There's some of this going on in the other thread but I want to pull it out. Thinking about this makes me happy and I don't want to have to scroll through the other posts cuz some of them are downers, lol.
Dream with me!
So, we've discussed Sally Yeats as AG. Warren for Sec of Treasury Inslee for Sec of Energy or head of EPA I think it would be awesome for Julian Castro to run and then abolish Homeland Security Deb Haaland (congresswoman from New Mexico) for Sec of Interior Susan Rice for Sec of State Duckworth for head of VA Mayor Pete to the UN Jill Biden for Sec of Education Fauci for HHS, obv

I, um, thought this was going to be a furniture post. Like, "Show me your big ol' fantasy cabinets!" I've been looking at a lot of sideboard/buffets and was looking forward to seeing pics, LOL.
But I'll take Yates as AG. I don't think Fauci wants a political post in any admin, TBH. But HHS is going to be critical.
I can't decide if I'd prefer having Warren at Treasury or at Commerce. Can we bring Julian Castro back at HUD or should he go to a different agency?
Also, not Cabinet-level, but I personally am looking forward to Jessica Rosenworcel running the FCC.
We need him here in WA! He won his primary and is likely to win reelection. I think he's done a great job with the pandemic response, and we'll continue to need him to navigate out of it successfully.

I would LOVE to see Castro in charge of immigration...
And unpopular I know, but I want Warren in the Senate. I fear we will lose the seat to a Republican again if Baker gets to make even a temporary replacement and even if we do take the Senate the margin is going to be very thin.

Julian Castro for AG Elizabeth Warren for Treasury Tammy Duckworth for Defense Jay Inslee for EPA Susan Rice for State Jahana Hayes for Education Pete Buttigieg for Veterans Affairs Corey Booker for UN Ambassador Kirsten Gillibrand for Health and Human Services
Homeland Security is also super important but don't have anyone in mind just yet. But I think the scope needs to change - pandemic response can maybe fall under there. So while I wouldn't mind Castro there, I wouldn't want him to abolish it. And I prefer him as AG anyway.

Honestly, maybe the policy side is the best place to keep her. She can push in different ways from the Senate than from inside the admin. And I agree about the senators. We need to be really careful about moving too many people out of senate seats.

I also don't want Jill in the cabinet. I know the Bidens aren't the shadyass Trumps but I am just DONE with family members working in critical roles or positions. If Biden weren't the nominee I'd be all for her as Secretary of Education but not with Biden as POTUS.

Yeah, I don't like the optics of this either. We need to pick the best people, not the people who know the best people (or, in Trump's cabinet, the people - nobody there is best). I don't know enough about her to say she wouldn't be a great candidate, but I'm sure there is someone else who could do it without the nepotism.
Would he even want that? I mean, he has done his duty. And he gets salary for life. Why not enjoy it now? He doesn't seem power hungry.
Michelle isn't power hungry either, but I could see her, as proposed by smock, as SCOTUS. She was the one that was passionate about the law when they met. She was his mentor. She sacrificed her goals and priorities to support him as President. It's her turn to make her own mark.
Can we also re-hire all of the Lifetime civil servants Trump fired under shady circumstances because they stood up to him? I’m thinking specifically of the group that testified at the impeachment hearings who all ended up jobless.
Also, would like Buttigieg to be appointed to unravel the kids in cages mess and get them all returned to their families. I think it’s going to require his McKinsey skills to solve that mess.

Yeah I'd consider bringing in Vindman for something important.
Jill Biden plans to continue teaching even if she's First Lady.
Yeah I dont see her as the type to be interested in stepping away from her career and serving in her husband's cabinet.
I don't think she'd want to be part of the cabinet for optics reasons, especially after all the nepotism in the current White House. But I wouldn't describe it as "stepping away from her career." We wouldn't say that about any other educator stepping up to Secretary of Education. It isn't like Jared's "advisory" roles.

I spent a year in commuting with, all day class, studying with H. It was... not good for us. In addition to her having her own career, I'm not sure husband/wife working together that closely is a good thing, for the marriage or the job.
