to look into a new credit card and try to use points to get some sort of discount on the flights.
I'm really excited, but this will be the biggest trip we've ever taken as a family, and it's a lot of moving parts.

isabel I keep forgetting to thank you for introducing me to the sisal soap bags! We were having issues because 1-I hate washcloths and 2-Eleanor was taking the bar soap and digging into it and smooshing it into multiple pieces.
They solved both problems-and I actually really love using them myself. I even bought some as Christmas presents and everyone was pumped. Thank you!
isabel, I really want to see SW CO and Mesa Verde NP. My H really wants to do Rocky Mountain NP, and we all love horseback riding and hiking. As of right now, I'm looking at 10-11 days, flying into Denver and out of Durango. Staying 3 nights in Estes Park, 2-3 nights at a mid-way point, and then 3 nights somewhere that is an easy drive to Mesa Verde, probably Cortez. But this is all a preliminary outline to present to the family to see if they think they can handle two long driving days within a 10 day period. We may ultimately decide to do either Rocky Mountain or SW Colorado, but I'd like to squeeze it all in if they think they can handle it.
My kids will be 8.5 and 12, so they theoretically have reached ages where they would be able to handle longer road trips.

I’m on day 2 of a migraine, but H is home all weekend and we want to make it fun for DS. We’re taking him to a fake snow event. H is convinced he’ll like it, but seems to forget he has sensory issues. Wish me luck lol.

jinkies That sounds like a great trip! We did RMNP/Denver/EP/Boulder a few years ago. This year we’re doing the three other CO national parks plus two in Utah. I adore CO (what we’ve seen of it so far) and hope to move there someday
I’m getting my hair done this morning and then Doing errands. We have not really gone out and done anything for fun in awhile and my anxiety has been pretty bad so we decided to go to a boozy arcade tonight, drink and play arcade games lol. I’m excited for the distraction.

My H has been out of town all week and is coming home tomorrow. I sent him a text this morning that was, “There’s only one more sleep until you have to do the dishes!!! I mean until you come home...” this morning.
DD is playing Pokémon, so I probably won’t see her until she remembers she’s human and needs to eat something. I rocked the baby to sleep for his morning nap, but he’s got a fistful of my hair, so I’m still rocking him, lol.
I going to brunch with a professional network of ladies I don’t really know today. I’m excited to meet new people, but I’m socially awkward in situations like this where I don’t know people well, so I’m kind of equal parts excited and nervous.
Tonight we’re taking one of C’s friends with us to a local minor-league hockey game, so he’s been VERY well-behaved because he knows if he steps out of line we’ll call it off.

This probably doesn't help with you decision making, but Great Sand Dunes NP is really cool and would be fun for the kids (they can go sledding on the sand dunes). It may be do-able depending on what direction you go from Estes. It's about a 3 hour drive from Mesa Verde, so could be an option as your mid-way stop.
I've spent basically no time in SW CO, but am looking forward to getting over there more when our kids are older and can handle the drive. It's actually probably us that can't handle it right now. So. Much. Talking.

Are these exfoliating?
The material is a little rough, so I would say yes. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it's definitely not smooth.
My husband started a new job this past August. We knew for the first year he would get half the usual vacation allotment for the year, which makes sense for a first year at a job. but we just found out that for some reason that holds for the second year, too. So he doesn't get his full vacation allotment until his third year of work. It's going to make next year much tighter than we expected.

We will be going back to steamboat this year for spring break. Anything you can recommend that’s new and fun (restaurants, activities besides skiing)? My older kids will ski most of the time and we will probably tube, maybe take the kids to the hot springs during the day (h and I went once at night...which was enlightening lol). But I will be alone with the 2 1/2 yo most days. We will get a sled and I will take him out to do that, but always looking for ideas. Last ski trip we went and walked around Walmart a bunch. Sigh.

I took my dog to the vet this morning for a swollen cheek and they think it’s a pus pocket from an infected tooth. So $132 today and another $300+ Wednesday to get her teeth cleaned and that one possibly pulled. 😢 She’s a rescue and a nervous Nellie and I feel so bad for her. I got some meds to calm her down the morning I drop her off.
my other dog just got his teeth cleaned Tuesday and needed 3 pulled. He’s 10 and has bad teeth. That was about $400. These dogs are lucky they’re cute. I’ve probably spent over $1k in the last 2 months for routine well visits/shots and these dentals. Hopefully everything settles down until their next well visit in November.
We took my MIL out for breakfast, then she and I went for a mani/pedi. I need to workout soon, then get ready to meet some friends for drinks and dinner. No plans tomorrow other than finish laundry and cook.

We had pancakes and played at the park this morning. I meal prepped and have a batch of cookies ready to bake so that we can have warm cookies when DS wakes up from his nap.
My sister came over and is giving me a facial and then we're going to Target. I wish Saturdays lasted forever.
Bernadine my command just went to 2 days per week and everyone is acting like the building is on fire. They’re so worried about it failing that they’re not looking at how to you know, manage their people. 🤦🏼♀️
We managed a Costco trip this morning. E was in the wheelchair, but she did great and actually wheeled herself a lot. She also get extra samples, kid was milking it!
Now DH is working on some faux IKEA built ins and I’m helping and purging a bit.

My dog needs at least one tooth pulled and it's one of the large ones with multiple roots. We've been quoted between $400 and $1000 to have his teeth cleaned and possibly pulled. He's almost 13, a golden retriever (so honestly, he could die in a few days to another year or two), and all his retriever buddies (our friends who all got retrievers around the same time as us) that were the same age as him have all died in the last few years. Dh and I aren't sure it's worth it, although he is otherwise very healthy except for some arthritis.
His next well visit is in April so I'm just delaying until then I guess.

Wes is sick again, WTF. We are supposed to see a play with my mother tonight so i texted her yesterday to let her know that he’s sick. right off the bat she’s all “well I cant help you bc one illness can kill your father” (1) I would never and can never count on my mom, ever, so I’d never ask (2) I am so tired of my alcoholic father’s alcoholic-ness running my family. It just triggers me when I have another reminder that i am all alone and have no support despite having two parents 45 minutes away.
I keep debating whether or not to take him in to the ER. He isn’t keeping much down, but he has periods of awakeness and just a slight fever. I need to call the urgent care and see if they can give fluids via IV. My poor baby.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

Hmmm. If we go up there in winter, it’s to ski. Most of my activity recs are better for summer.
As far as restaurants, Slopeside Grill by the base is convenient and their pizza is tasty. Cafe Diva is great if you and your H can get a night alone. Creekside Cafe and Winona’s are both great for brunch.
The Jace Romick gallery downtown has interesting art if you want to walk through there. I wish I had more activity recs for you. Maybe steamboat185 will have more.
My kid has HFM. Joy. We were told there was a breakout at daycare during pick up and this morning he has the hives or whatever all around his mouth and hands.

We’re going to look at a new car after DS gets up from his nap. I’m nervous. I’ve never bought my own car before. I’m determined to play hard ball. Lol

I tend to give K a long time after throwing up before giving her things to drink. Her stomach just cannot tolerate things too soon. Have you tried just letting him suck on an ice cube? I find this give hydration in smaller doses which can be a lot easier on the stomach.

pooh8402, I totally understand your hesitation. I’d feel the same way. As long as it’s not infected, I would assume it’s okay to wait and see. Big hugs to you, I know how hard it is dealing with an elderly dog.
