My bff got really good news yesterday. I’m trying so hard to be supportive and excited for her, but it also means her moving 3 hours away. We’ve only lived close-ish (1.25ish hours apart) again for less than 6 months after living cross-country from each other for almost 20 years. It was SO NICE.

People amaze me. My FIL lives next door, and his 2nd floor is a small apartment he rents out. Currently, it's being rented to a guy probably about 10 years older than us. Apparently, the renter asked my FIL last week if it would be okay if he asked my DH if he got his own motorcycle insurance, would my DH let him ride his motorcycle?
We don't know this guy at all. He hasn't lived there long, and I don't think my DH has even met the guy yet. I was just like... who asks this type of stuff from strangers??!
I'm sorry dock. In the past 1.5 years 4 of my local friends moved OOS. It's hard.
H and I are currently trying to get our ducks in a row to move to my hometown (2.5 hours from our current city). My local friends are sad and I am too. Leaving the people is the hardest. The traffic & HCOL are easy to happily leave. The people are so hard.
On a happy note I'm so freaking excited about what amazing house in a L/MCOL we can get for what our TH in a HCOL will sell for! We will upgrade to a SFH with 3-4 bd AND get a tesla AND try to get our new house as close to a zero footprint as possible. Not all at once of course, but still.
I wish I was a more decisive person. My "worry of the week" is about where we are going to move this summer - with March coming up next week, I'm realizing that if we do end up buying something, we need to get moving relatively soon on getting pre-approved, starting to look, etc if we want to close 3 months from now. The frustrating thing is that there is no real good solution on where to live. Location is really so much more important to me/us than the actual dwelling, and H and I work about 1.5 hours or so apart from each other so there isn't really a good place to live that won't give one or both of us a crappy commute. Given that I am really leaning toward staying in the city where we live now, since we both like it. But that seems like an obvious preference for me - it means H's commute still sucks and mine doesn't, lol. But I feel like I have made a lot of choices and sacrifices for his career already (like, quitting a job I really liked to move across the country!) so is it fair for me to make another sacrifice or is it his turn to suck it up?
Having a partner is hard - it stinks always having to consider and balance another person's needs! We have one of the easiest marriages I know of since we typically get along, want the same things, and have little reason for conflict, and yet there is still stuff to figure out.
About 6 months ago DS2 lost our fire tv stick remote somewhere in the house. We looked EVERYWHERE. For awhile we used the app on our phones/tablets to control it and then I finally bought a new one when they were on sale a couple months ago. Saturday morning, DS1 loses the new remote (when his brother was napping so he can't blame it on the baby!). He starts looking for it and pulled up the couch cushions, went through toy bins, looked under furniture. Can't find it anywhere. WTH kids!! THEN later that day DS2 was on the couch and felt something. He reaches behind the cushion (that he just pulled off earlier) and finds the OLD remote. That's been lost for 6 months. The cushions have been off that couch at least 10 times since then and there aren't many places for something to hide in it.
I am so stumped but at least we have one that works. And maybe we'll find the new one in another 6 months in our magic couch.

What?! That's bold. Who would even say yes in that scenario?
Both of my kids are back in school today. DS was out since Friday and DD got sick yesterday with a low grade fever. They were fever free today so my exH sent them. Hopefully they're okay.
I'm really craving an Inside Out and I'm trying to decide if I should get one on my way home from work today. The problem is, the pizza shop is near my work and I'm not sure if it'll still taste good in an hour when I get home.

I have one more day of teaching before Spring Break and feel like I am running on empty. Going to have my nails done right after work and then make some vegan butter chicken.
dock, I can imagine you feel that way. I have a lot of friends who live far away (mostly because I moved so far) and I miss them a lot. However, thank goodness for the internet- I do have contact with them all the time.

Whats an Inside Out?
Sorry, I always forget that they're a local thing. The easiest way to describe it is like you take a small pizza with the sauce and cheese and toppings, fold it in half, seal the edges and the deep fry it. Not even remotely healthy but oh so delicious!

I'm sorry Dock. I only live about 1 - 1.5 hours away from most of my friends, but they think because I'm in a different state the road only goes from my house to their house. Thankfully with social media we can stay in touch, but it's not the same.
I have to make another call to move my counseling initial apt. because I double booked myself. I'm already getting anxiety if 30 min sessions will be enough.
Finally, I wish there was a more green way to dispose of toothbrushes. I've been trying to throw out a disposable one every couple of days when sick to avoid getting the germs. I've had three cold/flu's already in 2020, so I think I've thrown out almost 6 toothbrushes. At least when I'm healthy I use a rechargeable (plug in) with swap out heads to cut down on some waste.

Wait, is that a thing? I definitely don't do that. At most, if one of us has a bacterial infection I'll boil the toothbrushes, but otherwise, I don't really do anything. Should I be?

No - you can't reinfect yourself with the same illness.
You probably want to keep yours away from your family's while you're sick, though, and I guess replacing afterward isn't a bad idea. But you don't need to replace your own for your sake.
Related random, my toothbrush was wet and had toothpaste mashed into it when I went to brush my teeth last night. H was already asleep and I assumed he used mine by mistake, so I threw it out. I found out this morning that he did ALMOST use it but realized it was mine and didn't. Which explains the mashed in toothpaste. Now I feel bad for wasting a toothbrush!
Holy shit. Mortgage rates are amazing. We can refinance to a 30 year for 1.5 percentage points less than we’re at now. We’re checking on the 20 year term to see if we can basically continue the same monthly payment and cut the loan term by a third. Unfortunately the 15 year increases the payment more than I’m comfortable with, but 20 year may be a sweet spot.
Product rave: I used Chagrin Valley bar shampoo for well over 6 months and was about ready to give up on bar products entirely. I decided to try Lush shampoo and bought the Seanik bar shampoo and American Dream bar conditioner. I love both so much. My hair feels just like it did when I was using bottled products and it doesn’t get greasy easily like it did when I was using the CV products. Well worth the price to eliminate the plastic.

Hmmm...do you mind me asking what rates you're seeing? I think ours is 3.75%.

I use Wowe toothbrushes. The bamboo handles are biodegradable. Love them. They aren't too much more expensive than the average brush and they don't contribute as much to the landfill as a plastic toothbrush.
I went to the going away party that I was unsure about going to. I had fun and I’m glad that I went. I can’t see myself being friends with any of them outside of work, but it was fun. I really needed it.
I took all three dogs to the vet for their annual appointments this afternoon. I'm exhausted. lol They are pretty wiped out too...they haven't even thought about dinner, and it is 2 hours past their usual time to start pestering me for food.
I forgot how long it takes to get everyone ready, into various and into the car. DH usually comes along or at least helps load them up, but he is oot on business so I was on my own.
We have a wagon in the car that we use at the garden center and places like that, so I used it to get the three of them into the office and it worked out pretty well. They seemed to enjoy being in it and it kept them corralled in the examination room. Someone peed on the blanket in it though, so I had to clean the wagon when we got home, but that's a small price to pay for otherwise well behaved pups. The vet and tech kept talking about how well behaved they were (even Fiona when they trimmed her nails), and all I could think of was that it's like how your kids can be whiny, rude jerks at home, but in public they are polite and wonderful. Fiona is usually a huge jerk when we clip her nails, and the tech did it without any problems, and in record time. Not fair!
There was a woman waiting to pay her bill who audibly gasped when she heard the woman tell me how much our bill was. I think I laughed at her gasp. It was a pretty big bill, but with three senior dogs, bloodwork, etc., and a couple of prescriptions refilled, it wasn't a surprise...I was like 'here, just take all of my money' before they even said the total. lol

Ever heard of Color Street? Their nail stuff is cool (I got a free accent sample to try) but no I don't want to be a NAIL BOSS BABE!!1!1 I don't want to host a stupid party even if I don't have to do shit and it's online. I have 5 different parties on my FB going on and I'm inundated by nail-polish-everything. Another MLM has eaten my friends.
My 12.5 year old dog had cancer for the second time. First one was liver cancer 2.5 years ago. Now it’s an adenocarcinoma of the anal glands. It’s pretty agreeing given how fast it’s popped up (<2 weeks and it’s already 5”x3”). *sigh* The vet was far more focused on upping her arthritis meds and keeping her moving and comfortable. Treatment options were only briefly discussed. Which is fine, bc we wouldn’t put her through another major surgery at her age. But it sucks.

Our lender quoted me:
3.375% for a 30 year 3.25% for a 20 year 2.875 for a 15 year

After I replied to you I texted H on the subject and he checked Costco and they had 3.25% (I assume 30 yr) and $1025 in fees. Just in case you want to check there too.

No fees/points with our lender. Not sure if we'll need an appraisal yet. I won't shop it, but it sounds like there are definitely options out there. Part of it for us is our LTV is pretty high because we've not even been here a year yet. I'm sure that affects the rates.
