Things are going pretty great with baby. He’s been working all day to get my milk to come in so I’m hopeful maybe he will be a little worn out and won’t cluster feed all night? He’s sweet and cuddly. DH is doing well taking care of the other kids. He did spend all afternoon building a fort with them rather than getting our super disorganized house in order, but oh well. Older kids are completely taken with their brother which is so fun.
I had a call with a friend of mine who is a physical therapist today, and she thinks what I thought was sciatica is actually a herniated disk that was more displaced during labor. It is excruciating. It’s not as terrible while I’m moving a bit during the day, but gets worse if I sit or lie still for awhile. Last night I crawled to the bathroom and cried as I hoisted myself onto the toilet.
I’ve had four unmedicated births and only needed Tylenol after bunion surgery, so I never understood why anyone needed to take stronger stuff for pain, but now I do. My friend gave me some tips on what to do and everyone is still hopeful that it will improve as my fluids/hormones/weight go down. I’m going to wait another couple days before talking to doctors about further steps. Other than my physical therapist friend, my sister’s BIL is a doctor who owns a pain management practice, So I’m sure I’ll be able to get some good advice. This time would just be so much easier without this!
