They wash it when I get an oil change (once a year). I normally wash myself once in the spring. And I’ll take it to the car wash maybe once a year. So probably average 3 washes a year.
Clearly I’m a slob. My car has never been to the car wash. I only wash the exterior once or twice a year in the summer. I let the @kids do it with a hose for fun in their bathing suits.
Maybe once a month in the summer and a couple of times in the winter, particularly if we've come back from a road trip and it's covered in grime. I learned a very expensive, painful lesson the hard way about that last year when I didn't immediately get a car wash after our return trip home and ended up scraping the hell out of the back of my car because my backup camera was too dirty to see out of and I misjudged where a pillar was just using my side mirror.
Cars have much better coatings and much better alloys in the places Al is used (a lot isn't even Al anymore). You used to legit rust through the floor of a car. Now Ecoat coatings allows ever nook and cranny to get coated and corrosion is really not an issue on the bottom of the car.
I wash maybe 3-4 times a year. My last car I kept until it was 17 years old and had two or three tiny rust spots due to me damaging the paint. No rust with intact paint. Frequent car washes wouldn't have made a bit of difference in those spots rusting.
Additionally of you have very high salt concentrations corrosion actually slows down and stops. You need low to moderate salt concentration. So you best best may be to let your car get completely crusted is salt, haha.
^^ I work on corrosion stuff at my job.
That's so interesting. What does AI mean in this context? Because I'm reading it as artificial intelligence and that doesn't make sense.
Short answer: it depends. Most newer car washes recycle the water so they’re not using very much. Older car washes can use a LOT, and if they don’t manage the runoff then the chemicals can cause environmental issues.
If you wash at home using a bucket and hose with sprayer, you can easily wash a car with less than ten gallons of water (maybe even two cars with ten gallons depending on how big the car is). Or if you leave the hose running and overdo it you could double that or more.

Sorry, aluminum. I speak in periodic table sometimes haha.
Maybe 5-6 times a year. I vacuum and wipe down the interior at the same time. Since COVID, I’ve started wiping down the steering wheel, handles, and buttons weekly.
Once or twice a month. We live by the beach and the kids get a lot of sand in the car and a fog/sea mist that seems to make dirt stick to the windows. I love a clean car inside and out.
Never. I feel like it's a waste of time/money. If I do ever wash the car it's for a specific reason (kids water play, husband going to pick up a client)
About once per month. I get a full detail every 3 or 4 months which hasn't happened since Covid and the dust/crumbs are killing me. But I guess not killing me enough to do it myself 😂

Usually about once a month. Our cars live outside and while we don't have salt on the roads, we are close enough to the ocean that they get gross fairly quickly.
I have a basic monthly pass at one near us. My car is black and gets dirty easily. I try to wash it once a week unless there's rain or snow in the forecast. I pay $15 so once a week makes it worth it for me.
My previous car was red and belonged to the once-a-year car wash club lol.
I drive thru a wash every couple months. I get a “real” wash a couple times a year, basically whenever I need the inside vacuumed out. It’s like $40 a pop for the cheapest possible wash, and I just don’t care enough to shell out that kind of cash.
My car used to stay super clean - I was basically leaving my garage, going to work, and parking in their garage. Now DH has the garage spot and work is outdoor parking. I’m destined to have a dirty car for the foreseeable future.

My car gets washed when I drop it off for routine maintenance at the dealership because it's included. Other than that, I do it if the kids are with me when I stop to get gas if we aren't in a hurry and they ask because it's fun (gotta find the fun anywhere you an these days!) as long as there's not a line. And I always do it once it's warmed up enough for the salt to be off the roads. I'd say on average maybe 5-6 times a year.
Practically never. In the spring/summer we will hose off pollen if the rain doesn't get to it and the pollen is really caked on. Maybe once a summer DH will wash our cars in the driveway.
We live in New England and I only go to the carwash in the winter if my doors are SO coated in salt and dirt that our jackets are getting dirty.
We have a membership to one close to my house for $16 a month. My daughter loves going through it, it’s worth it to me especially during quarantine it was a fun activity for us to do to get out of the house
