There are certain things that are still out of stock in my local stores, things, that 5+ months in to the Pandemic, I thought would be back. I'm guessing that at this point, the manufacturers are having production issues and it's not people buying them all out. I can't seem to get napkins, Method cleaners, or the iced tea mix that we normally buy. It's frustrating. I did just order $50+ worth of Method products from Target, I don't know why I didn't think to check online before, but given the mix of delivery dates, I'm guessing that they are all coming from different warehouses. So strange and surreal still.
Some of my kids are going to be in for a rude awakening in September when school starts again. It's nearly 11am and only 2 out of 4 kids are awake.

I finally ordered Method hand soap refills on amazon. I couldn't find them in store for anything and I hate to waste plastic buying more bottles. I ended up with six refills which feels like hoarding for a single person, but I'm well stocked for winter.

DH said one grocery chain here has better meat selection (other stores are still limiting how much you can buy), but prices have gone way up. I also miss the days of staying up until 2am then sleeping until noon.
Has anyone heard from Janegold? I don't think I've seen her post in a while. Hope everything went ok.
I am not as surprised that I can't find some cleaning products, but I have to admit, the napkins thing did surprise me. Even generic brands are nowhere to be found most times I shop.
I started seeing a chiropractor in March for my chronic tension headaches, and was going bi-weekly, and today I went after 4 weeks, and everything is good. I believe I had one bad headache in 4 weeks which is impressive considering I have other things that trigger headaches, plus I sleep on a couch, am going through a divorce, have normal pandemic stress, etc. I am so happy!

I've been complaining about my job for a bit now, but I've just had it. I'm so sick of people being assholes. It's my job to make sure everyone that comes into the clinic is wearing a clean, fresh mask so we are giving them to everyone. No, your skull face neck gaiter isn't good enough in a clinic setting. I'm sorry you can't bring your entire family with you but the waiting room needs to have social distancing. Why yes, if you lie to me about your symptoms, your doctor will make you leave and go to a clinic prepared to deal with covid symptoms, but now you just exposed a bunch of essential workers.
I can't find crushed tomatoes at least 50% of the time, which seems like a weird thing to still be so consistently out of stock.
Quite unexpectedly (i.e. because I misread my calendar) I have a day off today! There's an optional training I could have attended, but given the extreme uselessness of the two days of training I just finished I decided not to go. Teachers don't report to our buildings until tomorrow, so it's 9:00 on Wednesday and I'm still in my pajamas for the last time until either Thanksgiving break or a forced school closure due to Covid. I think I'm going to batch cook and make pesto and zucchini muffins with the excess from my garden.
We haven't had issue with napkins and I even scored some clorox wipes at Costco a while back. DH can't find regular Pam at the moment, but we have limited grocery options at the beach. And it's so much more expensive.
I am so fed up with our mortgage company. First, the fucked up our refinance and forgot to pay off the old loan. We refinanced with the same company! Then, despite me double checking that they were going to pay our real estate tax because it was due before we owed our first payment on the new loan, they paid the 2019 amount, not the 2020 amount. After 2 days of calling with no help, I paid the different/penalties myself. Finally, 12 days after my first call, I get 2 calls back, where the people contradict each other on who was going to pay what. I just politely told them they needed to get their acts together as they cost the homeowner money due to negligence.
I think we may request to cancel escrow and just do it ourselves.
omg last night H and I forgot to feed Other Stella! Well, we didn’t forget, we just each assumed the other had. And I think being off-schedule for the past couple of days traveling back had her so confused she forgot to be completely annoying about it.
We realized when H mentioned that her stomach was rumbling so loudly it woke him up and she was slow to eat her breakfast so he thought she might not be sick. That’s when I was like, “Well, you fed her dinner last night, right?” Nope. Oops!
Today is my dad's birthday. I've had a lot of feelings this week about my family being far away (for various reasons I won't bore you with) and I wish I could be there to celebrate with them. I am jealous of my sister for living next door to my parents and getting to "bubble" with them. I hate it, but I'm not sure I will ever fully forgive her for choosing to move to Texas and bringing my parents with her. It is their lives and their choices, but I never in a million years would have thought we'd live so far apart and I don't want to live there. Seeing what a shit show it is there right now validates my choice not to follow them, but it also worries me because I want them to be safe.
Unrelated, we had an energy audit last week and the updates they suggested are actually very affordable since our electric company gives major rebates for making them. We are probably going to move forward with adding insulation and various attic ventilation updates, as well as an attic fan. However, when they turned our AC back on after the evaluation, they set it to "on" instead of "auto" like we normally have it, and it's been a HUGE improvement in temperature on our upper level ever since - to a point where it's completely comfortable up there without making any house improvements. I think the "on" setting will result in higher bills, though, so I am guessing that's not a good long term solution.
Jesus. And I just took Other Stella to the vet for her Bordatella and nail trim and it was a disaster. The tech who brought her out was like, "Yeah so we're going to have to charge you for advanced nail trims from now on." Apparently she fought them so badly they needed three or four people, had to muzzle her, and she had a BOWEL MOVEMENT. WTF dog! She's never been THAT freaked out before. The tech was like, "So maybe you could practice handling her paws at home?" I told her I handle and touch her paws ALL.THE.TIME. at home (just randomly and also we use these anti-fungal wipes on her pads where I really have to get in there between her toes and stuff). I don't know what else to do. I don't care about being charged more, but I hate to put her through that much stress. I asked the tech if she REALLY needed them trimmed and she said yeah, they were pretty long and that's not good either. UGH.
A friend is doing some kind of 10 day green juice fast. It's not actually juice, just some kind of dehydrated greens mixed with water. She's been on it for 3 days and while browsing Pinterest last night I could see that all she's been pinning is food. She has tried every diet under the sun and I feel for her, I just wish she could see that this isn't a quick fix.

I am going to the lake in a few minutes to spend the night in my friend's pool house. She is high risk for covid problems, and a lot of her friends live far away. Usually, she would have a house full, all summer, with people coming from all over, so she is super lonely. The kids and I are on the same page, unlike a lot of her friends, with social distancing, and we are happy to camp out in the tiny pool house, rather than go into the regular house, and hang out far apart.
I terminated one of my direct reports so her team is reporting to me. One of the team members is so freaking annoying. He complains about everything and his voice is so freaking loud. Is there a tactful way to tell him to keep his voice down? Closing either door isn’t an option.

My dog used to be the same way about nail trims. The vet tech would take him in the back and have multiple people hold him, and I could hear him screaming and snarling, and it took a long time. We changed vets, and nail trims are a totally different experience at the new vet's office. It's quick and he doesn't fight nearly as much (he still doesn't love it) and doesn't seem upset afterward. All that to say, it's not necessarily the dog that's the problem. If you dog has vet anxiety, you could try getting her nails trimmed at a groomer instead of the vet's office.
I have a feeling I'm going to be dealing with major work drama today. My new boss starts tomorrow, and my current boss is transitioning to a different department but remaining 25% allocated to supporting our team in an advisory role. For the past month she's been talking about how she only has 10 hours a week for us and how are we going to do the work without her. So now our director made a transition plan for how we're going to do the work without her and she's mad about it And instead of talking to the director, she's being super passive-aggressive and calling me to complain about it. It's inappropriate and I have no idea what to say. But I'm trying to stay on her good side because I'm job searching and will need a reference and connections from her.
I'm into hour five of a long, dry Webex meeting. I opted to set up at our breakfast bar since DH is OOT and I need to be somewhat available for the kids, so I've been sorting all the random papers and crap in the pinboard/chalkboard/wall basket area. I've tossed so many random school papers. Why do we have a January school lunch menu? The kids almost never even got the school lunch.

"Jim, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but voices really carry in this office and people can hear everything you're saying." Hopefully he'll get the message, but if not, I don't think it's unreasonable to tell him it's distracting and ask him to lower the volume.

Yeah, she used to be fine getting them at daycare, but the last time they tried (months ago) they said she wouldn't let them and they weren't going to restrain her. So I started having the vet do it. I'm sure she struggled, but they never said anything like today. I may have to try an actual groomer.

Do you think maybe she's just at her limit for the week? You guys did just take a major road trip, she's adjusting to being back in your regular house, you didn't feed her dinner last night - she's probably all mixed up and a vet visit may have just pushed her over the edge.
That sounded more accusatory than I meant it, lol. You aren't doing anything wrong! But maybe next trip will be easier because she'll be back into her normal routine.

No, I know what you mean. And that might be it, I did think of that. I just really needed to get this done this week because she was overdue from being gone all summer.

One of my clients is driving me crazy. For the entire design we were coordinating with the CEO and CFO of the company we're doing a renovation for. They were kind of annoying because they were really indecisive, but we got through it and submitted final drawings right before Christmas. In May, this other woman from their company came into the project to do one specific task, but then started changing a bunch of other things. Her job doesn't even have anything to do with design, she is an account manager or something. She literally emails me daily and talks about how the CEO and CFO want this or that, but if they actually did, then why didn't they mention it 10 months ago when they were approving the designs that we presented to them? I've never worked on a project with such a demanding client, and I used to do residential work, lol. I just want it to be over.
It must be a full moon for work issues. I’ve had it with my coworker today. After three years of working with her, I wonder every day how someone could be so damn dumb when it comes to knowledge of her job (she’s been doing it nearly 20 yrs). Even if I tell her something 10x she still acts like it’s the first time it’s come up.

flygirl, I said to DH last night it must have been a full moon! I told one person at the end of the night (after 6:30pm) "sorry I've already closed down, thought I'd get your voicemail" and he goes "it's ok I can wait". My own fault for calling, but like if you also work full time, shouldn't you say "it's ok it's not an emergency, could you look in to it tomorrow and email me with the answer? *sigh*

Funny...this same person knows that I work early and get done earlier. She doesn’t even think about starting work until 9:30-10 so she’ll call me at 5, 6 and even 7 pm on my cell. I do not answer anymore because it’s usually something that could be done next week, let alone the next day.
I’ve been doing great on keto, recently switched to low carb. But then my H was craving my challah bread so I made one and low carb is now out the fucking window. I am helpless before a fresh, warm loaf of challah bread.

We have a woman like that in my office. We nicknamed her capslock, since everything has to be done at max volume. We tried tactfully asking her to be quieter and we mentioned it to her supervisor but got nowhere. Eventually the majority of us got noise-canceling headphones.
