DH brought up the series "Counterpart" from a few years ago. There are divergent realities. The alternate reality suffered a bad pandemic which changed it forever. Apparently we are living in the alternate reality, after all
The Girl in Red by Christina Henry. It is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood set after most of the population is wiped out by something referred to as the Cough.
It was really good but there's no way I would read it now.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
The first half is very much about the normalcy of so much of life even during a (much deadlier) pandemic.
Yes! I forgot about that one. Didn't it start in China too and they were going to factories there and the people were trying to hide the outbreak? Then she keeps going to the office and pretending everything is normal as people drop one by one?

The author is Ling Ma... not trying to snark. I only know because I just looked it up to add to my library hold list. I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the rec!
Really good book, I've read it twice. When I first read it, it was a single self published eBook. It looks like it's since been picked up by a publisher and turned into a series. Free on Kindle Unlimited.
Don't recommend reading it right now though if current events have made you a doom and gloom type lol.. because this book is definitely a worst case scenario look at a world flu pandemic.
ETA It looks like I read this book originally back in 2011. Not only that, it's loanable to anyone that has a Kindle/the Kindle app. Tag me if you'd like to read it and I'll send it to you.

Was this the show with Lucius Malfoy as the main character? I really liked it, then it got cancelled/

J.K. Simmons plays the main character. Olivia Williams is his wife.

The Rationing by Charles Wheelan (it’s political satire about an inept government, although I’d take his fictional inept government over what we actually have...)
The insidious wait for doom is really applicable now.
[br Love this book. I re-read it about a year ago. My local library had to go up into storage to get it. I’m in a tiny town and the library is kn an old stone building with not much room.

I know the show you’re talking about! Not the name, unfortunately, I’d have to imdb it. But his two worlds were one where his son had survived an accident and his wife died, and one where his wife had survived, but the son died. And it switched every time he slept maybe?
