Anyone have these, especially for a 2 year old? I have them on my idea list for gifts for daughter and they are on sale today on Amazon. But, looking closer I am not sure if I really need them? They are pricey even on sale.
I've looked at these before but they are so expensive, I never pulled the trigger. I think you would need a bunch for it to really be fun, and that was out of our price range. If you don't have magnatiles, I'd get those instead. My DD2 (who is 2) has loved them since around 18 months. I have the picasso tiles which are cheaper.
ETA: This is a great price for a 100 pc set! I paid $62 for it a few years ago. I think we have about 200 now, but we started with 100 pcs for DD1.
I still keep (or did before covid) a travel 8 piece set in my purse and the kids would play with them at restaurants or waiting rooms. Agree magnatiles are used more - my kids are 8 and almost 5 and they play with magnatiles almost everyday.
Magnetiles seems to be 50-50 for love/hate for folks.
For us they are the most used toy. They are expensive so you can sell them for some return on the cost. I would also consider some sort of crane. My kids still love them for some reason. We had one in our train set and a truck with a working one.
Magnatiles definitely get more use in our house. I agree with Tegu getting more short-term use when tossed into a diaper back under age 3. Now if we had HUNDREDS of Tegu blocks maybe they would be as popular as the Magnatiles... But we don't. haha
Our Costco has an offbrand magnatile pack every year around now. I think it’s 50 pieces and like $30? I got one last year and got another one this year and my 2 yr old LOVES them. I also like that they’re pretty small to store compared to other building toys.
The Tegu blocks do look cool if you have the money for them.
My son who is now ten has had them since he was 2. He still pulls them out and plays with them. I will probably save them for if we ever have grandkids. They are addicting to play with.

We have some tegu sets and I think they’re better for taking to...say a restaurant toy that will be used for like 30 or 40 mins. My kids both like them but I think the small sets (say like 8-15 pieces) where you build a little car configuration or a robot or a specific animal or two are better than the free building we’d do we blocks or legos.
