We are planning to go over to our land to hike around on Saturday. We're going to stop at my parents' house on the way to say hi and check on them. DD's favorite restaurant is back open for take-out, so we're going to order dinner from them (after we get home). Sunday I think I'm going to text a few baseball families to see if they want to meet at the baseball fields like we did last Saturday. (And if people can play golf now, then kids can certainly play baseball because the players are naturally social-distanced.) I'm hoping all of that time outside and hopefully seeing other people in person will fill my mental health bank to get me through next week.
The girls were begging for sushi take out last week but our local favorite place has been closed. They just re-opened for takeout starting this weekend, so I think I'll surprise the kids with sushi for dinner one night and we can eat it in our living room tent while we watch a movie. We basically spend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings watching a movie in the tent I put up in the living room and then the kids sleep in it. It's become a way to make the weekends a little different than the "school nights." Thank goodness for Disney+.
A little thing that I'm doing for my own mental health is giving myself a mani/pedi. I ordered some nice nail polish and plan to treat myself to a relaxing night doing that. The only nail polish I have right now is crappy kid stuff and I'm used to getting a dip manicure monthly. It was my little self care thing that I started doing and I miss it.
The weather is supposed to be blah tomorrow and DH is working. Tonight, I am dropping some food off for a food pantry. I am spectacularly bad at ordering groceries online so I have way more tuna, chicken noodle soup, mac and cheese, and chili beans than anyone should.
Tomorrow with the rain, I think the kids and I will comfort ourselves with Chic Fil A for lunch. I am hoping the weather clears for Sunday to mow grass and yard work. If I had any idea how to run a tiler, I would break ground for my garden. Since I don't have much better to do, maybe I will teach myself.

We are supposed to have a blah weather day tomorrow. Not really looking forward to being stuck inside with the kids while DH is at work. I'll probably start painting our trim and built ins again. I took a break the last couple weeks and I'm ready to get back at it. That is literally all I have planned.
I need to pluck my eyebrows and wax my upper lip. Today was a scheduled hair appointment that obviously didn't happen, so my brows are starting to look bad. I don't let her wax my lip though as that is too painful to let someone else do to me lol.
My BFF has recently separated from her H and I have some household items to give her along with a sump pump we borrowed during the basement flood. I may do that and see if she wants to walk if her kid isn't home on Sunday.

It’s been storming and raining since before 6. The thunder woke everyone up. The dog won’t go out in the rain so she peed on the couch, realized she shouldn’t be doing that and jumped down to run around still peeing. It was pathetic. I couldn’t even be mad. Kids got into a fight, went outside to play in the rain during one of the sprinkle times, got into another fight and came back in tracking wet dog poop. It’s been a day.
I am making a very complicated meal H requested while drinking wine as the kids watch old Disney movies. Done with today.
Anyway, nothing on schedule for the weekend. Takeout lunch Sunday afternoon. Hoping it doesn’t rain all weekend so we can get outside more, maybe have a margarita in the hammock. Clean house and such, of course, do a few hours of work I didn’t finish this week.
We’re having a little heat wave so the big kids and I went in our pool this afternoon during the toddler’s nap for the first time this season. Then I did more work from the patio while they stayed in.
You would think it’s pool season a lot in San Diego but with May gray and June gloom, our pool season often doesn’t really start till after July 4th. The water is freezing but the kids don’t really care, and I floated above it on an inner tube. I realized that my little home office closet is well placed because I can watch them in the pool while I work. We considered filling in our pool when we bought the house because the neighborhood has two pools within a couple blocks - but I’m glad we didn’t since all the neighborhood pools are closed.
Otherwise no big plans for the weekend. We’ll probably do more pool with the toddler (who we need to teach to swim) since it’s supposed to stay hot, and my parents will come for dinner Sunday evening. I may paint the area on the stairs under the bannister (which I painted last weekend).
covergirl82- so they either aren’t running or playing bases? Because you can’t do that 6 ft apart.
We are putting the finishing touches on DS’s party. And on Saturday we are doing a birthday parade where we all drive by a classmate of DD’s house and honk and wave. That sounds... not fun. But we will do it.
Tonight DS and DD are “camping” in the living room. We will watch a movie, then they’ll go sleep in their forts. Tomorrow we will drive thru Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks for breakfast. Then we are getting takeout for dinner. I’m hoping to be outside for a while.
I’m currently hiding in my room while DH is on a zoom call with his brothers and mom. I just can’t do it today. I got a good amount of work done on my project today so I’m feeling accomplished. But we are in the final stages of having our floors done in the kitchen, so we can’t go in that end of the house.
The weather was awful today, we don’t have access to the sink or fridge or stove. In order to get to the basement fridge and freezer, I had to go out in the cold, driving rain and back in through the garage. The sander was loud and the poly coat stinks, so I’m feeling like a caged animal, confined to my room.
Tomorrow should be nice, so everyone will be forced outside. Sunday’s weather will stink again, but we will be able to walk on the floors at least, so that shall be laundry day.
A little anecdote... I took the kids to see my dad yesterday to get away from the noise in the house and lift his spirits. On the way home, I gave DD2 a little art kit that she never opened at Christmas. It was full of stickers, a coloring book, and stamps. Lots of stamps. She asked if she could stamp her face. I started to say no, but then I thought...why not? Where do we have to go? And my two kids covered themselves in stamps and belly laughed for a full 30 minutes. It was awesome. 😊
And that crap does NOT come off. They are still covered.
DS's summer camps have been cancelled. That has hit me hard. Will probably move on to wine drinking early.
What region are you in?
I’m in New England and we got a notice that one of DD2’s camps is dropping the first 2 weeks at a minimum. We were only signed up for week 2, so they’re sending us a refund.
Other camps haven’t committed yet but I’m waiting...
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We have an actual busy weekend! (Or what passes for one these days.) I’m excited! Sneaking off to the garden center this morning to pick up my vegetable plants. Then we’ll cheer for one of DD’s friends who is running a 5K through the neighborhood in place of his cancelled 5K. We have their whole route and we’ll be on the opposite side of the street.
After that I’ll get the veggies planted in our vegetable bed. Maybe take DD’s bike to a parking lot and practice. She’s supremely uninterested in learning to ride without training wheels but I think she should know how.
Tomorrow I’ve signed her up for a class on Outschool to talk about Minecraft with other kids. Then we’re taking a field trip to my office to collect my desk chair before I murder my spine with 6 more weeks of working in a dining room chair. Then a drive-by birthday for a classmate.
Well great. I wake up to a txt from Dh that his battery is dead and he took my car. I promised Chick Fil A today, so now I have to borrow Dss truck to get a battery and food. A 4x4, stick shift, loud enough to wake the dead. Kept by a kid who had a half box of cheerios under his bed when I moved it. Should be awesome.
Btw, I had a nice night last night. I dropped some things off in our town. I ended up taking a walk and talked to about 20 people in their yards or out and about. I was gone for over 2 hours. It was nice to talk to people. I'll have to do that more often.

I can't believe this has happened but now that were down to only 2 cats, one of the two has gone missing. He's an indoor cat, long hair, big big boy who will go outside with our other cat but just stays by the door and will immediately go back in. I can't even imagine what happened to him. He's so big and lumbering I can't imagine him jumping a fence and he's such a scaredy cat I can't imagine him walking down our driveway either.
So suddenly we just have one animals and its soo weird.
We just got back from the lake with Beau and his son. Oh man, we needed that! The kids were SO happy to just run around together. We all wore masks and maintained decent distance. I was not as strict as I thought I would be on the distance front since I know we are all exposed to each other already because of beau and I. We will definitely be doing it again in nice weather when we can be outside.
It was a good pick me up for the kids too. DD1 had a total meltdown this morning when it really hit her that their birthday is during quarantine and that summer camp probably won't happen. Broke my heart.
(I had asked exH about it and he gave the ok, in writing, so we went for it.)
We went to ride our bikes near a pretty area this morning, and on the way there noticed that the local strawberry fields are open! So we stopped and picked strawberries and then made awesome strawberry shortcake. And swam. It felt like a normal Saturday!

mommyatty, there will probably be only 4-5 boys playing, and 2-3 would play the field while 1 pitches and 1 bats, so it wouldn't be like a real game or practice where they're trying to get someone out (or have a catcher behind the batter).
Its rainy and crappy. Today DH spent the whole putting together a puzzle. DD finished the 5th Harry Potter book so we watched the movie tonight. More crappy weather tomorrow so probably a movie day and I want to give the dog a bath.
Friday was a bad day. Dd melted down over school work and said done mean things in her temper tantrum that really hurt my feelings and I'm having a hard time letting them go. I know she didn't mean them and she is frustrated with everything but words still hurt. I know we need a break from each other too.
So Dd saw a spider in her room. For some reason, Dh sends in Ds. Ds swings at the spider and misses, breaking the fly swatter and spider escapes. Dd is hysterical about the spider and says she can't sleep in there. I wake up this morning, and she is sleeping on the floor outside her room with all her pillows and blankets and a barracaid of random things against the door. Because the floor is safer from spiders? I just stepped over and proceeded to my coffee.
