Anyone else having a hard time believing we're already two-thirds through September?! Jeez.
1. How far along are you? Team?
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time?
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant?
Rant: I did the 2 hour glucose tolerance test this weekend, and just like with DS, my fasting number bombed but the others were well under the limits. So GD diagnosis for me. Whomp whomp. I was just at my midwife last week and if I need insulin again (which I probably will) my clinical care will be transferred to an OB. Even if my placenta previa resolves itself, they'd want me to have baby by 38, 39 weeks tops so at this point I think I'm probably going to schedule a repeat c-section and be done with it.
Rave: I'm starting to feel baby move, which is basically the best thing ever.
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time?
The Halo bassinet. Which was also the thing I wanted last time but didn't have space for it. We ended up using the bassinet that came with the stroller and reaching down into that sucker was TOUGH once H went back to work until I had healed more. I'll be happy to have something that is more at bed-level this time. I think the "lesson" I learned with DS was that I didn't have to have all the things ready right away that he wouldn't be using for awhile. I'm more concerned about making sure we have a car seat, clean clothes, the bassinet, etc. and less about the sit-me-up chair, etc.
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant?
We have an 11 year old Golden Retriever. She's old and pretty oblivious to what is happened. She's amazing with DS but TBH I'm not sure how much longer she'll be around after DS2 is born.
Our CFO popped in my office Friday morning and let me know that because of our merger in the spring, we'll be rolling out some new initiatives from our new parent company... including 14 weeks of fully-paid maternity leave. I literally cried in my office! I took my 12 weeks of FLMA with DD1 and it was mostly unpaid. I was only planning on taking 8-10 weeks this time but now I'll get to be off until almost May! Still need to figure out if we'll keep DD1 and if so if it will be full or part-time, but it's nice to have options!
I'm feeling godod! A bit anxious for my midwife appointment and ultrasound in a few weeks to see baby again and talk about my placenta, but I'm feeling better and more optimistic about it all. Just excited for baby and feeling her move more and more consistently!
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time?
I don't feel like I have anything from DD1 that was amaaazing or life changing! We kept everything from DD1, clothes and all the baby stuff. I feel like we're pretty set and will just get the things we need like new bottles, seasonal clothes, a car seat cover for winter, swaddles (which we didn't use for DD1 and I want to make happen this time!), and a few odds and ends as needed. I didn't have a sit-me-up floor seat for DD1 but do plan to get one when we need it for DD2 - I have a feeling with 2 around, it will be helpful to have!
Both kiddos will also get some new toys here soon since we are converting the unfunctional front room/office into an office/playroom! It's going to be so nice to have a dedicated space for all their toys!
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant? lol, yup! We have our first baby who turned 8 this summer and he is the best good boy ever. He is so so so good with DD. He was weird when I was pregnant with her, like he knew something was up, and this time he just seems a little more clingy so we're trying to give him lots of attention and playtime.
achi, I'm sorry about your GD diagnosis on top of everything else you have going on! Even though you have been through it before, it sucks not to have things go the way you want them to!

1. How far along are you? Team? 21+2, DS2
2. Rants, raves, feelings? I can't quite snap out of my funk. I'm not sleeping well, generally down/unmotivated/blah. I came into the office today to work in the hopes of that helping a bit, but I'm not sure if it has or not. I generally have been chocking it up to hormones + toddler + world on fire, ha.
Rave: one of my two very best friends is due with her baby girl any day (she's 39wks) and I am so excited that I could cry lol.
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time? #1 Baby Must-have: Our super must-have this go around is a second Nanit monitor. That's the major thing; we l-o-v-e ours for DS1 and I'm not ready to not be able to see him at night lol. We'll reuse most of the other stuff.
Something we won't use this time/didn't have and are getting: I'm torn on a humidifier this time because I think it helped me more than DS1 lol.
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant? Yeah, we have a 7yo pittie who is our absolute baby lol. He's always cuddly and stuff, but he's especially so when he knows I'm pregnant/not feeling like myself (and since both are true right now he's my shadow, ha).
achi -- Boooo. I'm sorry about the GD No shame, IMO, in opting for a repeat C-sec; I am. When will you know if you have to get transferred to an OB and need insulin? I'll keep FX that you don't!
corgimom -- The news about your leave is so awesome! Yay!

With DS I wasn't able to manage my fasting number with diet/exercise alone. I could get it close but never under. Five years later I suspect it will be exactly the same, if not harder since my body has already been through this. I have my intake with the diabetes clinic on Wednesday and then I'll have to pickup the blood sugar monitor and testing strips/lancets later this week. But I fully expect to be on insulin again in a very short time window. For me, it's only the fasting number that is problematic - my body has no issues processing sugars during my waking hours- so I just needed a long-lasting injectable insulin that I use at night. As soon as DS was born, the problem resolved itself. I expect that this time will be more or less a repeat.
I talked to one of my midwives today already and she's arranged a phone consult with the OB of my choice tomorrow (the consult was already in the works because of the previous c-section but we were waiting until I did the GTT). Inevitably, we've all agreed that the safest course of action is to arrange for a transfer of clinical care. The OB I picked is the most midwife friendly/low-intervention one in our area. I tried to get in with her when I had to transfer care last time, but her practice was full. In Ontario midwives are still in the picture for supportive care (just less appointments), and will be at the birth. Then they fully take over as soon as baby is born for his care and for post-partum for me.
Honestly, regardless of what my placenta does I think a repeat c-section is going to be the best for my mental and physical health. With DS I was induced and on a deadline because the OB on call the day after was an absolute horror show. There was so much pressure and it was an awful experience I'd like to avoid reliving. Recovery was so hard, my incision got infected, and my back seized up because I pushed myself too fast, too soon. At least this time, I will know what to expect, when to ask for help/what to watch out for, etc.
corgimom - that's amazing about the paid leave! Hooray!
lovesherheels - I feel you on the funk/lack of motivation. I was feeling energetic this weekend and did a fair bit and now I am very tired and unmotivated again.

1. How far along are you? Team?
37 weeks and 3 days. Team Blue
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
Feeling like we're as ready as we are going to be - which is a nice place to be. Definitely feeling a little more second child, we'll figure it out as it comes compared to last time. Just hoping he sits tight until 1 Oct so we can use the paid leave for the government.
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time?
Number one - I've got an expensive one and a not so expensive one. The Owlet Sock was a big piece of mind, worth every penny item for us the first time around. Cannot recommend it enough. Not so expensive - sleep swaddles. We liked Halo, but I love those things and am even bringing one to the hospital this time.
This time I'll be curious if I use my 4moms swing - our first didn't really care for it, so I'm not sure if this baby will use it. This time I'm excited to try a snuggle me as another place to let the baby hang out.
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant?
We have a dog and it's interesting you asked this question! He's been acting really not like himself - lots of wake ups at night and wanting to go outside more/drinking more - we're doing a lot of testing to see what's going on because I'm pretty sure it's not baby related, but you never know. With our first - there was a week where he pooped in the house, completely unexplained, for a week straight, then just stopped. Then right before our DD was born, he tweaked his back and we used a heating pad for him and he got lots of snuggles and love and attention, and I'm pretty sure he milked that one for a week after he was feeling better because he showed no signs of pain, but would snuggle up on that heating pad no problem! Other than that, he's pretty much the same old, same old!

1. 33+1, team blue
2. Iβm just fried. Iβm not on my A-game, thatβs for sure.
3. What is your number one must have baby product? STM bonus: what did you have last time that you won't use this time, or what didn't you have last time that you're getting this time?
We have a wifi monitor this time around, which I was against last time.
4. Do you have any furbabies? If so, have they been reacting any differently to you since being pregnant?
I have 2 cats. Both are more clingy to me than usual.
Thanks! I'm pretty sure it's because out new parent company is non-US based and paid leave is commonplace there. I've never had a job or known anyone that has a job where they get paid leave - the US is seriously so far behind when it comes to parental leave and post-partum care. I've been having some issue at work (feeling a little under-utilized and under-paid) so this is a big morale bump for me!
achi, I'm glad to hear it sounds like you'll be able to get into your OB of choice and that you already have a good plan for your GD care and delivery. At least from where I'm sitting, you definitely seem to have a game-plan and have it together!
lovesherheels, I'm sorry you still feel in a funk! Does your monitor allow a second camera? I'm not ready to let go of being able to watch DD1 at night so we just got a second camera and our monitor allows you to watch both, switch back and forth or have it trigger the view based on noise. It's just a vtech so definitely nothing fancy!
I think you know neither of my inductions were successful. Well the second one I did fully dilate and push. But anyways
You could schedule a RCS and hope to go into natural labor prior to it?
Thatβs kind of what Iβm thinking. If I magically manage to go into labour on my own before the section (assuming my placenta has moved sufficiently), then hooray. But Iβm not going to stress about it.
With DS1 I made it to 9 cm before the horror show OB came on call and my body completely stalled out at that point.
