Frankly, I don't know much about his policies either - other than that I had two coworkers who vastly preferred him to Giuliani. And given Giuliani's fascist tendencies that may not mean much. lol.
Oh no. I was still in NY when he was mayor. I was too young to know much about specific policies, but I do remember my mom being so excited that he was the speaker at her graduation, which was held at MSG.

I was a kid when he was mayor so I don't have much of a perspective on how he ran the city at that time. That NYT obit really makes clear that he was sandwiched and overshadowed by larger-than-life personalities like Koch and Giuliani. It's really crazy to me that we've only had one Black mayor though - there are a few Black candidates for next year's election so we'll see what happens.

I also have very little memory of his policies, but one of my friends posted a touching tribute saying he inspired him to go into politics. Representation matters.
