I just posted a reminder to vote in my alumni group because there are a bunch of Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma folks due to where our school was (AR). It is a 90% republican evangelical group but I know there are some secret democrats and independents in there. And some disillusioned republicans.
MA here. I’m really hoping Warren comes out on top. Her street team has been super active here in the last week (I see door knockers daily). And I finally convinced my Biden leaning mother to vote for her.
I early voted in TX for Warren. It may have been a throwaway vote, but I don’t like the idea of voting strategically and I hate the narrative that she’s not electable which just leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy of people not voting for her and look at that, not electable. It’s bullshit. End rant.
I early voted last week, but my husband is voting on Tuesday. He’d planned to vote for Pete but may vote for Biden now. We both think Sanders is unelectable and will be a disaster for down ballot races (I’d love to be wrong though). I told him to vote for whoever he liked the most though.
CO here. Both DH and I are unaffiliated so we got both ballots for R and D, it was tempting to do the R and put someone in other than Trump. But we both filled out D. DH said he hadn’t done much research and there were a few on our ballot that have since dropped out, and I told him to not vote for an old white guy and he said that was good direction, tho I don’t know who he picked. We dropped off our ballots at the box by the rec center and lots of people were doing that with their kids, it was good to see.

We have early and mail-in voting here. H and I voted for Warren. He’s as much as on the “don’t vote strategically” train as anyone on this board. And he’s liked Warren from the beginning.

If it is believed that Warren dropping out would be a boost for sanders, and since warren and sanders are ideologically closest aligned, it seems like when she drops out, he’s the most likely candidate for her to support and for her handful of delegates to move to.
What are the thoughts on this board? Does this influence your opinions?
I’ve honestly been surprised at some of the support for warren on this board, since I’m 16, it seemed like one of the big reasons for opposing sanders was his M4A plan and some of his other stances. Obviously reason #1 is that he is a shitty candidate, but I distinctly remember people knocking M4A, but are all in for warren this time.

Personally, the reason I’m against his M4A policy is because I don’t think he has a great implementation plan, can’t get it passed, and can’t even say what’s in it except “everything for everyone” which isn’t how literally any system in the entire world works.
I trust Warren and her detailed outline to actually implement a system of universal coverage AND to figure out how not to tank the economy while doing it.
Not all people who dislike Bernie are conservative, moderates, or anti-socialist.

I never said, nor implied, that they are? I am against Bernie and also none of those things.

I’m voting for warren but my support is tepid. Her M4A debacle is one of the reasons why my support is tepid. I don’t believe in eliminating private health insurance. I don’t believe the country is ready for radical shifts in health care policy. I believe liberals completely forgot (or maybe because they were fetuses at the time?) how HARD it was to get Obamacare and Obamacare is STILL being litigated. I believe anyone selling a rosy picture about how easy this will all be is LYING and thus distrustful. I believe Warren knows this too. I believe Bernie doesn’t. 🤷♀️

I don't know anyone whose biggest reason for being anti- Sanders is that they they oppose M4A, and I've never seen that sentiment expressed on this board. I think a lot of people dislike M4A generally, or dislike Sanders particular proposal for M4A, but that all of those people's dislike of Sanders stems from the fact that he's an incompetent moron who would never be able to win an election.
I think M4A is a pipe dream, but I just don't really care about policy this time around. The only thing I care about is who is best able to deal with the fact that Trump isn't going to leave the White House peacefully. Warren seems to understand better than any of the remaining candidates both (1) how to use executive power, and (2) that the GOP is a toxic force that cannot be reasoned with. So I feel better about her ability to rebuild our democracy and deal with the rise of white supremacist violence that will follow than anyone else left in the race.

I actually don't think all Warren supporters will automatically switch to Bernie. They are the closest aligned ideologically, but there are a lot of other things that go into choosing your candidate. Because, honestly, none of their ideas are going to pass with a Republican senate so it doesn't matter what they think.

None of the Warren fans I know like Bernie. I think in exit data she is not pulling from Bernie’s base. Actually I’m not sure who her base is. The fact that she doesn’t seem to have a clear constituency is a sign her campaign is probably not long for this world. 😢

MA- early voted for Warren. H is voting Tues probably for Warren and our small social bubble seem to be there as well. I was honestly surprised to be reading that Sanders may win the state.

But warren herself seems most likely to back Bernie after she drops. And if you support this candidate and her policies and then she turns around and says Bernie is the best candidate to carry out this agenda and works in support of that, many followers will listen.
I think from this board it's pretty clear that Bernie is not the second choice for Warren voters, considering most of us that love Warren hate Bernie, lol. But obviously we aren't a representative sample!
seems like second choice for most of us is Biden or Mayor Pete.

I think what I’m having a hard time understanding is how the board went from balls-out for HRC to all in on Warren, when the two don’t have a ton in common from a policy/platform perspective. Of the remaining candidates, Biden, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, seem a more natural choice.
I will again state that I’m mostly undecided. I don’t vote for a long time, and in my state it probably doesn’t matter much. So I’m not campaigning or trying to convince anyone of anything. Just trying to understand.

Then again she endorsed no one in the primaries of 2016.

I think because the majority of us REALLY want a female president and are tired of old white dudes.

I mean we have to vote for someone. My favorites are gone. 🤷♀️
I think there are only a few people here who are True Warren stans. Lol.

I mean, this is where I am too. But I don’t see how you go from Gillibrand to Warren, or Harris to Warren, or Castro to Warren. Especially if defeating Bernie is part of the priority.
I know she’s a woman and I want that too, but she finished behind Buttigieg among black voters yesterday. She’s not really pulling delegates from Bernie, nothing substantial anyway. I love what she did to Bloomberg and would love to see that directed at Sanders, but I think the reason it isn’t is because she intends to align with him.

I don’t know and I don’t have a good answer for you.
Everyone I know in Ca seems to be voting for Warren. But it will probably be Bernie here because of all the recent state polls.
@ Mostly I’m voting for her because my 8 year old daughter loves her. And this era she is growing up in is bleakly devoid of political inspiration. If I can instill a tiny but fleeting spark of hope in her, I will. Maybe it will carry her forward and she will run for office someday. Maybe not. It’s all I really have. Ha. It’s not a great answer. But there you go.
The reason why this board likes Warren is why everyone I know also likes Warren. This board is made up of mostly college educated white professional women. I think that’s her big draw. That’s not enough of a base to win the D primary. She hasn’t successfully bridged other groups. We are in a silo. It skews reality.
I vote on Tuesday and still don’t know what I’m going to do. I believe the chatter that Warren will drop the M4A shit if she’s the nominee but I don’t trust her to not eventually endorse Bernie over Biden/Pete if that scenario should occur. I have ideological misgivings about Warren and “out of touch” misgivings about Biden and competence misgivings about Pete. I don’t think any of them is a two term president. Blah. I wish my struggle was deciding between Harris and Castro.

Warren endorsed Hillary in June 2016. I mainly remember this because Bernie Stan's called Warren a backstabbing snake.
