I was having a hard time keeping the tears in last night (and the night before!), and I doubt tonight will be any different. I have been so despondent lately and this is like a shot of adrenaline. It is so needed right now, at least for me, to instill hope and inspire me to feel like there may be a light at the end of this long, shit-smelling tunnel we've been in for 3.5 years.
MIL is hosting a watch party. She was pressured into it by the local Democratic organization. She's worried about the technology but I'm excited to join in.
I've been really enjoying watching the convention. And by enjoying, I mean holding back tears and trying not to get too excited. It's been a nice throwback to what I thought America was before I found out it was actually a giant dumpster fire full of shit people. Gives me a little hope that maybe I can feel proud of us again someday.
I know I complained about this on Monday but I wish it wasn't on so late. It's been a struggle to get out of bed the last couple of days. Thankfully with working from home it's a short commute, but I really need to work out before work some days!
How are you all watching? I've been watching on the major networks (CBS, ABC) but they only show the 9-10 PM EST hour, and they often talk through a lot of it except the major speeches. I'd prefer to watch a live feed.
I'm going to cry tonight. This is killing me. We better win in November or I'm going to have a mental breakdown. This is giving me flashbacks to 2016. I was so hopeful going into election night. I am still boycotting 538 because I blame them for making me think HRC was going to win.

noodleoo, I watch on MSNBC which is airing it in full. I rarely watch the 24/7 news channels but I've also been enjoying the commentary trio of Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace and Joy Reid.
I watched the live stream from the DNC (no commentary) on my phone, and also the WaPo stream on YouTube (no interruptions during the event, a bit of commentary afterward). CSPAN is another good bet if you don't want interruptions.
I have not watched any of it yet. I want to, but I worry it will get my hopes up and I'm just..trying not to think about the presidential election to keep my anxiety down. Focusing on local races.
But I want to try to get in the right headspace to watch it.

I got the DNC20 Roku App. It's awesome. I had to miss part of the roll call and watched the NBC coverage and I was very disappointed. They talked over the last 10-15 states and I wanted to see NM.
After how well things have gone with the Dems this week, I *kinda* want to peek in next week for the RNC to see if it's a shitshow.
I will watch, but to give you an idea of the shitshow, the McCloskeys have been invited to the RNC. As you might recall, they are the couple that aimed guns at protestors in St. Louis.
Also I think Scott Baio will be there somewhere too.

Remember 2016 when we laughed at the RNC because Scott Baio was the biggest celebrity they could get to speak at the convention. Most people thought the whole thing was a shit show. I think that lulled us into an even higher sense of security that HRC would win - because who could vote for someone who couldn't even muster the support of his own party.
If 60% of the general public thinks it's embarrassing and awful, 100% of tRump supporters will think it's perfect.

I’ve been khive since day 1, so I will be an emotional wreck. Actually my Kamala and Hillary bobble heads will be sitting right next to me. I could do without Warren tonight but I’m not bothered.
The whole convention has been very soothing to me. I deadass have slept better this week then I have probably in 4 years, but at least since the start of covid. I am so grateful to the DNC for putting this on.
I’ve been watching on MSNBC but annoyed that they’re cutting out the final musical performances. According to the convention website there is an app for AppleTV, Roku, and FireTV (which is what we have), so I might try that.

They really do have such a disconnect from reality. Last night I watched C-Span while they took calls, and one Republican called in saying he was so "disappointed" that the democrats chose a man who "can barely string two sentences together." Like, you said you watched? They're not even processing reality.

It’s really easy to watch the speeches online afterward. I missed last night so I’ve been catching up throughout the day today, whenever I need a pick-me-up.
Think of it like having one piece of Halloween candy and slowly making your way through the rest of the bucket in the days that follow instead of overloading on sugar. 🙂
Is there any sort of schedule? I want to watch Obama, but I also want to lay in bed with a heating pad. And no TV in the bedroom. I’m guessing he’s last and I don’t know if I can make it.
