I’ve seen opinions comparing it to the outcry after his BS presentation/ initial so-called summarization of the Mueller report as a complete redemption for #45. As in- no, no it won’t mean a thing.
Although others think it might help Pelosi’s decision in opening an impeachment inquiry. So I’m no help, sorry.
This depends entirely on your definition of "meaningful."
So no then. Got it. Sigh.
I mean, it's not going to do anything to get Barr out of office. He's not going to resign to save face because of it or anything. It theoretically could lead to an impeachment inquiry for Barr.
But people are speaking out en masse that this isn't OK. And that's important and means something.
ABC News has learned President Trump expected to commute the sentenced of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich via multiple senior level sources
ETA: I cannot see any logic to Trump pardoning Blagojevich other than to make a statement that it's fine to sell public offices for personal gain. Like if he were a well-liked Republican politician and this would play well to Trump's base, I could totally understand Trump doing that (I would be outraged but utterly unsurprised). But that's not the case. Putting on my tinfoil hat for a moment, is it crazy to wonder if maybe the GOP could be preparing to get ahead of a news story about a Republican governor doing the same thing? Say, one who just installed a wealthy business executive with no legislative experience? (I have no evidence or serious reason to speculate about this, but I feel like Trumpworld has totally warped my sense of reality.)

Because it was Obama's seat. If it was anyone else he wouldn't bother.
That is how a child thinks and acts and we all know how childish this baffoon is.
Eh, if this was his only pardon today I'd be inclined to agree. But from the pattern it looks like he's just declaring a free-for-all on fraud and bribery.
ETA: I don't know what Blagojevich's financial situation is, but I hope someone is looking to see whether these assholes made campaign contributions.

He’s also on a pretty obvious pardon spree so as to direct attention/ outrage away from the upcoming Stone pardon.
Also, I just saw a plea for Dem candidates, ahem Bloomberg, to fire up those ads on 45’s supposed “Fight Against Corruption” they were trying to sell 5 mins ago. 🙄 Ukraine anyone? He’s releasing corruption into the streets of this country left & right!
Yeah, all of these pardons are for his “peers” who are in prison for things like bribery, fraud, and corruption. Of course Trump doesn’t think those are crimes. (And yes, Roger Stone will join them almost immediately.)
TL;DR - Nominating Bloomberg because he's "electable" is silencing the criticisms and opinions of black and brown Americans, and playing into Trump's hands. By glossing over Bloombergs issues with women and POC, the GOP will call us hypocrites and we won't be able to take the moral highground on Trump's racism or sexism.
"Bloomberg, imbued with the shamelessness of a man too rich to ever hear the word "no," openly bragged about the racism motivating the policy, telling a crowd in Aspen in 2015 that 95% of murderers are "male, minorities, 16 to 25" and that this supposed fact was enough to justify treating an entire demographic as suspicious and a policy that amounted to "throw them up against the walls and frisk them." (As Blow notes, 90% of people stopped in this way were innocent, cutting directly against Bloomberg's assignation of collective guilt to young men of color.)
"In similar comments in 2011, Bloomberg said that this "enormous cohort of black and Latino males, age, let's say, 16 to 25" doesn't "know how to behave in the workplace where they have to work collaboratively and collectively."
"Michael Kranish of the Washington Post also published a lengthy article detailing Bloomberg's verbal diarrhea when it came to expressing his uglier views on women. He allegedly told female employees that they were ugly and that they should reward a male colleague for getting married by lining "up to give him [oral sex]".
"In a legal complaint against Bloomberg, one employee said that Bloomberg, upon hearing that a female employee was having trouble finding child care, yelled, "It's a f**king baby! All it does is eat and s**t! It doesn't know the difference between you and anyone else! All you need is some black who doesn't even have to speak English to rescue it from a burning building!""

I have a weird non-sequiter about Blagojevich. I was texting my FI, telling him the news, and I paused after I typed "Rod," because I was pretty sure I didn't know how to spell it. But guess what came up in my auto-suggest? That tells me I must have talked about him a LOT in 2009. All praise be to SwiftKey.
Attorney General William Barr has told people close to him he’s considering quitting over President Trump's tweets about Justice Department cases, an administration official says.
There were helicopters roaming around all freaking day as a result of the news of Blago’s release. His home is just on the other side of the river from my neighborhood and it was driving me nuts. They were going for HOURS.

********************************************************* ETA: Sorry it's not quoting the box above. I don't know how to fixt that.
Here in Michigan - land of the Trump loving blue collar, pro-union Democrat, Bloomberg adds have been on the TV constantly. Yes, I watch tv - local morning news for traffic and weather, Jeopardy on occasion and I'm still hanging on to the end with Criminal Minds (series finale tonight).
I noticed this morning that Bloomberg ads have pivoted away from just bashing Trump to include specific ideas. HIs add today was about addressing income inequality as the result of historically racist practices. I have no idea if his plans hold any water and it doesn't excuse stop and frisk. I think the ad does demonstrate that he has a good campaign team that is good at messaging - addresses racism concerns, provides a counterpoint to Bernie's income inequality plan (what is his plan, take down Wallstreet?) and shows him as a more competent business man/job creator than Trump is. At least that's the intention and I'm sure lots of older, moderate voters will like it.
If Bloomberg is at all successful in the debate tonight, I see his numbers jumping to the mid 20's in polls and Warren seriously considering dropping out. I think Biden will hang on longer because he has less to lose than Warren in the long run. I hope it pushes Biden to drop out and Warren to stay in, but I don't see that happening. I think Warren has a good chance at being picked for VP running mate by either Sanders or Bloomberg. She's also "old" but has more moderate ideas than Sanders and more progressive ideas than Bloomberg.
My plan is to vote for Warren in the primary, so I'm not suggesting to anyone that they should only vote for one of these two, I'm just making predictions. I hope I'm wrong and Warren rises to the top, but I don't have that much faith.
