My 40th birthday was on Thursday - On Wednesday I came home from Girl Scouts to find one of my best friends from CA sitting on my couch. Thursday I took work off and had a massage, came home and picked her up and we got our nails done, went to lunch, and then i went to my daughter's friendship party. Thursday evening we had dinner plans so we went to drop my kids off at my Dad's house and my two other best friends surprised me there. We had an awesome dinner and tons of fun. Friday i worked half a day and we all went to lunch and shopping and then we went to my dad's for a "family dinner." Turns out it was a surprise party for me. Then my husband let me know on Saturday we were all road tripping to Austin where we had another amazing dinner and went to see Grace Potter at Austin City Limits. And, on friday I got a call that I got a promotion and a raise.
It was an amazing weekend and I really needed to see my friends. I love my husband for making this happen. <3
followyourarrow , I think Door Dash is good, especially if she will have a good selection of restaurants in her area to choose from. Fruit isn't a bad idea either, though when my mom sends those, I try to break it all down into a container first thing because I find them hard to store in the fridge otherwise and they get eaten better if it's easy to grab. That takes some energy that I'm not sure I'd feel like expending if I had a new baby. So I'd go Door Dash. Also, you're a good sister with all that you've been through. Hugs.
I got to go and snuggle great dane puppies yesterday which was fun. Bought new fish on Saturday and oh, my horse kicked my friend yesterday. So we had about an hour of a refresher of our ground manners yesterday.
I am hoping with a few more reminders this behavior stops because its embarassing. On the flip side, I can only correct behavior presented to me.
World Thinking Day is coming up (for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) and our council does a celebration where troops pick a country, make a poster to learn about the chosen country, and then make a food from that country to share with other girls at the celebration. My Daisy Scouts chose China, and I'm trying to find a few ideas/recipes of things that I can make with 1st grader help and can be easily distributed to 30-ish other girls. There are so many regions and cuisines to choose from, but it's hard to choose when thinking about 1st grader help, lol. Any suggestions?
I was going to say fortune cookies but they’re apparently an American invention so maybe... not. Otherwise, I’m no help for China, sorry! Thanks for the reminder that I need to get myself in gear for World Thinking Day for my two troops.

minzy, yeah, I'm trying to avoid that. I've been googling street foods to try to find things that are individual servings that can be easily handled. There's a candied fruit recipe that I think would probably work (traditionally with hawthorn berries, but strawberries are also suggested) and various buns I think we could do if the girls didn't mind me mixing and proofing the dough before they get to help. I'm unsure if we would have any kind of ability to keep food hot, which throws another wrench in the works.
Also, seriously, our council tried to ignore WTD this year, which led to a big kerfuffle, and it's now troop-leader-led, since council couldn't be bothered to even distribute the materials on how to observe it as a troop let alone have an event! Oh well, at least it's happening.
Is every influencer headed to WDW this week? Even the like C level ones seem to be all for this “hosted” trip. Whatever that means.
My kid wanted to go shopping today which was so cute. We went to HA and bought a few shirts on sale. They had all of the solid basics for a good price so I stocked up.
Then we’ve been switching off tv and games. I finished up some laundry. Dinner with my parents bc they are in town finalizing their build this week.
I’d make the best unemployed person -I mean if I was independently wealthy and didn’t need a job. I walked my dog and did a workout video, did 2 loads of laundry, made lunches for the week.

Why is it so expensive to get your body in shape?! I have painfully tight hamstrings. No amount of stretching or exercise has helped in 3 years. I went to a place where they stretch your muscles for you, pretty much physical therapy, and it’s $200+\mo for 2 sessions a week. I joined, but I’m salty at the price. I figure it’s probably cheaper than copays if I fuck my back up and need surgery so 🤷🏻♀️. If I can have pain free hamstrings, it’ll be worth it.
The kids has off so after my muscle stretching we rode bikes, went to the science center, and then soccer practice. It was a nice day. Oh and I did all the laundry. Well, almost all. I’m never truly ever done. Lol.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

Can you do something with egg roll or wonton wrappers? Those are pretty easy to fill and you can bake instead of fry

Congee? You can keep warm in crock pot, serve in paper cups & kids can top how they want?

LR, how did you find something like this? I definitely need it--my whole body feel so tight all the damn time. I am actively working on drinking more water during the day to combat the problem, and I stretch several times a day and it's not getting any better for me either.
That is expensive, but lordy, I would pay it at this point to get some better flexibility and feel less stiff.

It showed up on FB one day. It’s called “The Stretch Lab” maybe if you google it, something similar will pop up for you in your area? I’m pretty sure it’s a franchise so you might have one.
It felt *so* good to have all the stretching done. It’s so bad that I can’t even touch my toes, or even half way. I’m 40 and it’s not gonna get any better as I get older. I’m trying to rationalize it as “yes it’s pricey but maybe cheaper than going to a doctor when I mess my back up due to tight muscles.”

My mom and I took DS to a trampoline park type place today since we were off and daycare was closed. When we first arrived he sobbed on the floor and said he wasn't ready to jump, so I was like oh great, $23 down the drain lol. He did eventually jump and enjoyed himself though. He also liked the toddler climbing area. It was definitely overwhelming and loud though and I was constantly on alert and worried that he'd bump into a bigger kid and get hurt. As we were wrapping up and he was jumping one more time, he fell kind of oddly on the side of his knee and has been limping around a little since. I really hope he's OK. He doesn't seem to be in pain at all but maybe he's just a little sore. He played all evening with no issues though. Anyway, not sure if we'll go back since that seemed to be more stress than it was worth!

DH is the favorite parent these days, which is fine and probably well-deserved, but when I told DD it was time for bed, she said, “Daddy gets to decide when bedtime is.”
