We’ve talked a bit about them, but let’s talk about what you are buying.
I put on my birks today and took an hour walk. The beds of my feet are KILLING me. Not sure what the deal is. Not sure if I’ll buy another pair or not, but I need a good walking sandal.

I only have one pair of birks and don’t like them at all. I don’t get the love. I like mephisto sandals way more. It’s all so person specific imo. I want something that a back for this summer. I think those are best for walking.

Do you normally wear Birks? If this is the first time or maybe first time this season, you need to break them in. They are not shoes you can wear out of the box for 12 hours. They need broken in AND your feet have to build up callouses to the new spots of friction (different spots than regular shoes, like toe ridge area).
Birkenstocks are seriously the worst and least comfortable shoes ever. I do not get their rave reviews on comfort and I suffered through 6 months of "breaking them in" before throwing out! Vionics all the way every day! Especially if you deal with plantar fascitis in any way.
Man, I would have recommended Birks as I walked all over Spain wearing them with no issue. They're the only sandals that don't kill my feet. What a bummer.
Not helpful, I know. I'm just sorry they're causing you pain!

I wore these all over Scotland and Disney. They just must be worn out.
I got a pair of Born Taylor sandals a couple months ago and they're really comfortable, only $40, and reasonably cute. I do get slightly annoyed at having to buckle them rather than being able to slip them on, but otherwise no complaints.
Vionics for the win. I have flip flops, sandals, flats, wedges, boots and heels.
I wear the Vionic sandals or flip flops, or Oofos flip flops if I am going to be walking a lot...like at Disney for the day.
I may pull the trigger on these this year. Everyone who has them loves them.
Another vote for Vionic’s. They are the best shoes ever. You can sometimes find good deals at Nordstrom rack and on Amazon. Watch for sales on their website too. I have sandals, flip flops, slides, sneakers, and ballet flats. I LOVE them. Totally worth the investment and don’t really need a break in period.
I have 2 pairs of these. 1 black, 1 brown and I kind of want a metallic pair too!
I’ve been lusting after these for years and it may finally be time! I’m a 9.5 and they only come in whole sizes, right? Should I go for the 10? I figure my feet swell in the heat.
I like dansko sandals. I’ve bought multiple of the one called Stevie (I think). Also like the sacha. Used one pair all over Europe last year, I packed just them and my hiking boots.

I remember taking a break in period gor the first pair that I bought....apparently I was not used to my feet and legs being aligned properly. lol
Once I got used to them though, no break in no time has been necessary. Since I spend a lot of time barefoot in my house, I can tell when I should be wearing them more. Sometimes my knee will bother me and it seems so odd because I haven't really had knee problems since I started wearing Vionic. They seem to help with my lower back too since it helps keep everything aligned.
I just ordered a pair of naturalizer tru sandals, hope they are good. I wanted the ginger snap color but found black for $33 so if they fit nicely I’ll also fork out the higher price for the other color.
I have a hard time finding sandals, I like thinner straps/less bulk but also need a strap on the back and I hate the feeling of a thong between my toes, and I don’t like them to be completely without arch support. Picky picky 😄
