She tested positive for C19 about a week ago. Ended up being admitted to the hospital a couple days ago, CT scan showed pneumonia and they started whatever treatment /supportive care you do for that.
Yesterday she was transferred to ICU for low O2 levels (she was at 90 I believe) and she is now intubated and on a vent and they've started her on chloroquinine.
She was the first friend I made when I moved here from across the country almost 20 years ago. She just turned 40 in January and has no underlying health conditions. Her fiance is one of my husband's oldest friends.
Fuck this virus with a rusty chainsaw and fuck everyone who says its NBD.

I'm so sorry. A friend of mine and her husband are presumptive positive, but so far only have minor symptoms. The husband had a swab but won't get results for at least a week

I'm so sorry. I hope she has a fast and full recovery.
These case scare me. My husband and I actually got into it the other day because he still feels, and keeps arguing, that anyone under approx 50 does not get it that severe unless they have some type of underlying health issue. Maybe he just needs to keep thinking that to stay sane, IDK. But there seem to be many younger people in the US that are in denial that they could be at serious risk, just IMO.

I think the press has been misleading in this. They don’t say that mild means you are miserable in your house for 2 weeks. They don’t say mild means you still get hospitalized. So people think mild means a cold.

My husband knows someone (that he went to church with when he was growing up) who is currently hospitalized and was on oxygen, may have been intubated by now. This guy is 51, and apparently super fit and healthy, a hiking nut. His wife said he is not improving.
Um, I've heard of several cases of people under 40 having to be intubated. Your DH may just be trying to stay sane, but he absolutely should not be in denial about this.
