How much longer do you think it'll be before the order comes that all non-essential business shut down? That's the only thing that is going to get the owner of the company I work for to open his eyes to what's going on.
Also, Trump is calling this the "Chinese Virus" and it's been causing me so much anxiety and rage. I cannot believe this is real life.
I'm so angry at so many things ::deep breath::
OMB basically issued an edict to this effect last night to the federal government
wildrice , totally agree! I think high earners are sometimes the first to go over newer, lower paid employees.
This is what happened to my husband. He had the most experience of anyone in his department and was paid well, and he was one of the three that let go out of their department of ~15.

I'm worried about the e-learning our district rolled out. I think it's great they are doing something and it seems like it will work well for my 8th grader. It's my ADHD 3rd grader I'm worried about. I work full time WAH so it's business as usual for me, but IDK how I'm supposed to work and help my 3rd grader with school from 9-1. They had a testing day today from 11-1, and I had to help him a few times. IDK, I wish they had gone with the packets like they did for the K-2 kids.
This is concerning to me as I’m about to leave the house to donate platelets. That’s usually less crowded tho because it takes longer. I’m planning on asking when I get there if they’d rather have blood.
It was a bus location and not brick and mortar so maybe other places won’t be as bad. I had to leave because I had been there for an hour and 15 minutes and they couldn’t even tell me when they could see me. They just look like deer in headlights as though this was completely unplanned even though it was advertised on Facebook for several days.
This was an in-hospital department so much more streamlined. I could only give blood tho not platelets bc it was my first time there. Lots of traffic so that made me feel “better.”

I really hope no one at my employer is let go, they're still recovering from some stuff last year. I'm on higher alert because I had to sign a contract (frustratingly after I accepted the job and gave notice) saying I have a job until 6/30, then it depends on funding...this was in Sept so way before this. I assume they would continue to fill my job since there's only 3 in my role, one we're trying to fill during the shutdown, but you never know if they have in writing that I only have a job until a certain date. I've been laid off once, and outsourced another time, so I feel like my career is so much further behind because of having to take a job, not the right job. Nothing I can do now, but it's on my mind.
Took Stella on a 5 mile walk today. She laid down in 2 mud puddles and my legs are beat.
I'm trying to get some motivation to do some schoolwork, but it's not working. I am technically on spring break right now so I should just relax, but now that school will be going all on-line the boundaries feel blurred and it will be harder to unplug completely.
H is coming home this afternoon and then will be working from home for awhile. I'm steeling myself, lol.
Also, my gym hasn't closed and I don't know if technically we don't fall into the Dallas rules, but I'm very wtf at them. They have a ton of student athletes who work out there who could easily be asymptomatic and posted a video on IG with a 93 yo member walking on the treadmill and about how he isn't scared of coronavirus :::eyeroll:::

I’m so mad at my gym for staying open. They only have virtual classes (class IN the gym but you watch the TV for directions vs the trainer) now and ask people to wipe down their equipment. That makes me feel safe. Sure. I’m probably gonna cancel with them bc right now our finances are fucked..
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham

You have a bag of food- chips, crackers etc.
Once the quantity contained therein is reduced, the empty top of the bag flops around and you have to shove your hand into the abyss to retrieve the food.
The only course of action then is chopping off the top of the bag.
My hair salon cancelled my appt in April because they are closed for the next two weeks and she needs to get those people in. This seems weird to me. Why wouldn’t you just find new times for the people who missed appts? She wanted to change my 7 appt to 2...

I don’t want to wish Coronavirus in anyone...but I’m seeing at least three people on Facebook doing really dumb sh#% and it would be awesome if they could get it and not like super nice elderly people.
Update: I went to the store at lunch. People need to stop posting pictures of empty shelves and ridiculous checkout lines (I’m looking at you, local Shipt group). The bread aisle was bare but they had tons of tortillas. The toilet paper aisle had 6 packages (I heard they were only putting a few out at a time to prevent hoarding situations). Chicken breasts and ground beef were sold out but they had a bunch of other random cuts. Everything else was fine. Sure I may not get the exact item that I want, but there were plenty of viable substitutes. I was panicking for no reason.

This is the exact attitude I have towards the owner of my company. I would laugh and laugh if he tests positive.
Also, I wish Loft would update on what's going on with returns. I'm not paying $7.95 for returns, so hopefully they'll just extend to when you can get to a store. I ordered a bunch of pants for work, but won't keep them all.

My dad has been feeling warm and today he was short of breath. He lives alone in NJ and I'm in Houston area so I cannot go help him at all. I told him to call his doctor - he said he would. He's 73 with weakened breathing (asthma and stuff). He found an old mercury thermometer in the house but it doesn't seem to be working properly. I tried to get him a new one online but they are either sold out or not shipping for another week. If you guys could send "doesn't-have-COVID19" thoughts his way I'd appreciate it.
I'm working full time from home so am busy during the days and talking to co-workers either via phone or skype.
Otherwise it's just me. There is tons I could do around the house, but after a full workday I'm tired and lots of what I need to do involves getting to the dump, getting donations to other places, cleaning, getting bins and stuff for organization - so lots of things to do, but also lots of things to do that also involve stuff out in public. I also think I need to get out of my own head and out of my own way.

Someone I know fled from a mid-Atlantic state to a coastal spring break town and is live streaming every day about how mother earth needs to breathe, since the lock down dolphins are now visible off the coast of Italy, pollution in China is clearing up, that we should all get the hint and be nicer to the earth etc etc etc except I'm very WTAF about it because if everyone did what she did- get on a plane on March 14th and fly to Florida- we'd all be in a bigger damn mess. The tone deafness and ignorance is shocking.

A friend of mine was saying this about someone and I said, I hope they don’t because those are the people who spread it to others...and his response was “I hope they get diarrhea for a month then and can’t leave the house.” Ha
Governor of Washington state is adding new steps to limit impact.... there isn't many steps left. I imagine shelter in place is coming for Washington State.

My H just got back from picking up a prescription for one of the pups and getting dog food from the pet food store across the street.
I think the veterinary clinic building is a former bank building...they have a drive up window where you can pick up prescriptions, and they are asking that everyone use it for the foreseeable future.
The pet food store worker said that the county is considering allowing only one pet supply store open for the whole county. What shortsighted solution....can you imagine how many people might show up at any given time? Not to mention that petsmart/Petco are who they are considering, and they don't carry what our dogs eat. The small pet food store we use does a good business, but with employees and customers there are rarely more than a few people at a time, and it should be easy to keep a safe distance inside and keep people out at a distance if needed.
