So I am 0.5 lbs shy of losing 30 lbs. Yay me! I used to be a size 14 and now I am an 8 or 10. Most of my adult life I have been around a 10 (I'm 37) I only gained a lot of weight at the end of my marriage, and then I lost 50 lbs ending around Sept 2010 and then I gained 40 back and started losing it again in March of this year. My point is that I haven't yo yo'ed my whole life. This weight gain thing is an issue only in the last 3 years or so. So I definitely have to figure out how to maintain the weight loss this time but that is a topic for another post.
So I would say 80% of my clothes are 8/10 or Large (my current size) the rest are 12, 14 and I even have 2 skirts that are 16s. I have some tops that are XL and even some XXL. Of the tops the only one that was more expensive was an XL sweater.
The question is should I get rid of all of it now? The only stuff worth having tailored is the two size 16 skirts. All the other stuff is cheap that I bought b/c I didn't plan to be a larger size for long. Should I give it away? I kind of want to. I think it will be "cleansing" for me. And also give me more order in my closet.
Also, do you think I can have the XL sweater tailored? can you tailor a sweater?
Yay for losing weight! Toss the old stuff that's too big. If the skirts are worth it, take to the tailor. It's not going to be worth tailoring a sweater, IMO. Find a donation center like Salvation Army and donate. Keep your receipt for tax deductions.
What did you end up with from shopping last night?
Not sure if this matters but the sweater was kind of expensive (for me anyway), it was around $100 and I really like it. Is it just that you can't tailor a sweater?
Last night I ended up with two pairs of jeans - one bootcut and one skinny SIZE EIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got that t-shirt I showed you in black and then a necklace, earrings and a few things from Bath & Body works. I stayed under my budget b/c I wanted to buy way more, but I was just shopping in my closet this morning and SO MUCH STUFF FITS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY
Tailor anything that's worth tailoring and donate the rest. If I lose weight, I toss old stuff pretty much immediately to prevent me from feeling like I have wiggle room.
Im a weight yoyo girl myself. I would keep in in some plastic bins where i dont see them for a while and then once i know the weight is going to stay off id donate it.

I stuck all my big clothes in the basement for now and will donate when I am ready. I didn't buy anything too great since I wasn't planning on being that size for long. Turns out a few eyars later was the limit.
I am so happy for you!!! I have a bin of all my good skinny clothes just waiting for me to get there again. Hopefully, you and others will continue to be an inspiration to me.
As far as anything that is larger...if is it great quality, have it tailored. Anything that isn't obviously donate because if you try to talior it, it most likely won't look right.
Donate whatever doesn fit and tailor what you want to keep!
How did you lose the weight?
Thanks! As for the how question... I started in March mostly with working out. I lost about 18 pounds I think from March to May with just eating healthier and working out (6 days a week, including one with a trainer). Then in May it stopped. In August I started up again when we did the Weight Loss check in.. I started using MFP but realized I was probably eating way too much bread (even though it was whole grain, like 4 servings a day of bread!) I stopped bring my Lean Cuisine paninis to work for lunch and started making salads. I actually cut way back on the workouts and now I focus more of my efforts on what I eat. I eat under 1500 calories a day - no bread (maybe 1-2 times a month and that includes pizza) and no sugar for sugars sake (again maybe 1-2 times a month I'll have a cupcake. Sugar for sugars sake is basically anything that is "just sugar" - cake, cookies, ice cream etc) I have my treat night once a week - TCBY with my son and I get a ton of toppings! I work out 3 times a week - kickboxing, zumba and yoga. I like the classes because I get energy and socializing time in too with the other members of the class. Great way to meet people if you aren't afraid to talk to them!

Awesome job with the weight loss! I had lost about 20 lbs last year and got rid of all my too-big clothes right away. I gave some to my mom and donated the rest.
