My husband is so hard to shop for. I bought a French press, coffee bean grinder and packets of fancy coffee beans. I hope he appreciates it, but I’m afraid he won’t bother using it.
He’s so hard to shop for, and his birthday is right afterwards.
Beau and his son are like two peas in a pod. His son is like his little mini me and they love playing video games together. So I found them t-shirts on Etsy that have video game controllers and say "Player 1" and "Player 2" on them. I'm hoping he likes them. The style is nice, it looks more like a shirt you'd get at a store and less like a cheesy DIY shirt than some others I've seen.
It's tough to come up with a Father's Day gift for someone who isn't the father of my kids... But I wanted to make sure I got him something since he got me a really thoughtful Mother's Day gift and I know being a dad is his #1 thing in life.
campermom, Beau's birthday is right before Father's Day, so I'm struggling with that too! I ended up just getting him a new hat from his favorite band. Fingers crossed it shows up in time.
My DH’s bday was 5/7 and then we have Father’s Day right after (he has the same issue as my bday is 5/24 not long after Mother’s Day, plus our anniversary is 5/30).
Every year I make him a photo book of pictures of him with the kids during the year. This year I also got him a shirt that says ‘you don’t scare me, I have four kids.’ And I also may get him a new ciffeemaker. For his bday I got him a new smart thermostat (used to have the nest and got the ecobee) plus a couple smaller things. It sounds boring but he was into it.
Dh actually asked for something weeks ago, which is totally unlike him. There is a book he wants in audio so that he can listen to it back and forth to work. Easy enough. I may get him some athletic pants that he likes to wear around the house.
We purchased a state park annual pass around Mother's Day that we are also counting as the Father's Day gift. It's $99 value. DH also said he wants an outdoor bluetooth speaker, which I already ordered from Amazon.
These are weird, but... I'm getting my dad a really nice pair of sneakers. They live near the beach and he loves to walk, but between tons of arthritis in his knees and hips and neuropathy in his feet, he is having a hard time getting the right shoes. I'm getting him a pair of Brooks sneakers that are supposed to be great for bad knees. My bad knees and I swear by Brooks.
For DH, I'm getting him some Tommy John lounge pants. He loves Tommy John stuff but doesn't have any of the pants.
My DH always says he’s super excited about his gifts but then doesn’t use them. Exhibit A: unused massage gift card from last Father’s Day Exhibit B: unopened ginger beer brew kit from Christmas Exhibit C: silk sleep mask that was worn once MAYBE from his birthday
mae0111, DH gets his mom New Balance walking shoes with special insoles and socks for Mother’s Day and her birthday (right after Christmas) every year. I find it weird, just because it’s Every Single Year.
I’m laughing because my grandmother got my dad (her son) PJs for Christmas every year. Size small. In his prime, my dad was 6ft tall and 200lbs. And he didn’t wear PJs. Slept in his underwear and just threw on sweats or jeans. Hated PJs. Received them every single year. They got donated immediately every year.
Booze for DH. It used to be booze and a set of specialty glasses and a cocktail book, but we now have wine glasses, champagne flutes, copitas (for tequila), scotch glasses, martini glasses, and rock salt shot glasses. ... we are out of room. Although he does need some pint glasses...
I'm not sure what route I'm going this year. Tequila is his favorite, but he's already got like 6-7 bottles. (He hoards... if he likes something, he wants just a smaaaaaaaaaaall taste so that he can savor it for as long as possible)
We started watching the Star Wars movies in succession with the girls so I got each kid a Yoda shirt and DH one that says "Yoda Best Dad Ever". He's also getting shot glasses.
I ended up going with new BBQ tools after discovering rust on everything. Also a bag of mesquite chips he can play around with. If he doesn’t use them after a couple weeks, I can!
So I found out the coffeemaker DH’s coworker has costs $1k. So that’s not happening amid a global pandemic and job uncertainty. Now I need to come up with a different somewhat big gift.
I did finally finish his photo book yesterday - yay!
I ended up ordering DH a new phone so I would stop hear him whining about his phone taking so long to load Facebook or it locking him out of his pictures. Hopefully he will stinking answer the new phone.
Side SOS. I got over heated at the grocery store Saturday and wasn't feeling very great. Got home and went to get out of the car and the whole world started to spin. Sat back down and called DH to come out and help. It went to voicemail. I could see them inside. Waited 5 minutes and went in and just laid down on the hard cool floor. He was like you should have said you needed help and I was like I did I called you. DD pipped up before he could say anything "daddy said to ignore his phone he would get it later"...
