You all are smart ladies.. am I missing any nick names for Sebastian? I like the name but all of our other kids go by nick names. I’ve only heard of Bash and Seb or Sebby as nick names for Sebastian and I’m not a fan of any of them. We can’t use the middle name because DH and I are compromising and nobody will be able to pronounce it 😂

It's a popular name in Spain and the nickname my friends use is Sebas, which someone else pointed out was See-bass. It's weird here, but not there.
My cat is Sebastian. We call him Sebs or Bebbies 🤪

Seb and Bas are the two I hear often. Bastian, Bash, Sebas are less common but not unheard of. If you like Sebastian, just use it. You don’t have to have a nickname and often nns come naturally.

My son's name can be shortened to a nickname and he gets called buddy. He was my little buddy growing up wherever I was he was there too so the nickname little buddy developed then he asked us to stop using the little. So it's just buddy which is not what I planned on using for a nickname.

It’s popular in Puerto Rico too, but I’ve never heard the sea bass! They use Seba Se-Ba, short e, then bah said an accent lol. I’ve always liked it! Emphasis on the Se, just made H say it!
Technically with Spanish it should be more "say-bass" but I always just hear SeeBass because it makes me laugh My host-cousin was named that and every time our families got together I laughed so much hearing it. I named my cat after him, thinking I'd call him SeeBass....but it just felt weird not being over there.
It's full form is one of my favorite Spanish male names though.

I was confused about the SeaBass thing... the only ppl I have known with this name/nickname were Hispanic, and it was SayBas

I’m going to sell it to DH that we let the NN happen natural. I like this name more than the others we have come up with and much more than Lenny which is what my 13yo son wanted. I feel a bit better, thank you!!

Our friends daughter dated a person named Sebastian for many years, he goes by Bastian. I worked with another person, who went by Bas, not pronounced like Bass, more like boss. He was from the Netherlands though, I think it would be harder to get the correct pronunciation here, and it would end up as Bass.
I agree you don't have to have a nickname. If you like the name, just use it in full. Or someday he (or his friends) will choose a shortened version, regardless of what you choose.
Ask a baby just learning to talk. DD came up with some interesting nick names for my brother and his friend when she was 18 months. Nicknames that totally work but none of us had ever thought of them.

I dated a Sebastian in high school. He went by his full name at all times. On occasion in gym class he got Seb but it was pretty rare. I like the name Bastian for short, but I think you have to really push the nicknames that are at the end of the name (like Xander).
DH’s name is Stuart. He hates his name and all possible nicknames. Everyone calls him the full name after he corrects them the first time.
My name is April and the only available nickname is Ape and the only person who can call me that is my Dad. No nicknames for me!
DS’s name lends itself to lots of nicknames, however we have taken to calling him Bubby the baby puppy because that is what he is right now.
