I have a very random random question for anyone in the northern va area. I’m in Alexandria and my elderly dog recently discovered swimming and seems to love it. But I can’t find any damn beaches less than 30+ minutes away. Anything on the Potomac or it’s creeks near me (I don’t know what they’re called... rivulets?) involves a steep walk or boulders that neither of us can navigate. We’ve been to Mason Neck, aquía Landing, leesylvania and they’re great but far. If you have a dog around here where do you take them swimming? Thanks!

I reluctantly paid for Beachbody workouts (I had posted on here about a friend awkwardly sending me an invoice). Anyway, the price for the year of access is very reasonable, and today was day 8 of the 21 day fix workouts- feeling good!
Do you find the Beachbody workouts are worth it? How long are the typical workouts?
I think we are going to get another big storm tonight. I’m always nervous about power loss but I really don’t want an outage now that we have such a fully stocked fridge/freezer. At least we don’t have to go anywhere?
There was a whole article in the Atlantic today about missing eavesdropping. Is someone trolling for ideas in my posts here?! It really is something I miss a lot.
It's National Tequila day! It's also our eldest daughter and son in law's 16th anniversary, so DH and I are celebrating both with margaritas.
My daughter is making a wedding cake copy for them, and I wish that I was on the other side of the country so that I could have some lemon cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate buttercream. I love cake, and her wedding cake was amazing. There was another flavor on every other layer, and it was good, but none of us can remember what it was.

I have lost 15 lbs so far this year with Beachbody on demand. I do 100 Morning Meltdown, which is a series of 100 unique workouts, one per day.

Ditto the shirlington dog park but I do think there is a steep walk down. You can enter the creek at barcroft park without a steep entrance (there is a concrete bridge in the spot you can enter) or at bluemont park. All in Arlington.
Eta: lake accotink also has a beach. No kid swimming but they probably allow dogs.
I'm not an alarmist but renting a stranger's swimming pool sounds a bit shady. Swimply absolves itself from any liabilty, they are just the middle man. And I would not trust Karen in Pleasantville to have the appropriate level of insurance coverage to operate as a business and protect customers in the event of an accident.
I was wondering about this too! If someone hurts themselves on your property, it sounds like your SOL.
I would never open up myself to this kind of liability as a homeowner. All I had to do to book it was create an account. It doesn’t seem like I even waived liability, but I would have to go check. So yeah, as a homeowner, hell no, but I have no problem using it.

Yes. I would not do it as a homeowner. But I will enjoy it while I can. LOL
Many of them ban kids and all I have seen require two adults over 25 . But yeah

The price for the year is $99.99 I think and there is a lot to choose from! The 21 day fix workouts are 30 min, but I think there are longer ones too.

I know two people who had awesome results with Beach Body workouts and diets. One of them struggles with weight loss due to thyroid and it helped her lose weight, although she was working out twice a day...Anyway it's a tad MLMish, at least was, but you get a coach who helps with diet and support in motivating you to work out. As silly as it sounds the colored containers that portion out how much you should get of greens, proteins, fruit etc. are appealing. Its a little more work (I don't want to meal prep) but you know what should eat, how much and when.

Thanks. I was looking at shirlington on Google maps and I'm hoping it's 👍. Coincidentally enough we just went too accotink yesterday. But with what I'm hearing about poison algae, I decided not to let her in. There was A LOT of algae! It's more of a problem in standing water I know so I think a creek generally would be better than a pond from that perspective, too.

Oh yeah I would be worried about that too! My kids have swam in 4 mile run a ton of times and so far still alive I don't them out their heads under though lol.

That's weird they ban kids. I mean, I get it, but I imagine that eliminates the majority of their potential clientele. I can't imagine paying that much to swim as an adult. There can't possibly be that much of a market for that!
I just met my next door neighbor while I was pulling weeds in the front yard. He seemed really cool. He said that they’re having some friends over for a game night and I’m welcome to come. Then he told me that his wife is an ER nurse. Then I glanced toward his garage and saw a Trump/Pence sign. Yeahhhhhh no thanks dude. See ya never.

I’m on day 4 of isolation and I’m crying. I had to go back to the doctor yesterday. My oxygen is not staying up. My first Covid test was negative. They sent me for chest X-rays and it was negative for pneumonia. I had to go retest for Covid. Apparently, you can test too soon and they need to swab both sides of the nose for more accurate results. They only swab one side aprox. 12/13 hours after my first symptom.
DS ran arms wide open to hug me when I came home last night. I had to yell no at him. It scared him and he cried. My heart shattered. DD keeps knocking on my door sliding notes under it.
This shit is rough. I need to know what’s going on.
mysteriouswife- Do you know when you might have been exposed? mofongo posted a while ago about day 14 being when you should get tested because earlier might give false negatives. I hope you get answers and feel better soon.

We have no clue how I got this. We have been super vigilant about me not going out. DS has been in daycare. I took both kids to the doctor in the last two weeks and I went to vote.
They are treating this like a severe upper respiratory, but I’m barely responding to medication that typically corrects bronchitis for me.

Oh my god that fucking cabinet. We got it down, but the installer had stripped all the screws. My H and I finally just, “1, 2, 3!” and yanked the bitch down. I might have flexed when all was said and done 😂
But now we can get the big ass fridge! Abundant cold soda, here I come!

I’m so sorry:( I just looked back at your recent posts, definitely your symptoms sound suspicious for covid. I hope they agree to retest you, so you will know and if positive it will be counted. You’re already doing the right thing by quarantining and trying to rest. Sorry you feel so bad. ((Hugs)) this all sucks SO bad.
I was tested today. I went through urgent care both times. Their lab is getting results back in 3-5 days. I got my first test back yesterday. I hope to know something on Sunday or Monday.
