so, clearly the PS5 is a super long shot before Christmas. But i was wondering, realistically when do you think we will be able to get it? early 2021? spring? If its likely going to be months. I want to get my son the new call of duty fame for PS4. If its likely to be available by January, I'd like to wait and just do a gift card.
A PS4 game can be played on the PS5, so if that's what he wants, I'd just get it now and he can switch to the new system once it's available. It will obviously be a nicer experience playing on the PS5, but if he's anxious to play it he might not care?
I honestly don't know the answer to the rest of your question. Do you have a Costco membership? My H was able to snag one there the week before last. It seemed like a slightly better option than some of the other stores because you have to be a member to access it, so no bots. I honestly don't know how many more they plan to release, though. And it still involves a lot of luck and good timing. So... idk!

Thanks. I am not a Costco member. I dont even have a Costco nearby. I think the closest is 40 mins away and its not somewhere I would frequent.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if its still difficult to find in jan/feb.

When PS4 came out, we were able to get one the week after Xmas (and we drove an hour away to snag one I found in stock). DD (13) is now asking for a PS5, so she’s getting a controller with a gift card attached. Hopefully we’ll be able to get one by February.
You don’t need a membership to shop at Costco. If you have a gift card, which you can buy at many grocery stores, you can shop at Costco with that.
Wow! I never knew this! our Costco is 40 minutes away so not worth getting a membership, but my mom has a Costco card and she will pick stuff up for me and I feel bad because she never accepts money for it (you can’t bring guests now due to covid...or at least that was the rule). Now I know I can shop myself!

I just looked at Costco online and it says members only but shipping out the week of 12/14 (which is Monday). So realistically it might arrive by Xmas. Is it something your mom could order for you?

You saw it available? I see it as saying sold out?

I think online shopping at Costco IS members only, but you can shop in store with a giftcard as a PP said. Or it's possible you can get some things online without a membership, but I've had to log in with my membership card to purchase anything electronic.
I would definitely not count on them being in stock in-store anytime soon. Last I heard (through my H, so I could be off), no stores were really going to be selling them in-person for a while, it was all online only.

Also their shipping even with their posted dates was really slow. We were able to order one in mid-November that said it would ship the week of 11/15 and we got it a few days ago.

A non-member can shop online, but some items are reserved for members only. Or maybe I'm thinking of members only pricing for hot ticket items or heavily discounted ones. I'm sure ps5 would be one of those.
