I mean, I don't want mine to die anytime soon becauseI don't want to spend the money to replace, but let's just say that I wouldn't mind having the appliance guys leave it in my backyard so I can hack it up with an axe when the time comes.
Just piling on for anyone interested in them. The sales guy at lowes called them toyotas, cheaper with lots of features.
I felt like I got a yugo, not a toyota.
I had two kitchens full of them. First kitchen wasn't done long enough before we sold for them to fail. Second kitchen, the area under the crisper in the fridge would ice, the key pad on the microwave had to be replaced, and the dishwasher panel had to be replaced. Samsung would send the wrong parts to fix things, and finally to get them fixed I had to start talking loud and continually about how terrible the appliances were and how awful the service had been in the middle of the appliance section.
Our last one iced over so badly that you had to remove everything from the fridge and shut it off completely to melt for 24 hours. This happened every 2 months or so. Thank God we moved out of that house shortly after this problem started.
There's a Samsung in our new house and it has the same issue with the area under the drawers turning to ice. Thankfully, no other problems besides that so far. If and when the motor starts freezing up like the last one, I will replace it immediately. Such a fucking waste of materials.
Mine came with my house, it’s about 10 years old now and still working so I’m happy about that. The ice still works, but the water through the door broke years ago, which is a huge bummer.
Our house came with a Samsung and it’s been fine. It used to be in the kitchen, but now it’s in the basement because that fridge died. We’ve lived here 6 years and I bet they bought it quite a few years before. It really has no extra features so that’s probably why it’s been fine. It does only make crushed ice which is weird but it’s not hooked up to a water line anymore so it doesn’t make any ice anymore.
ETA: it doesn’t even have in door water or ice. It’s a super basic fridge.
I'm pretty much convinced all appliances just generally suck lately and if you get a good, reliable one, it's just luck.
We got lucky with our Samsung fridge--about 9 years with zero issues before we sold that house. But I loathed our Samsung dishwasher and got a Bosch the right after the extended warranty on the Samsung ended.
We bought a Samsung fridge just in November and a repair guy was already out in January because of a "known issue" where it was making a loud grinding noise. I really wish I would have read all the horror stories before we bought.

This is pretty much accurate. We've got a 4 year old LG dishwasher that needed a control board replaced because the old one had moisture behind it because of a manufacturing defect. A 3 year old Whirlpool fridge that struggles at keeping stuff cold enough A 4 year old Kenmore glasstop stove that is the actual worst.
So far I'm happy with our GE oven 3 years in. The washer and dryer are also GE but too new to tell.
Thankfully I've been around here long enough to never consider a samsung appliance!
I think appliances just suck nowadays and are poorly made, too. My parents still have the same fridge that I had growing up (I'm 35) and it's still perfect. It's a Kelvinator, lol. And my Whirlpool washing machine is definitely 20+ years old and works well still.
I had a Samsung fridge and had to fix that icemaker problem right before I was trying to sell the house. I had the worst time even finding someone that would come and fix it. I must have called about 10 places before I found someone willing to even look at it.
The compressor on our five year old LG fridge died a few weeks ago. A couple months ago, we finally gave up repairing our six year old Whirlpool washer after the bearings went bad again. It seems impossible to find reliable appliances.
This is the reason we have not replaced our 20+ year appliances. They still work flawlessly. I’m gonna hate to deal with this in the future, because they WILL FAIL.
Ours is almost 10 years old and with the exception of the plastic piece that controls the water dispenser inside the fridge breaking (a $5 dollar fix I fixed myself) we have had zero issues.
I’m waiting for it to happen, but thankfully it has yet to.
My Samsung washer & dryer didn't even make it a year before I had issues. After countless service calls, I finally bought a new maytag set and I LOVE them. Never samsung again.

My Samsung fridge also has the icing problem. It’s worse in the summer. We’ve had to take everything out and defrost it, multiple times. Ugggghhh. I wish I’d known before we bought it.

Can you tell me more about this? My water dispenser broke too and I’m wondering if it’s the same issue.

Our water dispenser is inside the fridge, there is a blue soft rubbery plastic oval that you press for the water. Behind it was a hard piece of plastic. The hard piece cracked and the water was spewing out. This was the piece that cracked
