This week is going to be a little nuts. H is in Vegas for work all week and I have a particularly busy week with school and outside school stuff so Other Stella might be having a late dinner a couple nights this week! I'm trying to not get overwhelmed and just take one day's classes/appointments/assignments at a time.
I mentioned this in the PSA thread, but we just finished Giri/Haji on Netflix last night and it was a really good series. It's only 8 one hour episodes.
DH and I have the week off for midwinter break. I’m working out in a bit and then meeting my mom for a bit of shopping. Tomorrow we are going on a quick overnight trip which hopefully will be fun.
You’re doing so well at school TR I know this week will be easier than you thought!
IT’S A MIRACLE! All the laundry is clean AND put away 🙌 plus today is cleaning lady day so the house will feel amazing this afternoon. Hoping the weather is nice again so we can open the windows .
I’ve been hanging out with my sister once a week or so and it’s been so nice to have a deeper friendship with her. She works at Ds1s school and lives nearby so I see her a lot 🙂
Almost every time we’ve ever called an electrician it’s ended up being for something that wasn’t actually broken. This time is no different. Omg. LOL. So embarrassing. Anyway-I’m using the service call fee to have him add an outlet to my upstairs hallway where I’ve always wanted one so I guess not all is lost.
namasteak - thanks! That's awesome that you get to see your sister often I was just talking with H yesterday about sibling relationships and how much they fascinate me as an only child. I'm reading a book right now that involves a close sibling relationship, too, and I just can't stop wondering what that's like, haha. To have so many shared experiences and memories with someone.

I have a doctors appointment today and there’s no daycare, so DS is going to hang out with my dad. I’m gonna make an IKEA and Costco run after my appointment. Super thrilling day off. Lol

Silver lining?
Conversely, we recently called an electrician to add a new basement outlet and circuit for our new sump pump system and they ended up needing to replace almost all the wiring in the house to the tune of all of my money so..... I hope the next time we call it’s actually nothing!

I have been so cold recently. I'm at work shivering right now and wondering if I should get another cup of tea to try and warm myself up. I'm going to be in LA in a couple of weeks for a work trip and I can't wait for even a small break from this freezing weather.

I’m home with DS today. The trip to urgent care yesterday was kind of scary. His fever wouldn’t get lower than 104 and they couldn’t get his heart rate down. Thankfully they got everything under control, but it was nerve wrecking.
I slept at my parents last night to stay with their dog while they were out of town for the night. He's a huge, goofy 100 lb husky poodle mix. Just over a year old. He's normally really chill and good, albeit a little neurotic.
He woke me up around 12:30, pacing back and forth from the spare room to my parents room. I got out of bed to see what he was up to and he ran to the back door to go outside. I let him out and walked into the kitchen for a glass of water and realized he got into the garbage (my mom claims he has never so much as tried to sniff the garbage) and it was all over. He definitely ate a bunch of not so dog friendly food (pizza crust, a side cup of hot sauce and blue cheese). Cleaned it all up and changed the liner so he wouldn't get into anything. Then he would NOT come in the house. He was running around the yard in circles and barking at me every time I called him. Finally after about 45 minutes he came in and still thought it was playtime. By the time I got him settled down and fell back asleep in was after 3 am. Thankfully he's cute. LOL. I'm exhausted.
It never fails my birthday was Friday and I have been sick all weekend. I think I have a sinus infection and hope I can get a doctors appointment. Last year was the same thing. I am going to stay on my couch today.

Quick rundown of the day: drop packages at UPS and FedEx [returns from my Loft/Ann Taylor/Nordstrom/Neiman Marcus spending extravaganza--almost all of it is going back ::sobs::], dentist w/ my boy, Sonic movie.
I heard a cool "tip" last month about weeding clothes, etc.: take one thing that you might want to purge out of your closet/drawer/wherever every day. Place in box. At the end of 30 days if you have not worn/used/thought about any of the items, take that box to a donation center/women's shelter/other place in need. I am doing that today--I specifically have a box of professional/work clothing that I can't wear anymore b/c it is too big.
ETA: And it is bittersweet that these clothes are going away, b/c I love them. Mostly Loft shirts, NY&Co. dress pants. They were my favorites.

Omg. Yes I’m glad it’s nothing versus something, but it’s still a little embarrassing. But...I’m not an electrician so 🤷♀️. Glad I had something on my “would be nice” list for him to do though. Repairing all the wiring sounds like a nightmare.

We had to call someone because the pilot light on our water heater wouldn’t light. He acted like we were idiot lady people. So I get you! Enjoy your new outlet!

We are driving back from our ski vacation today. It was fun but my legs are not cut out for three ski days in a row. Now a 6 hour drive home.
I’m annoyed because there was a sob story posted on one of my Facebook groups of someone looking for (refundable) bottles so she could buy her kid a birthday gift. I have a whole bag that I normally donate to the cat shelter but told her she could come by for them tonight if she wanted. Since then she has spammed my Facebook messenger with stupid Facebook game links. No I’m not interested in playing Grand Harvest Solitaire with you. It makes me not want to give her the bottles because I’m so annoyed.
I’m off today, H is working, and the kids are at their Dads. I had a really bad weekend, emotionally, so I’m using today to hopefully recharge. I’m at breakfast by myself right now and then I’ll be getting a mani/pedi.
My BFF is having serious marriage trouble and I'm stressed and worried for her. I've always liked her H but it turns out he's an asshole. She lives 10 hours away and I have no idea what I can do to help.
Also I'm pregnant and have my first appointment tomorrow (almost 7 weeks). I'm excited but nervous and ready to get it over with.
Other than that, I'm trying to be useful today. DS doesn't have school on Mondays anyway (part time pre-k) so this is a normal day for us. I was going to take him to the bounce house place but mentioned it before I remembered school is closed so it will probably be packed. Oh well.
DS is having minimal pain in his foot and ankle today so that's good. Still limping but definitely better. I'm on my second cup of coffee and being a couch potato myself. I did get laundry started so that's something. In theory I should walk the dog, but he's napping next to me and not asking to go out, so I don't think I should force him lol. Maybe after my coffee. DS is upstairs in his room, with his headphones on, so it's so peaceful in my house right now. Just the distant sounds of the washer and the dog snoring

I am starting a weekly Hello Fresh order for my parents this week. Fingers crossed that 1) everything arrives the way it should, 2) they like it and 3) it actually makes their lives easier.
My dad fell off the roof last fall and he and my mom are still dealing with the aftermath of that in terms of injuries healing. He has gone from being 100% independent and in great health to not being able to drive, being on a slew of meds, and slowly, s-l-o-w-l-y healing from a TBI. He's incredibly lucky to be alive, but it has still been a massive, abrupt change and frankly I'm not sure if he's ever going to get 100% back to where he was. My mom was already the main one helping out with her dad and her mom's care (my grandma is in a memory care facility with Alzheimers) and now she has to care for my dad as well.
In a lot of our conversations recently it was clear that meal planning, shopping and cooking were weighing on her. I'm 8 hours away and there's only so much I can do, but I'm hoping that having two meals a week accounted for reduces her stress levels.
DH and I have the week off for midwinter break. I’m working out in a bit and then meeting my mom for a bit of shopping. Tomorrow we are going on a quick overnight trip which hopefully will be fun.

We watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last night. Two people told me they love this movie. It was terrible. There were like 20 good minutes at the end and that's it. Howwwwwwww did this get nominated for anything?
Well I know how but lord that was brutally boring. DH and SD hated it too. SD went to take a shower after trying to stick it out for 2 hours.
I did my CPR certification this morning and now I’m at the allergist with DS1. I think I’m going to go for a walk with my bestie this afternoon. This week looks relatively calm on the calendar, we’ll see if it actually stays that way! I’m going on a girls weekend this Friday and I am SO ready.

I fractured my wrist snowboarding on Saturday. I followed up with a surgeon this morning and thankfully don’t need surgery, but my dominant arm is immobilized and useless for 4-6 weeks. Showering is not fun, and I am dreading getting ready for work tomorrow. And I have to fly to CA for work Wednesday to Thursday. I hope these weeks go by quickly.

My weekend was really nice. Valentine's at home with us shucking oysters ourselves (we had 34!), and crab as a main, and two kinds of chocolate cake for dessert. Saturday we did an escape room with friends and went for an extensive happy hour, Sunday I cleaned the house, did laundry, got groceries together with DH, and I read in my book. I did not do any work woohoo. And today I am having the worst case of the Mondays! I frequently have those after nice weekends...
I got an email from the recruiter this morning that he talked to the director and she had "nothing but good things to say." He asked when I was available for a call and I still have an hour and a half before I told him I would be available. I'm just anxious and excited to get the actual offer. I think I'm going to head to the gym now, work out some of this nervous energy.
DH commented last night that I'm not going to be able to wear my "uniform" at this job, so apparently we were thinking similarly about my closet. lol He didn't blink when I told him I needed to spend $500, so that's good at least.
A meeting I had this morning just further cemented that I need to get out of here. There is so much disrespect among our executive team and it's really uncomfortable as a bystander.
Clearly I have one thing on my mind these days. lol

I need food help.
Take pity on a scout leader.
World Thinking Day is coming up (for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts) and our council does a celebration where troops pick a country, make a poster to learn about the chosen country, and then make a food from that country to share with other girls at the celebration. My Daisy Scouts chose China, and I'm trying to find a few ideas/recipes of things that I can make with 1st grader help and can be easily distributed to 30-ish other girls. There are so many regions and cuisines to choose from, but it's hard to choose when thinking about 1st grader help, lol. Any suggestions?

My sister got married this weekend and is being induced tomorrow. Is a gift card for Doordash a good gift? I don't really want to do flowers. I could do an edible arrangement though if that would be better.
