20 weeks today. I officially only have 18.5-19 weeks left.
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
Still tired/sick, still trying to get my fasting blood sugar number under control, sigh. Saturday was a good day and I pushed myself too much and then was super tired and needed a nap by 11 am yesterday. Anatomy scan is tomorrow and I'm so stoked to see baby and know the sex for sure. Lots of movement over the weekend which was amazing to feel.
3. Will you be doing anything for halloween this year? Any good preggo costumes?
DS is 5 and we're still waiting to make a final decision on traditional trick or treating. It's literally his favourite holiday so we're having a hard time with the idea of changing it (if we do there will be masks, and we'll bring tongs to grab the candy, wipe it down at home, etc. H won passes to a halloween drive-thru for kids where they fill your bucket at the end. We're going to that and if we don't to regular trick or treating we'll do a backyard candy hunt. I bought a shift that says "this is my pregnant and tired halloween costume. How does it look?"
4. What kind of restrictions are you putting in place for visitors after baby is born/you're home?
H and I were talking about it over the weekend. Our hospital has banned visitors to the maternity ward. I'm bummed that DS won't be able to meet the baby for a few days, but not much we can do about it. I'm stoked that we won't have to deal with hospital visitors. Once home, we're going to severely limit visitors to immediate family and closest friends only. They will also be spaced out and we'll only have 1-2 visits/week. Extended family will be super low priority. There will be a sign on the door with screening questions and visitors will need wash their hands before touching anything, wear a mask, not kiss baby anywhere, and keep visits under 45 minutes unless we ask them to stay longer. Depending on how bad the second wave gets there may be more things we put in place.

1. How far along are you? Team?
37+2, team blue
2. Rants, raves, feelings?
Iโm just fried. I had 3 conference calls in 24 hours for DDs school, plus work, plus my mother sending me nasty texts about how Iโm keeping her from her grandchildren and why isnโt she welcome in my home (all because I told her to wait on booking a flight down here until baby comes).
3. Will you be doing anything for halloween this year? Any good preggo costumes?
I have to quarantine for 72 hours before my csection, so I will be home doing nothing. But Iโve got DD signed up for an outdoor socially distanced pumpkin painting party at her kiddo gym, so DH will take her to that.
4. What kind of restrictions are you putting in place for visitors after baby is born/you're home?
Ugh. The visitors. I want everyone to just stay the eff away at this point. Both of our families are 500+ miles away. We have told everyone that they can schedule a visit but that we reserve the right to cancel if the numbers continue to rise. My ILs will drive so itโs slightly safer? But my mother will fly and my sister will take a train. My sister is a physicianโs assistant and is voluntarily quarantining before she comes down, because she is taking it seriously- sheโs the only one I actually am 100% fine with having visit us.
Everyone but my sister has completely forgotten that I am having major abdominal surgery to birth this boy and so truly, I wish we could keep our doors locked until the spring.

And sorry. That was longer than I intended. Iโm just SO fed up with family member mentalities that they are entitled to access to DD and now DS. Iโm not one to be like โthese are MY kids!โ but man.
I had yesterday off work and took DD to daycare so I could get stuff done and it was soooo nice. I re-organized our pantry and the two closets downstairs and it feels so nice to get stuff organized. I'm really itching to do DD's big girl room and the nursery but that can't happen for a few weeks until my sister comes and take our guest bedroom furniture. I've been putting together an amazon wish list and target registry to track all the stuff we need for baby #2 and while we don't need any big stuff, there is so much little stuff. It feels good to have a list but I'll feel better once we start crossing things off the list.
3. Will you be doing anything for halloween this year? Any good preggo costumes?
I don't know what we'll do for halloween yet, honestly. I bought a ton of candy a month ago but we may just leave it out in a bowl on the porch. We'll probably have my parents over and order pizza. We might go a visit a few immediate neighbors but we might also just do an easter-egg type candy hunt. DD is going to be Minnie Mouse, I will wear the same witches hat headband I've worn for halloween the last 5 years and DH will do nothing, as always, lol!
4. What kind of restrictions are you putting in place for visitors after baby is born/you're home? The hospital allows no visitors right now and my midwife expects that to still be in place in late January. DD would not be allowed to come anyway because they do not allow minors under 13 to visit the maternity suites during cold and flu season. My parents will keep DD until we've been home for a day or two and we will keep seeing them after baby is born but it really will just be our immediate family and maaaaaybe some close friends, depending on how numbers look. I think restrictions will vary based on the person, honestly. My parents will probably visit often because my step-mom will come over to help and my younger sister will come to help with things and continue to clean for us. Everyone else will be up in the air and we'll take things on a case by case visit.
DH wants to keep DD#1 in daycare full time when I'm on leave because he knows having a newborn is a lot and feels that keeping that routine, especially since she loves school, will be good for her and us. I'm not 100% sold because we don't know how things will look then so I'm leaning maybe more towards a compromise at part time but ugh, I don't know.
achi, your scan is today, yaaaay! I can't wait to find out if you are right or the sneak peek is right about the sex! I hope everything goes well!
tacoflavoredkisses, no apologies for long posts, covid is making everything hard and complicated and families are already hard and complicated, as is. I hope your family chills out and lets you relax and recover in peace!
tacoflavoredkisses - oh man, I'm sorry that your family is being so absurd. The pumpkin painting party sounds fun!
corgimom - I'm glad your day to yourself was so good!
We are officially team blue! That was the longest ultrasound of my life (2 hours - not kidding). He was so unbelievably uncooperative, curled up, and then moving into other not-ideal positions. The tech had to bring the radiologist in to finish getting the images she couldn't. But the radiologist said that everything looks normal, so that was a huge relief. After 2 hours I was getting pretty worried. He was not shy about showing us the goods though. That part was easy. I told the tech and the MD that I would bring him in when he was older to personally apologize for being so difficult.
achi, Yay, team blue! I'm sorry your ultrasound took so long but so happy to hear they got all the pictures and everything looks good! Both my anatomy scans with this girl were an hour each and we're still missing a picture, lol! What's with these babies being so uncooperative!?

1. How far along are you? Team? 25+4, boy.
2. Rants, raves, feelings? Monday was DS1's birthday, so DH and I took the day off and goofed around with him all day. It was really nice and super needed. He (DS1) also had his 2yo appointment that day, and I learned he's the size of an average 3yo lol.
Nothing really new for me personally: I feel kind of blah, I'm sleeping like crap, the usual lol. Trying to take it one day at a time.
3. Will you be doing anything for halloween this year? Any good preggo costumes? I have no idea, honestly. I have DS1 a costume, but I need to ask our neighborhood friends if they know if people are doing trick or treating or not. DS1 is 2yo, so he won't necessarily know he's missing anything ... but he enjoyed walking around last year with some of the older kids so I'm kind of sad about him not getting to do it again.
Pregnant costumes ... I personally hate Halloween lol, so I won't be dressing up regardless.
4. What kind of restrictions are you putting in place for visitors after baby is born/you're home? At the hospital, no one will be allowed in anyway until C19 is a non-issue, so it'll just be me and DH. (DS1 wouldn't be able to come in a normal year because of flu restrictions due to his age.) I'm really going to miss having friends and family come visit us at the hospital; it was so nice with DS1.
At home ... DS1 will stay in preschool FT while we're home with DS2 (and DS2 will start going 2x/wk sometime in May or June). My mom will be staying here with DS1 and our pup while we're in the hospital. The folks that are already solidly in our bubble (my mom + brother, MIL, my aunt + uncle, DH's aunt + uncle, plus a couple friends) will all be able to come by whenever. My dad and stepmom aren't immediately local so they aren't regularly in our bubble, but we'll let them come by too when they want.
I think we'll handle other friends on an individual basis. I'm a little more breezy about this than other people here, I guess, but if we trust you to be in our house then we won't be asking you to wear a mask. Normal precautions like handwashing and stuff, but we'd do that regardless of the virus.
achi -- I'm sorry you're still feeling tired and sick. But YAY for a little boy!
tacoflavoredkisses -- I'm sorry your family has been giving you such a tough time. The last few weeks are hard enough without all that. Whatever you decide will be the right thing. And never apologize for long messages lol.
corgimom -- SO MUCH LITTLE STUFF. I totally feel that. I did the same thing as you on Amazon and had the exact same reaction lol.
lovesherheels, Yes!!! The little stuff is just a lot and I keep remembering more, like I need bottles! We got rid of all DD1s and I just remembered this week that we'll need a way to feed this kid when I'm not breast-feeding, lol! Curious what all the second-time moms have on their lists to get, I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something!
I really dislike being the center of attention of gift-giving things but I am a little bummed that I'm not having a shower this time around because it was so nice to get alllll the diapers and the little things taken care of!

corgimom I am the literal same: I hate showers because I hate being the center of attention. A few of my friends are doing a super small virtual celebration for me, and I'm really grateful for that and for their excitement since I've had trouble feeling genuinely excited with all the other feels I've been having this pregnancy.
Oh, I KNOW I'm forgetting something. Want to compare notes? Lol. We've got new bottles, pacifiers, teething toys ... A few new burp cloths/bibs ... a couple new crib sheets + changing pad covers, new car window shades. The stuff we need to convert our stroller into holding two kids (adapter kits basically). The big things are a second white noise machine, a second monitor. Oh! And a new incline seat since we turned our rock n play back in during the recall. And diapers/wipes, of course.
lovesherheels, thank you for sharing your list - I totally forgot about bibs, lol!
We just recently got a new monitor for DD1 (2.5) that has 2 cameras so I'm pretty excited that I can see them both through the single monitor or my phone. I also got this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M9C11ZR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for our room/baby's room so I can use it for white noise but I can also bring low lights on for when I need to do motn feedings. We also have bottles, pacifiers and clips, crib sheets, swaddles (we never swaddled DD1 but this kid will love the swaddle!), a few more bobby pillow covers, a winter car seat cover since DD1 was a spring baby and a haakaa for me o nthe list! I also want to get me one of those sit-me-up floor seats for when she's a little older so she can have somewhere to sit and chill while we play with DD1.
I'm super curious about this stroller conversion thing! We talked about getting a double stroller but decided against it but I am worried DD will suddenly want to be in the stroller if she sees little sister in one!

corgimom Oooh, the sit-me-up floor seat looks really neat! I may toss one of those on the list too lol.
We got the Uppababy Vista with DS1, in the hopes of having a second kiddo at some point, since it's meant to extend for two. It has some adapters and stuff that you install to convert it for that use (basically letting you move the seats to different positions to accommodate two kids). If I'm being honest, I'm not pumped about pushing around DS1 (who is 30+lbs) AND the newborn, but we I don't trust DS1 to not run off yet lol.
lovesherheels, I'm glad someone else thinks it will be helpful, it reassures me that it's not a stupid addition to my list, hah!
Ahh, yeah we just used a really basic Graco stroller that let our carseat snap into it and then converted for a bigger kid and honestly, we really ended up not using it a lot especially once DD1 was out of the infant seat! I guess we'll wing it this time around and see how it goes with 2. I suppose we could always sell it and get a double stroller that works with our infant seat but, ugh, I also don't want to push around 2 kids and my first is only 22 lbs!
