Dear cell phone store, Thank you for making my new cell phone purchase and switching carriers a breeze yesterday! 20 minutes and I was out the door with my upgrade. Signed, Happy customer
Dear Instacart, I'm so confused. My shopper completed my order. He even texted me pictures and substitutions. And then just... disappeared? He logged off the chat feature and stopped responding. Now the order is cancelled and I have to start all over? Where did he go? What happened to all that food? Signed, I don't understand
Dear Chromebook Why can't I plug an ethernet cord into you? WHY! Frustrated Mom
Dear IRS Liaison Why did you have to prove to all of us tax preparers how easy it was to hack into a computer using a secure wi-fi connection during our seminar last September? This just made us having no wi-fi at work a good thing but it is going to make distance learning a pain I think. Watching the Feds hack someone's computer during class was enlightening Tax Lady
Dear 186momx, You can buy a USB to CAT5 port adaptor for cheap. Amazon, Best Buy, probably Staples too. I had to get them for distance learning in the spring because my wifi couldn't handle all the simultaneous zooms. Signed, Twinmomma
Dear electricity gods, What has my township done to anger you? Last night, a transformer, electric lines, and branches fell across three different roads by my house, which made travel impossible. Most of the township did not have power for at least 4 hours. This morning, most of the roads are still closed and a tractor trailer knocked down more power lines elsewhere. Thankfully, no one was hurt and the power is on.
Dear 186momx, I have a friend who is a certified ethical hacker. He is paid big bucks to hack into all kinds of places, including government facilities and banks. His stories would make your head spin.
Sewing questions to all your sewers Why do you wash material before sewing it? I haven't been washing my fabric before hand sewing a few masks and my mom threw a fit on me and I got this big lecture on I have to wash fabric before using it. But she didn't tell me why! Not a sewer
I pretty much never pre-wash my fabric because I'm lazy and hate having to iron it after just to be able to cut it. Pre-washing helps with color running, shrinkage, and some fabric is pre-treated with weird stuff and it gets that off too. When I make a quilt I just throw it in the wash after it's all sewn together and use some of those "color catcher" dryer sheet looking things and it works fine. I basically only pre-wash when it's a fabric like a batik that might bleed a lot.
186momx- I wash fabric for masks because a lot of cotton shrinks a lot. I forgot on one batch when I was making surgical masks. I’d already cut the squares, and some of them shrunk almost a full inch! Those became kids masks.
186momx, wash because washing messes up fabric. It shrinks and doesn't weird things. If it's an item that you'd like to wash and dry with normal clothes.. wash it with those cycles before you make anything with it. (Says the woman who has to wash on delicate and hand dry and has lost several for not doing that.)
