I am thinking I may have COVID. I have appt for a test tomorrow morning. Right now I have a a bad headache, congestion, slightly elevated temp, cough and zero taste or smell. Those of you who have had covid or know someone who has....is there anything that helps the headache? That’s the biggest thing killing me right now. And how long before taste comes back? It’s so strange to have no taste.

I haven’t had it, but I got some killer headaches during my first trimester with both pregnancies and used to get horrible hormonal migraines. Try laying in a dark room with an ice pack on your forehead. Something about the brain processing the feeling cold before pain? But it works.
I haven't had it but my boss does right now and I have been on Zooms with her since her symptoms started. She has/had headache, exhaustion, fuzzy thinking, cough and a fever. She has not lost her sense of smell/taste. Mostly, she just talks about how tired she is.
ETA: And body aches. I remember on Friday when her symptoms started she also said she felt weird. She said it wasn't really anything she'd felt before. No nasal congestion for her. Her headache was over in a day.

I haven’t had COVID but I get migraines really bad. The only thing that seems to help me is a combo of 2 Advil, 1 Tylenol. We call it the magic combo at our house.
I’ve had it. I had a metallic taste in my mouth which the testing center said they’ve been hearing a lot. It lasted for a week. I never had a headache, though. It’s been 4 months and I’m still having breathing issues. I hope you feel better.
I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, that sounds terrible. I get migraines and also stress/tension headaches. Excedrin Migraine use to work for me and then it just stopped. Now, it's usually a combination of caffeine and either Advil or Aspirin (depending on the type of headache) and my heating pad. Ice never seems to work for me, but the heating pad nearly always works.
I just got the all clear to go back into public earlier this week after having a positive test. My only symptoms were stuffy nose and loss of taste/smell. My symptoms only last 4 days. My smell and taste are back 100%. It is very weird not having any taste, I told my kids I could eat literal poop and have no idea.
As far as the headache, I get migraine around my period and the only thing that helps is excedrine migraine and sleep.
My mom had it and her symptoms were the same as yours. The dr gave her a shot for the headache and it helped.
The shot was maybe Imatrex. It hurts like a bitch going in but stops a migraine in its tracks. I have only had to do it once, and the burning of the shot going in was so worth the results.
I had it and the headaches were the worst part about it for me. Nothing actually took them away and they went on for a while (just be prepared, hopefully, this isn't the case for you!) I took Tylenol but when they got really bad I switched to Excedrin and that helped the most.
ETA: my taste and smell went away for almost exactly a week and then came back, but it seems to be different for everyone.
I am slowly recovering from Covid, the same symptoms that you described. What worked best for headache was excedrin tension. Sometimes it would take it away completely, sometimes it didn’t touch it. The headache lasted a few days for me.
I had it back in march when things were still very uncertain about it. My symptoms were similar to yours but a higher fever. and severe muscle aches. I took Tylenol and and my allergy medicine to help. I hope you get better soon. It's not fun.
It took awhile for my sense of taste/smell to come back. It also changed my taste a little, for example I liked the alcoholic seltzers and now I can't stand them.
My family is just coming off Covid. My husband and I had it worse than our girls. We both had headache, fatigue, horrible body aches, sore throat. I lost taste and smell. It hasn't come back fully yet and I'm 11 days out. We both had low grade temps.

My sister had it (so did her 5 month old). She still doesn’t have her taste/smell back. She’s going on 3 weeks. I’ve heard some people get it back within days, others take months. Hope you’re feeling better!
I have a patient about 4 months out that doesn't have their taste or smell back.
I have a friend whose hasn’t returned and he had COVID in March. (He’s an MD in NYC so if the theories about viral load are true, that could be a very relevant factor for the timeline)
My result was waiting for me in my online health record when I woke up. It was positive. I am a teacher and now I am feeling guilty because I am going to be missing so many days, and we are already limited on the amount of time I get with kids.

Ugh so sorry you have it! I hope it’s not too serious. Don’t feel guilty, just focus on what you need to do to get better. I’ve had it if you want to PM me with any questions

That’s interesting you say this. One of my coworkers used to drink Coke every day and now he says he can’t stand it. He drinks Lecroix now which he always disliked before. My other coworker said there’s very specific smells that are totally gone still, like body odor (he’s always worked out a lot). Neither of them had fevers when they were diagnosed
It is weird. It seems things that are very artificial or chemically made taste horrible to me. I had pretty much given up drinking soda except for a Diet Dr. Pepper every once in awhile. It now tastes horrible to me. I guess it's a good thing since I drink more water now but it is weird. I sometimes wonder what other things have changed that I haven't noticed.
I actually thought I just had a cold earlier this week, not covid but have been isolated since I got sick and just tested positive today. I’m stressed/want to cry since I live with family and have been confined to one more and only able to get food or anything if someone is home. I was looking forward to finally getting out. I dint know how I’m gunna do this without going crazy
