Ok, I know this is completely eye roll worthy, but OMG, DH got me a new bag for mother's day, but he didn't order it because he wasn't sure which size I wanted. Of course as soon as I went to order, out of stock.
It was in stock this morning, add to cart, check out. Chase immediately sends me a text "was this you?" YES, it was ME! I texted back yes, but then they're all "oh sorry we already declined."
So now I am waiting for the store to open so I can have them re-run the card.
Come on, just let me have some joy of a new bag, credit card!
Update-they are re-running the charge and it should be good to go within 24 hours. So let's cross everything!

We rented 2 hours at a private pool on Swimply and I was SOOO excited and have been excited for a week and now it looks like we are going to be rained out. Bah.
ssmjlm , I guess it shows what a special purchase it was since your CC was like - newp, definitely not her purchase!
This reminds me of DH and I ordering grocery delivery years ago, pre kids. They had these 50 cent burritos and we put like 20+ in our cart and the grocery system was like "are you sure?" We still joke that ordering in excess of ~15 50 cent burritos probably sends an automatic call for a police wellness check.
MY humor is probably borderline inappropriate/nuts right now b/c we're binging season 2 of Rick and Morty.
karinothing you mean Swimply? Have you used them before? I remember seeing them on Shark Tank and thought it was a cool concept.
I’m taking an expected PTO today. We’re getting our cable and WiFi upgraded this afternoon and Verizon shut us off at 6am, so that’s awesome.
We have a busy weekend. I’ve got 4 friends coming over tonight to hangout and then we have another group coming over tomorrow night. My smoker is going to be getting a workout.

For like the 4th night in a row I've had horrible insomnia. I mean, I have chronic insomnia but it's REALLY getting to me this week, probably because I started working out before work again. I just had to take a quick power nap (at 8am!) because I was delirious and snapping at the kids. My SIL gave me some pot gummies last weekend, and I think I'm gonna need to take one tonight to see if that helps me sleep. I'm going to my doc the second week of August and I'll ask for some help then, but I NEED something for the interim. I have 3 hours of meetings today that I need to get through (heavy for a Friday at my job) and I just can't be going on so little sleep anymore.

amandakisser DH and I both feel like the last few nights have been so hard to sleep. Toss, turn, wake each other up.
I'm officially part of the "older ladies" club! Went to the GYN yesterday and when prescribing BCP's she said "this low-dose is better for older women". Not quiet "late" 30's yet, but I know in GYN world once you hit 35 it's over. Not sure how low dose it is since it's what I took for many, many years before, but let's give it a try. Apparently if you get the cheap version of the cheap version it's also free, much better than the $75 I used to pay every 3 months.
I'm LOVING the new Taylor Swift album. Flame me, but I'm a fan, and LOVE Bon Iver, plus this is a very different direction and I like it.

You legit just made my day! I tried to book a vrbo or Airbnb with a private pool months ago but couldn’t find any properties that had that near us for a reasonable nightly rate.
Omg. The kids are going to be so pumped! I’m going to see if one of the ones that popped up is available this weekend.

I've been a fan forever, and she's only getting better with age. Female songwriter music (what do you call that?) has always been my #1 genre, though. I'm almost through my first listen of the album and I love it too.

So glad. I know here weekend dates are hard to find on short notice, I hope you have good luck!
Since March I have become so cliche... sourdough starter/baking bread and crackers with it, and baking banana bread. lol
I am really glad that I decided to join the sourdough starter club though, because it is something I have always wanted to do, and we hadn't found any bread locally that tastes as good. We actually used to have bread sent from our favorite bread bakery in AZ a few times a year, but that was kind of expensive and took up precious freezer space that we don't have much of anyway. It is so convenient to be able to make it and not have to plan ahead for ordering and shipping.
I also started making my own chai concentrate for my morning chai latte in March, and I have mastered it. I tweaked it until I got the recipe just the way I like it, and I like it more than the Tazo stuff that I used to use. I was having a hard time finding a pitcher to keep the concentrated in in the fridge (apparently I am picky and nothing fit my requirements), so I grabbed an empty gin bottle and have been using that as a temporary solution. So Klassy. ;p I kind of like the size and shape, but it is pretty heavy when it is full. I made so much concentrate yesterday that I had to use a second bottle, and it makes me laugh to see two gin bottles on the door of the fridge, especially because one of the bottles still has the label on it.

@@@
A random, not sure why I'm so fascinated by this. At the GYN yesterday this poor very young dad to be waited for a long time as he didn't get the message he couldn't go in to any apts. (not sure if mom was trying to keep him away). They tried really hard to calm him and gave him free samples. Anyway it broke my heart that spouses or dads of any age who will go (as they should!) to apts can't, at least in my area. I had a friend even get induced in March because her H wouldn't have been able to be in L&D if she went like a week later. I then learned you can't take the baby with you to a post-partum apt. either. I get it for the babies safety, but like what if you're a single mom, your spouse doesn't have leave, in normal times you don't have family etc. who the hell is supposed to watch the baby? Sadly all this stuff keeps reminding me why we never had kids, we didn't have backup in non-COVID times, how do you do it now?!

The one I want that has a slide isn’t available, but it doesn’t seem to have any availability outside of 7am even during the week.
But there’s another one close to us for a little more an hour with both morning and afternoon availability Saturday and Sunday. I’m just waiting for DH to get up to decide what day and time.
I am giddy right now! The boys are going to be so freaking excited!

This is how I have been all week. Stupid rain! Ours has a slide too.

I hope it works out or you can adjust to another time that isn’t too far off. What is the deal with that since it’s within 24 hours? Will the host let you reschedule?

They can reschedule w/in the same week or refund. But I don't know how soon before I would have to ask for that. The weather is so fickle here. It could be fine, or it could not be.
Tortillas are easy! Having a tortilla press is CLUTCH, but not entirely necessary. It just really helps get them into the circle shape and evenly thick. I'll try to find the recipe H uses for butter tortillas. They are so freaking good.

Ther problem is that we like the thin, Sonoran type, and we haven't been able to get it right. DH orders them from a tortilleria in Tucson.

www.justataste.com/30-minute-homemade-flour-tortillas-recipe/ is my quarantine discovery. I'm sure there are fancier recipes out there, but this is super easy and infinitely yummier than store-bought. I don't have a tortilla press, so they turn out pretty thick because there's a limit to how thin I can get them with a rolling pin, but they're still good.
ETA: Just read your clarification on thin tortilla preference, ignore me!
So the rumor is that my school district will open with a limited amount of students. We will be required to go in as of now. A teacher I know says that she does not feel safe returning to school but is taking 3 separate trips in the month of August. If we go back she might not even have contact with students given her position, she may be teaching over zoom but in school. How can you not feel safe but on go vacation, eat at indoor restaurants and visit a tourist area. I did not say anything to her but to me it doesn’t make sense.

Am I supposed to be concerned the homeowners are going to murder me or that I’m breaking zoning violations? Because the former seems highly unlikely and I don’t really give a fuck about the latter since it’s not my property.

There's a tortilla shop near my house. They make the Sonoran style but I didn't know what they're called. They are delicious! They've ruined me and I don't like other types of flour tortillas now.
I put my zip code into Swimply and the first listing that came up had a host photo of a calendar page with a woman posing seductively in her underwear. A lot of the listings say no bathroom available. Not that I’d want to use anyone’s bathroom, but I have 2 small children so I can imagine a very embarrassing moment when they say they have to go “right now”.
TBM what about a swing top bottle? We have some round and some square ones, so you can probably find something that would fit nicely.
Will you share the recipe for the chai concentrate?
I am a measure in your hands kind of cook, so besides this being to my taste, amounts are more ish than exact.
I buy everything in bulk and use all organic. We have a great Middle Eastern/Indian market nearby where I can get most of the stuff, so that helps keep the cost down.
In a pot on the stove over high heat combine:
5 cups water 2/3 c. raw sugar 3 ceylon cinnamon sticks, broken in half 3 whole star anise 10 ish whole cloves sliced ginger it-the recipe said 3", but I use more black pepper- I like a lot of pepper, maybe 1 1/2 tablespoons whole peppercorns that I crush a bit with a mortar and pestle 16+ green cardamom pods that I crush, just enough to break the pods, not grind them
Stir to dissolve sugar, briing to a boil then lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes or so. Remove from heat, add tea and let it steep. I let it steep until I remember to decant it, which is usually most of the day...at last 4 hours, but usually much longer. I use 24 grams or so of loose tea (I like darjeeling) that I put in a muslin bag...that way I can use the strainer lid on my pot. I don't mind pepper in there, but don't want bits of tea leaves floating around.

I’m trying to convince my H that we need to bring down the 2 empty stupid mini-cabinets above our fridge.
We live in a 70s-built house and our OOOOOOLD fridge finally bid 2020 adieu. We’re going to buy a replacement tonight, but these goddamn cabinets are really limiting our choices because it makes the space so small. They are literally empty because wtf am I going to with stupid 70s mini cabinets.
There are 6 screws, no molding, and the paint color we used in the kitchen is still available. We are taking these bitches down.
daisy0721, that came up the other day someone else said they saw a teacher saying they don't feel safe, but were going to DISNEY! Pretend FL isn't a big mess, you always come back with a cold at Disney because they don't clean, and even if they did there's no way to clean every hour given the volume of people. It just seems like a one way ticket to 'Rona town. I also agree that you can't travel, eat in restaurants, go about daily life but then say you're not comfortable, it's hypocritical even if you are "traveling somewhere super secluded and only stopping once blah blah".
On the radio today they had a "Karen of the day" making fun of people who are complaining about those not wearing masks. No, they're not Karen's, they're trying to keep safe when they have to go out. To all the people who had to rE oh-PeN the EcOn-Oh-Me if you don't like it stay home, they need to wear a mask or stay home if they don't like it.
