I made the terrible decision to volunteer to lead a craft for my daughter's Brownie troop. After spending a million years on pinterest, I came up with two possible ideas that 7-8 year old girls could potentially complete in 15 minutes.
I just bought the supplies and tried to make samples, and neither one is going to work.
I am not crafty. I am having the regrets about volunteering.
Google things that troop leaders have done in the past. There are tons of ideas that will be just right for their age and skill set.
I feel like we have used one that is not pinterest that was really easy. I will try to find it.
I've about had it with this mental load shit, y'all.
DH and I have talked several times in the last year about a pre-tax parking savings fund thing that his employer offers. He was putting money into it, but not reimbursing from the account, so everything he contributed in 2019 is still sitting in there. We talked a month or two ago about him filing for reimbursement so we would get that money back because he certainly spent more than what's in that account on either public transportation or parking. This morning, it popped into my head that I hadn't seen any sort of reimbursement come through, so I asked him about it. Of course he hasn't fucking done it. The deadline to file for 2019 is March 1, so a month away. So now I get to keep that in my head and make sure it gets done so that we don't lose a couple hundred bucks (or more?) for a really stupid reason.
He has a lot going on between school and work, but I swear to God, when he is done with school in April, we are having a CTJ talk about this shit. It's fucking exhausting. Own your shit, man!
Our sump pump went out last night or this morning and our basement flooded. Not bad, but enough we are ripping up the last part of our basement that is carpeted. It’s disgusting carpet anyway, so I don’t really care. Just not what we wanted to deal with today. It has rained nonstop the past couple of days. The pumps are both working for now, and the rain has stopped for now but the ground is saturated. It was also windy last night, but we didn’t lose power, so I don’t know why they would have gone out.
We bought a Honda Pilot today. It won't be delivered for a week or two.
Who owns one and loves it?
We love ours, 2012 and it’s never had one problem. I can carpool 6-7. I hope to drive it until our youngest graduates high school. We got it her Kindergarten year. DH and I like reliable cars we can drive a long time. My CRV was my favorite because it drives like a car but we carpool multiple times a week because our two are in year round sports—so the CRV wasn’t as versatile.
I did a little work this morning, had breakfast and went on a short hike. When I came back I saw an email from my editor. It had the reviews of one of the edited volumes I have written a chapter for. The general reviews (for the entire volume) were pretty good. My reviews were really positive; I do not need to make any revisions. I am generally really insecure and feel so good right now. I almost can't believe it. I splurged with eating potato chips for no particular reason just to treat myself.

What are you trying to do/make?
I led Daisies through making a cat toy and a scratching post and I felt like a Girl Scout god, so I’d love to help!
I slept pretty poorly last night, but H and I got up and went to the gym today anyway, which was great. We have both fallen out of the habit of working out pretty badly in the last year or so, but we've decided we are going to go every Saturday and also on the day he works from home. Then I need to find at least 1 other day to do something active myself. I hope we stick with it.
Then we went to a bar to watch a soccer game. I had drinks and it made me super tired, so I came home and napped for over 2 hours! I should have set an alarm. Usually my H will wander in and wake me up sooner than that, but he didn't (I didn't ask him to). I really need to do some homework. I'm ushering a Chinese dance show (Shen Yun, if anyone is familiar) tonight so it's a fun but not very productive day. Tomorrow I'm going to a yoga class with a Meetup group (at a whiskey distillery, lol, so not as healthy as it sounds) and then we'll watch the Superbowl, so hopefully the afternoon will be enough time to get some things done.
I have a huge presentation on Monday. I casually mentioned to my mom that I wasn’t sure what to wear and she felt the need to tell me that I dress frumpy and to cover my fat.
So I’ll be trying to find something to wear this weekend.
Your post just made me think. We all have different things we are willing to spend more money on. No judgement from me, I just don’t get it.
My kids furniture is largely handmade by DH and for DS1 it looks the same as it was when it was made nearly 5 years ago. I am a firm believer in buying nice furniture because it holds up and does not get beat up. Like our couch upstairs, nearly 7 years with kids still looks largely brand new. More expensive stuff means it holds up to rough kids IMO.
I went to the gym this morning. I just love the trainer-he’s the most positive, cheerful person ever! Then I went and got groceries and have been waiting around all day for someone to come and pick up a chair they are buying from me. It’s such a pain selling stuff - so many people interested and then they no show! DH has a kidney stone so he’s been laying around all day. I feel bad for him and he’s supposed to fly out for a work trip tomorrow. I don’t think he should go but it’s a huge thing he would miss this week. We will probably go out to dinner tonight.
My right big toe feels like it has a hair on it, but there's nothing there. It's annoying.
I'm watching Harry Potter and have completely finished two loads of laundry, including putting them away. This is good because last weekend we had one load that has literally been sitting in our living room since Sunday. I just have a load of towels left and the kids' clothes, which is all less annoying to me than my and DH's clothes for some reason.
I should realllly study for my exam on Tuesday and take the practice section from the sample exam, but I just don't want to. Blah.
It's so nice to be able to do all of this stuff in peace without my kids around. lol
Our carpet was soaked! I think everything will be ok as long as the sump pumps keep working and we have our fans working to dry everything else out.IMG]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200201/08b4911738d94385d8918e7cc5a1da30.jpg[/IMG]

I have a 2016 and love it! I’m constantly putting the 3rd row up for extra kids then down for storage and it’s so easy to do, which is great! It feels nice to drive IMO, and not nearly as huge feeling as I was afraid. It’s my second pilot, my first wax a 2006 and I loved that one, too. Prior to these the biggest car I had ever owned was a beetle, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I adapted.
I'm sorry. I know that sucky feeling. Did you try Loft? I have found their swing dresses with a jacket or cardigan to be pretty forgiving. I am wearing one with tights and a jacket to a tense meeting on Monday.
I searched and asked for help here to find my grandmother a dress jacket for Xmas this year. She said she’s worn it before but she felt well enough to meet us for lunch today and she wore it with a leopard print blouse today. She was so excited that I bought it and it looks so nice on her. It makes me so happy that she likes it and even at 96 still wants to look “smart.”
My kids are both using hand me down furniture from when I was a kid. It was cheap back then and still holding up 30+ years later. I actually wish some of it was in worse condition so I could get something new. LOL. The only thing I’ve bought between both kids is an ikea bookcase and a new crib. Why won’t this stuff break?!?

I feel like my kids are easy on their bedroom furniture, but the rest of the house is totally different story. lol

My couch is only 5 years old, but seriously needs to be disposed of in one of those hazmat bags. Between the dog, toddler, baby and my husband it’s grosss. 🤮

The only thing in my house I feel my kids are "hard" on is our dining table and chairs. Those get really gross and the table has scratches and stuff on it from them hitting forks against it and stuff. I'm glad we didn't buy an expensive one when we bought it 6 years ago (it's IKEA). Otherwise though, our stuff doesn't seem to be wearing any faster than I would otherwise expect, and the vast majority of it is IKEA stuff. I fully anticipate DS1 keeping his IKEA bed through high school. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing that is going to wear down for any reason.

I have this that I can throw a blazer over, but I’m not excited about it.

This is how I feel about the Corelle dishes I own. I think my mom bought them on 1996ish and I'm so sick of them. But they're fine, so I'll keep on eating off of them.
