I spent hours this weekend crafting a training for a team. Get to the meeting and it's not on the agenda. Guess who didn't give the training today? They suck.
I have to go into my school building on Thursday to close out the library. That is going to be weird.
I just spent half an hour refreshing the ikea site to try to get a pickup order. When I finally processed, it told me they’ve reached their max capacity for the day and to try again tomorrow. DH is all ready to have our 4 computers (2 personal, 2 work) set up and ready to go tomorrow to see if we have any luck that way. It’s like trying to buy concert tickets. Lol
Here at least, they add new times every night at 10 PM so at 10pm or shortly after is when it’s easiest to get spots.
Omg thank you! I was on with customer service yesterday (about potentially canceling an order if I can get this to work) and she told me to try at 11am because that’s when they open. I never would have thought to try at night. I’ll give it a shot this evening.
We have eleventy billion parents wanting their auction items from 5 different homes they have been sitting at for the last 2 months. Most people are being calm and understanding about picking them up but a few people are being a pain in the ass. Trust me people, we don’t want your shit in our houses anymore either.
Everyone we know seems to be staying in still which is a relief. Much like around election time, I’m relieved that we don’t have bunch of morons as friends or family.
My husband’s work is urging people to take mental health days and vacation days so the next two weeks will both have long weekends. The end of the month is his birthday so I think we might try to source some curbside pickup steamed crabs or maybe place an raw meat delivery from Fogo de Chao. They keep sending me emails about it and the prices look really reasonable.
The guy doing my fence seems to be short staffed so it’s just him and one other guy. I actually haven’t seen the other guy today so I’m wondering if it’s just him. They started on Friday. He tore his rotator cuff that afternoon (he said this is like the 4th time it’s happened on that shoulder!). He’s working, but in a sling, so obviously not very effective or efficient. Anyway, what was supposed to be a 2ish day job is now on day 3 and so far the only portion he’s put planks on is the shortest side. There’s no way he’s finishing this today and I’m starting to get kind of frustrated. I can’t send the kids out in the backyard to play because I can’t trust them not to leave the yard.
He’s been pretty meticulous about making everything level and even though, so that’s good at least.
2nd attempt at coloring my own hair, and still no grays were covered
I have been using the Clairol Root Touch-Up for the last couple months and it has worked very well on my grays and I have stubborn grays. I have just used it on my part line and a bit on the hairline around my face.

So I don't have a swimsuit that fits me. The only one I have I bought 4+ years ago and I have gained weight since then. I am plus size and finding a swim suit that fits is so fucking difficult normally. I think trying to order online would be a nightmare and a bunch of failed attempts plus returns. We have an inflatable pool we put out in the summer and I'd love to have a swimsuit that fits me.
It's just kind of made me think of when I would feel safe doing something again like going into a clothing store to try on clothes. Our retail stores are likely opening at the end of May. It isn't a necessary purchase. I would like to think that sometime this summer, it would be ok to wear a mask and walk into Lane Bryant, which is a standalone store, to try something on. But I don't know.
(I know this is not an important thing, buying a swimsuit, it's more just me musing about when we will return to doing activities over the coming months).

What are you using? I've been using eSalon and I love it.
I use to use eSalon and would have been happy with it if they could have gotten the color right.
I use Pravana now, and love it. I am playing around with color/color mixing, hoping that eventually I will get that right. I am really happy with the gray coverage, and there is very little, if any, fading.

It did take me a couple tries to get the right color, but I love it now. So easy, and relatively inexpensive... I think.
I hate late people. I get we’re not going anywhere right now, but someone told me they wanted to buy an item I posted on FB marketplace and she was supposed to be here at 2:30...it’s nearly 4. I need to get some cleaning done and I told someone else that a sale was pending. I wanted it out of my garage today.

I have used that in the past with some success. I have recently gone blond and have had a hard time matching my new color

Today all lands end swimwear is 60% off. Not that it helps with the order/return thing, but I have had great luck with their suits before.

ssmjlm I was in my house one afternoon when one of the kids told me there were a bunch of police cars at the corner house. Ok, we have some interesting neighbors so police cars are not totally out of the norm. But this was more than a couple and the people/police in the house were in full hazmat suits. Hazmat was there the better part of the afternoon/evening then cleared out. I never did find out what happened.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try this tonight to see if I can get a spot. Darn there being only one Ikea in Colorado!

I’ve actually been happiest with my plus-size suits from Target, even though I generally hate all of their clothes.

Check their return policy right now, though. I'm still pissed at Lands End for the time I paid $15 to try on a coat - it was just under the limit for free shipping to buy, and then I had to pay to ship it back too. I know they aren't the only company to do that, but I basically never order from places that don't have free returns or a store nearby to return to so this one caught me off guard. They refused to give me a 1 time exception, either, so I just never bought anything else from them.

They were supposed to open one in Broomfield but it never happened.

I get the struggle, FYI my state is open for retail but they all have their fitting rooms closed. Even target has theirs closed

I think we live in the same area. I have been grocery shopping in person, so I would have no hesitation grocery shopping at Target and buying a couple swimsuits. I’d probably eyeball them and buy the two I thought would work best and try on at home. Just seeing them up close would help me narrow them down more than shopping online. I have been to Target once since the shutdown, and I went at a weird time and practically had the store to myself.
I have to go back to work in my office on Wednesday. Not excited about getting up before 7 am! I’m ok with it, though. I’m slightly annoyed that someone commented that they weren’t sure if I was ever going to come back to the office. Guess what? You said we could work remotely and that’s what I’ve been doing- for 40+ hours each week and I have the receipts. I shouldn’t let it bug me, but this was on the heels of a different annoying thing that had just happened during a Zoom meeting. At least I’ll be in my office with the door closed, as my chair is less than 6 feet from my office door. No one can barge in and bug me!!
She has references for all of the data she cites and I found it very informative.
I really dislike that she looks only at the risk/benefit to *your particular family.* It is so narcissistic. She didn't even bother to include what risk/benefit her decision poses to her own nanny - a person you'd think she gave a damn about (I don't think it would have changed her answer since she's probably the type who wouldn't have paid her nanny unless she was working, but it's telling about her self centered myopia).
If you follow her reasoning, the kids of a lawyer and a banking VP who get to shelter at home have a better argument for spending everyday with their 6 best lacrosse friends than the toddlers of a grocery store clerk for spending a single afternoon with grandma when their single mom has something she needs to do that would be best without them, but could technically bring them to. Every decision has ripple effects. If everyone takes little risks just for fun, it collectively raises everyone's risk level and makes it harder for others with greater needs (even if they have greater risk) to do what they have to.
Any risk/benefit analysis that doesn't include the external greater cost/benefit equation is bullshit. They are usually used to justify things that just aren't that important because the actor feels they are personally at low risk. By her reasoning, no one should bother with a mask - they are mildly annoying for me and I don't even get the benefit. Fuck it.

What are you even talking about? She doesn't mention a nanny in the article. Is that somewhere in the comments or another post she's written? In this one she's just talking about viral load and the chances of having enough exposure in different settings. And she literally tells people to wear masks at the end.
