What the hell is the federal government doing with all the PPE they are seizing?
Interesting tie-in with how the Union choked supply chains of the Confederacy. It’s like Trump wants to break this country apart or something. So he can be president-for-life of Trumplandia?
I get annoyed that the previous day's daily thread still gets comments the next day, even if a new one has been started. And they have been hover around 1-2 pages/day compared to the previous 6 pages/day.
But if I am in the minority I will change the title.
Guidance from the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security outlines a potential path from strict physical distancing measures to phased reopenings of organizations and settings central to U.S. communities.

I hate 6 page threads of news, because even if it's just news people start reposting the same news articles without reading the thread.

I agree with pixy. Past experience has shown that when threads get longer than a couple of pages we start getting a lot of posts that go, "Haven't read the thread yet but..." and then they post something that was already posted and discussed two pages ago.
In addition to missing/not reading news already posted upthread, the app (at least for me) skips some posts and doubles other posts. So stuff can get lost in the shuffle.
I use the website version rather than the app if I’m reading a news thread, because of this. And to see if I have any notifications. I use the app for the chat threads.
This is a question, somewhat news related- Trump keeps saying in his pressers that he inherited a big mess from Obama, then goes on to say they didn't have the ventilators and tests were faulty, etc. First of all- wtf is he talking about? Second- isn't this easily disproved? Obama had a pandemic response team that Trump largely unfunded and disbanded- that's not up for debate. It's just a fact. How can he blame Obama for tests being faulty? This virus wasn't even a thing until a few months ago. I mean, I get that he lies all the time, but why aren't reporters pointedly fact checking him with their questions? Or maybe they are and I just haven't seen it.
I saw this story in another news source, with a pic of the lady in the silver Ram wearing the USA jersey (lofuckingl), screaming that she’s an essential worker just like the healthcare staffer who was blocking her and therefore she should also be allowed to go to work. No explanation of what exactly her job is. I’d love to know.
ETA: God damn it, this level of stupidity and selfishness is frightening.

I think if they do he shuts them down with, "That's a nasty question and you're a horrible reporter" and moves on.

Exactly. And his supporters believe this shit. Contract ran out in 2018 to have ventilators maintained? Obama’s fault! No seat on the WHO since 2018? Thanks Obama. Even though this shit happened well after Obama left office, Trump shuts reporters down who try to bring it up. And you can be sure they aren’t mentioning this on Fox Entertainment.
I’ve seen numerous reporters fact-check (in real time during press conferences) on Twitter, but for Trump supporters - and even those who aren’t necessarily supporters but don’t loathe him - it doesn’t matter. Once he plants the seed, it’s there. Fox News does the same - they throw out some absurd accusation or conspiracy theory, and sometimes they offer a half-assed walkback later on, but the damage is already done. Once these morons get an idea in their head, they don’t let go.

Also, while many believe the lies, I also think that many of them just don't think about politics in terms of what is true and what is false. I think many of them know on some level that he lies nonstop, but they feel that he deserves to be able to lie freely because the left and the media lie even more. And I think they love it when he lies because it makes the left and the media lose their minds.

I know this is all true, and I definitely have seen him do the "that was a nasty question" shut down. I guess I'm just having "OMG WTF is wrong with everyone??" thoughts today. I'm just so mad.
^^^ this is not news. LOL. I'm sorry it's in here. My bad.
Does anyone know how the supposed benefits they are offering employees reconciles with the fact that many of the employees are undocumented? Do they hire contractors or have people off their books, or what? I have a hard time believing that considering the way employees are generally treated, they are really offering all employees these great benefits.
I don't have a source I can quote but a friend of mine works at a different meat packer in southern MN and she said MN plants are generally either immigrant employees (not all undocumented) or formerly incarcerated employees. She wasn't sure how the undocumented employees worked since she is a USDA employee.
In a recent video posted to YouTube, John Daly comes across as either drunk or just ignorant to the facts of the coronavirus pandemic. Or maybe he’s making a lame attempt at humor. It’s hard to tell.
Daly claims he has a cure for COVID-19 that will help us “get over this thing pretty soon and we’ll get back out playing a lot more golf” in a 50-second video shared by The Trump Organization on April 9.
“I only drink one drink a day, it just happens to be a bottle of good old Belvedere,” Daly said while holding the clear bottle of vodka up toward the camera. “Just drink one of these a day. You know, sippy, sippy on a McDonald’s diet Coke ya know, wash it down pretty good. Never have a hangover.
“And that’s the way you kill this coronavirus I believe. But ya’ll be safe, take care and hopefully we’ll be getting back to the things we do best pretty soon.”
Actually, the World Health Organization says alcohol may put people at increased risk of contracting the coronavirus.
The 53-year-old is a two-time major champion who competes on the PGA Tour Champions. He has struggled with health issues and alcohol addiction throughout his career.
